My wife and I have been there several times and very happy nearly every time.My only complaint (and not enough for me to reduce a rating ) was that I misheard the waiter when he said a special was blackened grouper ,I heard Black Grouper.Grouper is one of my favorite fish, but it is delicate and was overpowered by the boldness of the seasoning, good but not there usual fantastic.
The specials they do are wonderful ,one season they did a fantastic crab cupcake, molded lump crab seasoned perfectly with several spot on sauces. Not to mention the rock shrimp sandwich and other seasonal treats.
Does anyone read these reviews? If they do they are going to get a dose of MORE WARFIELDS.
If you ever get out to this place be sure to say hello to Jon Cotterman, the manager/bar tender/sommelier. He is super knowledgeable and helpful. Last night we told him we were looking for new Pinot Noir experience then gave him a price point. He thought then brought us a bottle of Beau Frere 2007 which opened beautifully over the course of the meal. Unsure if I will order it again right away but still we were delighted to have a chance to taste it in the perect setting.
Oh, did you want to ask about the food? Lots of local ingredients and the kitchen knows what to do them. Barbara gave high marks to her polenta and swisschard entrée. For myself the lamb shank ragout was rich and tasty. It paired beautifully with the Pinot.
Really isn't that everything you can want from a night out on a sleepy American main street?
