Love it. Great food and drinks. Perfect size and atmosphere. And a fantastic happy hour too. Can't go wrong.

Something has gone terribly wrong. Tonight and previous visit (about 6 months ago), the food is really off.  I got a shrimp dish which was poorly cooked and just like someone insane thought it up.  And the previous time, my food was very non-descript.  The wines were great and I enjoyed several flights, but won't be eating there again.

Simply put - AMAZING little restaurant with excellent, service, wine, and especially food!

My husband ended up here last evening after a trip to the outlets by the recommendation of Yelp.  We were more than pleased.  The wine was outstanding, service was out-of-this-world, and oh my the food.  Tuesday is Flight NIght, 3 tastes (equal to one glass) for $9 or less.  I went with whites, hubby went for the reds.  We started off with Tapas for happy hour (4-6); the cheese fondue was so smooth and creamy served on toasted bread!  Yumm!  We tried the zuchini blossoms, they were really tasty and different, but not really my thing.

My husband ordered the gnocchi which was bursting with flavor.  I'm surprised he shared with me.  I ordered the scallops, which was served over rissoto.  It was delicious!  My husband and I never order scallops out because we like them to be a tad crispy or seared on the outside and most times they come to the table a little undercooked for us.  The scallops we ordered were AMAZING, I would order them a hundred times over.

    We will DEFINITELY be back!

Fantastic... trust all of the positive reviews. I don't make it out to this area often but TWK will be on my list EVERY time I visit Leesburg from now on.

Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. Fantastic food. Great wine selections / flights and very reasonable prices. They don't take reservations and are closed on Mondays so factor this into your planning.

Wonderful experience from start to finish.  Staff was very personable and made us feel at home.  I started with the pinot noir three flights tasting.  IMO, CA was nbr 1, followed by Pays d'Oc and then Oregon.  The Oregon (Foris) was too light for my taste.  We were there for lunch,  I had the daily special which was the duck pho.  I will say that I am a picky duck eater.  I will frequently try, however, not usually enjoy.  The pho was great.  The duck had a great flavor, not at all gamey.  Topped with just the right amount of cilantro.  For desert tried both the Chocolate-hazelnut torta palla and Fried strawberry shortcake.  The torta was not too sweet and balanced by some salt sprinkled on the top.  The fried shortcake was incredible.  Nice crunchy outer comlimented by fresh strawberry glaze.  As if this was not enough, finished with a port, however, we tasted the Klein Constantia, Vin de Constance.  On the next visit, will finish with this!

The few times I go to downtown Leesburg, I always wonder why I don't go more often. The Wine Kitchen is a super cute place to grab some wine and good food.

I couldn't decide what to drink so I had started with their flights which include 3 different glasses of wine. The wine comes to the table, each glass with specific information related to wine. Nice way to start.

We ordered a cheese and meat plate for the table which was real yummy, but as one might suspect, the cheddar biscuit nuggets stole the show. For my entree, I got the scallops which were cooked perfectly and came with a delicious roasted cauliflower/ garlic puree. But everyone at the table really enjoyed their meals.

    Friendly staff, great atmosphere.

Awesome experience. One of the best places I've ever been. All their ingredients are locally grown, the food was amazing. They have a wonderful selection of wines and some good non-alcoholic drinks. I am really glad they have local wines on the list. Would recommend it to everybody.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant. It is small and unpretentious with excellent service, great food, great wine... I've dined here several times and never had a bad (or even mediocre) experience. Their menu changes seasonally but it does seem like some items (or slight variations of those items) are always on the menu such as the chicken and waffles and the local rib eye.

I definitely recommend doing a cheese board because I always love their selections and the accompaniments.

A quick tip... On the weekends (Fri/Sat night), come early or be prepared to wait. You can go check in and put your name on their list, and then go drink a beer at a nearby bar if there is no room at the WK bar or in the "waiting area". It is a small restaurant and you can feel like you are hovering over people or are in the way while you are waiting there, especially if they are busy. But definitely don't let the wait scare you away, it is definitely worth it.

My husband and I went last night for our anniversary and I'm raving to anyone who will listen! Surprisingly, as it was Mothers' Day, we were seated right away -- perhaps the no reservations policy was a detraction for the busiest restaurant day of the year, but it worked for us!

We started with a cheese plate - manchego with an olive tapenade, local goat brie with a strawberry-balsamic reduction, and a goat/sheep ash with a barely sweet marmalade.  It was wonderful all around, though the ONLY tiny thing I would say for an improvement would have been toasted bread.  Personal preference

I had mahi-mahi with local asparagus over the best latke I've ever had with a ramp bernaise. My eyes roll back just thinking about it.  He had the pork chop with a curry.. gremolata? chutney? with a Israeli couscous side with sunchokes and a demi-glaze feel.  I won - I think - because the curry was a bit strong for my taste but he loved it. I love the portion sizes here - it's not too much, but not too little.

