This is the first Yelp review I have written but when I woke up this morning thinking of how I would formulate this review, I knew it must be done. Â
Three of my friends and I were looking for a mom's dinner out and I happened to see that the Waverly Inn advertises Ladies Night on Wednesdays on their web site.  Soup, salad, entrée and dessert for $21.  I called last week to specifically ask if the Ladies Night special would be available this week.  The hostess said yes, it would be in effect this week.  So I made reservations for 4 for 7:30pm last night. Â
We arrived at 7:30 and were seated in the dining room. Â We noticed that there were only 3 other tables occupied in the dining room but the bar area was bustling. Â We were given menus and told that someone would be right with us. Â We read the menu. Â Then we read it again. Â Then we read the wine list. Â Then we read it again. Â And still, no one had stopped by our table to welcome us or take drink orders. Â After about 10 minutes I walked to the hostess stand to ask if the Ladies Night special was available. Â I was told that it will not be available during the month of July. Â So why wasn't I told that last week on the phone? Â At that point, after sitting there for 10 minutes and not being acknowledged we decided this was definitely not a good sign of things to come and we opted to leave the restaurant. Â
I hate that we were treated this way. Â We specifically chose this restaurant since we live in Cheshire and wanted to support the local businesses. Â But I have to say, after this experience I would not go back, nor recommend it to anyone else.
I have been lunching here on a regular basis since October 2012.  I highly recommend the Grilled Shrimp Maltese salad , prosciutto wrapped shrimp, fresh spring greens and the orange balsamic vinaigrette  - to die for.  The saltiness of the prosciutto, combined with the sweetness of the dressing and the perfectly cooked shrimp just blends perfectly.  The Filet Mignon is very good as well.  Service is good and the atmosphere is attractive.
Review Source:So we like this place. We like to sit at the bar and enjoy the opportunity to sit next to each other. Â It is a nice bar and comfortable. Â We have been here a few time since the last review with the last time being a last minute decision on Valentines Day. That turned out to be a lot of fun with great service leading the way.
So tonight not so much so. And it bothers me to have an off nite on a slow nite. First, I don't mind paying for value but to pay a premium for a short pour on a glass of wine really upsets me. We lauphed when we thought of having a second glass but felt it wasn't was worth the price - had the pour been just a little more we would have had two. So was the 300% plus mark-up worth it?
The special was a chicken and brocoli ravioli - with a dill based sauce. A beautiful garnish of dil came with the meal and what we tasted was dill. There was no flavor of chicken or brocoli in the pasta.
I had the Bolognese. Lots of pasta, just a little meat sauce that was bland, overcooked and watery.
If this was our first time it would have been our last time  - I hope some in management reads this and realizes that success comes from repeat business and tonight it was not earned.
The 3 rating came from a good meal on Valentines Day that warranted a 4 - today as a 2.
