It's a good place to go for some cheap drinks... They have a $2 draft which changes, but lately it has been rolling rock. Â We had just moved into a nearby apartment when the bruins were in the playoffs and our cable was not set up yet so we went here for most of the games. There was a friendly local crowd who was very much into the games; I also went for Monday night football this week & they had the game on. Like the other reviewer said they only have a forman grill so food options are limited, to burgers, grilled cheeses, deli sandwiches & soups. Â The bartenders are great, very friendly; when we were in often for the bruins games she recognized us from on our second visit on. Would be 4 stars, but what bar, especially one with "Sports Pub" in it's name is closed on Sundays??
Review Source:Don't go to this bar to meet people. Â Don't go to this bar for a wide selection of craft beers. Â Don't even go to this bar to actually watch sports (they are, of all things, closed on Sunday?). Â
This bar is where you go if you want some cheap drinks with a bunch of friends and you're on a budget. Â It's small and decidedly townie, but the bartenders are nice (one of the guys has tattoos on his forearms saying "Waltham" and "Mass") and the drinks - as other reviewers have mentioned - are cheap. Â That and the jukebox and darts keep this place fun. Â Sports really doesn't seem to be the focus here, but that's fine, other than the name, no one seems to think much of it. Â Yeah, the Bruins or Sox are on like anywhere else and no one will stop you from watching a game. Â There just won't be much cheering and I'm not even sure their t.v.s are in HD.
My advice, go here with 3-5 friends, a couple bucks and take over the jukebox for the night. Â Just keep in mind it's a townie bar and don't play any Kei$ha or trendy trashy pop in general or ask for some obscure gluten-free West coast craft beer or a chardonnay and you'll be fine.
We just moved to Waltham and checked this place out last weekend. From the outside, they look like a total dive, but the inside is nice and the bartender took care of us right away. They have $2 Bud draughts, which kept us there all night. Despite being Saturday night, it wasn't crowded at all. My friends and I easily got a table and talked without having to shout over other people or obnoxiously loud music.
Bonus: when I got home, I discovered that my Commuter Rail pass had fallen out of my pocket. I called the WSP, and the bartender had found it after we left. I rushed back and she handed it to me as soon as she saw me, despite the fact that she was busy closing up.