We had two of the three desserts - we were celebrating! The fried panko-crusted pound cake for the strawberry shortcake was stellar.  The sea salted chocolate dessert was out of this world also.

Add in the great service and recommendations for wine, it was an expensive but outstanding meal.  This was our second visit and the first was just as good.

    Our go-to special occasion restaurant!

We love this place.  My wife and I come to Leesburg a couple of times a year just for The Ol' Wine Kitchen.  On Fridays or Saturdays get here early if you're claustrophobic because this place is small, and it gets busy.  However the staff manages everything so well so your wait is never as long as they say it will be.  We have yet to have an appetizer, meal or dessert here that we didn't like.  We split the fried twinkie last time.  Neither of us like Twinkies but we had to leave before we ordered another one.  The food and wine are terrific, but the staff makes it.  Super friendly with just enough of attention.  And not the  Brian from Chotchkie's kind. (Office Space fans know what I'm talking about here)

    Enjoy!

We rarely go out to eat because (a) I'm cheap, (b) I live next door to Wegmans, and (c) I am a fabulous cook and prefer my food to most restaurants.  But this place could easily become my home away from home!  Much like Goldilocks, everything was "just right".

The restaurant - as soon as we were seated I started looking around and told Dude, this is exactly what I'd want my restaurant to look like. While the space was small it was decorated with "just enough", there was a large bar with tons of wine, quaint seating (maybe too quaint in some cases, but we had a table on our own), and if you looked close enough, there were some cute details (the people on the restroom sign had clothes on them, the coat rack used wine keys, etc.).

The wine menu - the perfect mix of diverse selection without anything too pretentios.  There were many, many flights to choose from (I chose the Rockin' Reds), so you could get a taste of mulitple wines for a reasonable price.  Additionally, when you order a flight, they come with clever write-ups that not only make you smile, they perfectly describe what to look for in flavor.

The food menu - Again, exactly what I would want at my restaurant.  Small menu, diverse items, fresh, fresh, fresh.  Oh, and shockingly resonable prices.

    What we had...
When looking at the menu, Dude was concerned that his dish was inexpensive (in his mind small portion) so he ordered the Roast Garlic Gnocci (w/morels, spring peas, ricotta salata and gremolata) as an appetizer.  Now, I said I would have "just a bite" but ended up eating half the dish.  The gnocci melted in your mouth and the morels burst with flavor.  Yum, just yum!

He had the Shrimp and Mussel Puttanesca and after me stealing half his appetizer he guarded his plate.  He did share one bite and the layering of flavors in the broth was incredible.  This is when I started questioning my cooking ability - yeah, I'm good, but this was leaps and bounds better.  Dude didn't speak for the duration of the meal other then Mmmmmm.

I had read reviews of the place before we went, so going in I knew I was going to have "Chicken & Waffles" - farm raised quail, bacon braised kale, belgian waffle, and bacon-caramel sauce.  Let me say that again, BACON-CARAMEL sauce.   Yes, I'll have that please, with a spoon.  The quail was maybe a touch over done, but still quite good.  Waffle perfect.  And did I mention the sauce, bacon-caramel - no two flavors ever tasted so good together.  Add that the kale was perfectly done and quite flavorful (and had chunks of bacon) and my night was made!  When I saw my portion I thought I would have room for dessert but nope.  I had quite the full, happy belly.

So, overall, I am now a huge fan of this place.  I hear it's super busy on Fri/Sat night but we went on Sun around 5 and no wait what-so-ever. I will be back...again and again!

SX and I came here to celebrate our anniversary together. This is a very nice, but cozy, casual, laid-back place that has a dash of fancypants tied in with the quality of food served and prices.

Food here is done well. The chicken and waffle is a playful dish using a cornish hen. The star of the plate was clearly the syrup sauce and the greens though. SX, a known meat eater, went with a vegetarian dish of gnocchi. It was divine. The red wine reduction sauce really pulled the dish together quite well. Both are really great dishes to try here. We also had a starter plate, the charcuterie platter. While the offerings and toppings were good, I thought it might have been a fraction of a tad skimpy. Overall, we both enjoyed the food here. However, SX was still hungry after the meal due to the serving sizes, thus this place may be a bit more pricey than others due to the portion size.

Each wine or wine flight comes with little cards that describe the wine. Fun and witty to read.

Service here may be a bit scatter brained at times, but that's because this place is pretty small that can get packed quickly. But friendly service. There's no waiting area, so best do a reservation if you can.

Favorite place in Downtown Leesburg!  I recommend coming between 3-6 Tue-Friday if you're able to for happy hour drinks & small bites.  Also, during the week they have daily lunch specials that always impress for just $8!   Keep in mind the WK is quaint so come early if you're impatient.

Hidden gem in Leesburg! Food was great! The salad with ham and Scottish egg is my favorite I had it for app and dessert!) The chicken and waffles is also really good! Can't beat the $9 wine flights special on Tuesdays! I'll definitely be back to try their other food offerings. Staff was great. The place is small but it is just right.

Came here with some girlfriends for my 30th birthday dinner. Loved it and will definitely come back! We had to wait (naturally, as it's a pretty small but popular place). However, the wait staff was very attentive while we waited - filled our wine glasses, asked us if we wanted appetizers.  Once we sat down the service was also just as good.  Had the gnocchi - AMAZE. Would definitely go again!

    - Be prepare to wait - but it's worth it!

I thought about giving 3 stars, but the quality of the food compelled me to rate this place a 4.

My family and I ate here 2 weeks in a row, both on a Sunday arriving around 1:30 for lunch. This restaurant is small, so the first time we went we were happy to see that the place was reasonably full (often indicating good food) and to see that we could be seated right away. Today the place was packed, so we had to wait. This is how my review will begin.

I was surprised to see that another reviewer here was able to mark reservations. I did not bother to call to make one because Yelp said they do not take them. The host at the restaurant said today's wait would be 15-20 minutes. Wrong. The wait was 30. For a hungry diner, that extra 10-15 minutes is a long time. I shaved some fractions of stars for that.

The place had live entertainment both times we went. The entertainment was not a problem the first time we went. Today, however, we had to stand for 30 minutes in front of the singer who performed in a small area that looked like a waiting area with a bench. We stood there, looking at the bench we wished we could sit on. The acoustics in the restaurant is not good, and the place is louder than the "average" Yelp says that
it is. The singer and keyboard accompanying her just added more noise. NOTE TO WINE KITCHEN: Cut out the entertainment and use the space to add one or two more tables if you are this busy all the time.

One more bit of tough love before the positive stuff. I struck up a conversation with our server about how crowded this small place was, and he said that the lines are getting longer all the time because people are beginning to discover this place. I am happy for them that they are becoming successful ($8K for one night's dinner service in a tiny place!), but their kitchen needs to learn to keep pace with the crowd. The time between apps and entrees took too long.

OK, on to the reason I am a fan. The food is overall very good, and the prices are almost a value relative to the quality of food. Here is a list of what I sampled, with my opinion:

Beet salad: Not bad, but would be great if the goat cheese had more tang.

Charcuterie: Very good. The duck prosciutto and the head cheese very good, if you go for that sort of thing.

Mushroom and spinach salad: Good balance of favors, not too acidic.

Grouper: OK, but too salty after a couple of bites.

Rabbit: Very good, especially the noodles.

Mussels and shrimp puttanesca: Very good balance of flavors.

Scallops: The shellfish and purée were very good, but something seemed lacking. Perhaps it almost seemed like an appetizer with carrots added just to make it seem like an entree? Some bits of pork belly or pancetta would have added goo gobs to this dish.

Pork chops: Very good. For me, a hunk of meat on a plate like a steak or chop without sauce generally falls into one of two categories. One, I can do this at home. Two, this is fantastic. The pork chop was in category two.

To summarize, 1) be honest about the wait time, 2) get rid of the entertainment in a loud setting when you can use the space to add a table or two, 3) get your kitchen able to handle your popularity, and 4) your food is overall superb relative to price.

The staff is very friendly and even though we arrived before our reservation, they went out of their way to seat us when the place was packed.  That meant a lot to me since it was my girlfriend's birthday.

While we looked over the menus and waited for our food, we each got a tasting of four wines. Fun! You can check our wine flights in my pic (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-wine-kitchen-leesburg?select=B0ciuXzzYnKdLOvYgya-sg#B0ciuXzzYnKdLOvYgya-sg">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>)

My gf loved her scallop dish! She said the spinach was a great complement and the sauce was excellent (<a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-wine-kitchen-leesburg?select=B0ciuXzzYnKdLOvYgya-sg#kCWMPNadVVP3XJUVIzCEbw">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>).  She also stole a huge chunk of my quail dish :( <a href="http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-wine-kitchen-leesburg?select=B0ciuXzzYnKdLOvYgya-sg#V_ljj_hw0AktlmlVV8DxpQ">http://www.yelp.com/biz_…</a>  (CORRECTION: She just told me she didn't "steal" it;  she did it right in front of me ...it was more like she bullied me like back in 4th grade when the 5th graders took my lunch money)

The area has a ton of wineries (for the east coast) so the Wine Kitchen fits in perfect.  If you just did some wine tasting, this place is a great place to pick up some excellent grub that pairs well with wine.  However, MAKE SOME RESERVATIONS because the place gets busy!

Came here for lunch and were very impressed.
Roast chicken pasta and Open-face shortrib pot pie were awesome.  The shortrib was braised perfectly (in red wine, I think).  For dessert we had the Chocolate-Hazelnut Torta Palla and the Ginger-Grapefruit Curd.  The palla was kind of perfect - a deep, delicious chocolate experience with some refreshing cream.  The ginger-grapefruit curd was tasty; glad we had it, but would go with the palla (or the apple pie w/ cognac syrup that the people next to us had and were raving about) next time.  Service is not the fastest, but they are very courteous and friendly.

Love this place the food is quality with as many local ingredients as they can get a hold of. Creative, small, tasty plates. I have been at least a dozen times and yes, sometimes you have to wait but it is worth it. Try to chose and off time to really appreciate the nice cozy atmosphere. Love the wine description cards fun and informative as well.

My husband and I ate here last night for our date night and the food was fabulous! I had the rabbit ragout and my hubby had the pork loin. Both were flavorful with great presentation. I had the taste all three of one of the wine selections and husband had beer. Though the beer selection was small, it was mighty. Overall, we had a great experience. We walked right in and sat down at about 5pm on a Saturday, but it did get very packed shortly thereafter. Get there a little early if you don't want to wait!

    Lovely wine selection.
    Good service.
    Innovative food at reasonable prices.

Very fairly priced considering some of the creative dishes.  I had some wonderful tender gnocchi with butternut squash and walnuts in a port wine reduction.

It is small, not romantic, but food and service are good and worth a return visit.   It gets a bit loud and runs toward a bar atmosphere.

Had friends out from DC and thought the Wine Kitchen would be a nice place to converse, eat, and drink....we had planned to meet at 6 thinking it would only be a short wait for a table.  They actually arrived at 5:30 and we had to wait 2 HOURS for a table of four.  In hind sight we should have left, but considering we were "the next table" for an hour, we kept sticking it out.
Not sure how they plan out their seating, but I saw a few instances where they were sitting couples at four top tables, which IMO is not a smart business model for an extremely limited seating restaurant.  We have been patrons several times before, and this was probably the most mediocre the food has ever been.  Nothing was bad, but nothing was outstanding either.  The tab was reasonable, but honestly, it will be awhile before I try it again.  If you're not a super food snob and you don't mind waiting, the atmosphere is fun and the wines we had were very good...especially for the $$.

As good as it gets in Loudoun County!  Finally, someone has brought D.C. quality food and a forward thinking, seasonal menu to Leesburg... what a beautiful thing.  Good pricing... great specials... I'm a big fan!

Limited seating... but worth the wait.

After being turned away at the stuffy Lightfoot, we luck boxed our way into the Wine Kitchen.  The ambiance is causal and the staff is wonderful, very charming and quaint.  It's a place where I could see being a local hangout.

There was a nice wine selection to choose from; they even had fleets of wine tastings for you to try. They even have nice combos picked out.  I had the "roll out the red carpet" tasting which had a nice Cab, Syrah and Tempranillo. As a Vegetarian and with this being more of a charcuterie, the menu was a little limited. However everything seemed sustainable and I was still able to find a dish or two to enjoy.  I had the Olives, Wild Mushroom and Rice soup and rounded everything off with the Pinot Noir reduced Gnocchi.  All very delicious.

All in all,  I'm happy I stumbled across this great find.

I didn't want to like you this much. My wife and daughter, who visited The Wine Kitchen on a previous occasion for brunch, assured me the food was excellent. I was skeptical. I have high standards, am unreasonably demanding and quite possibly a  prig. (Prior to dining at The Wine Kitchen, the only other place I found in the Leesburg area with excellent food was Pho Royal. If you like authentic Vietnamese, try it!) But I fell in love with you. Your seared scallops not only haunt my dreams, but have left me wondering if man, as cook, has finally evolved to a higher plane of existence. You'll be seeing more of me.

I really wanted to like The Wine Kitchen and like it a lot. We dropped in on a Sunday evening and were immediately seated.  Reading the reviews, we were expecting very high quality food, but came away a bit disappointed. As an entree, I ordered the South American Spiced Roasted Quail with a bacon, cheese, and corn tamale, and edamame "salsa". The quail was served over a spicy mole.   I also ordered a cauliflower soup finished with truffle oil and cracked pepper.  Fortunately they had run out of the soup de jour, as this substitute was quite delicious.  This should be a signature  soup as it was the best dish I had all evening.

The quail dish over the mole "sauce" was spicy enough, but not so much as to overpower everything else.  Quite good.  The bacon, cheese, and corn tamale was very good - not "Mexican style," but done with a more authentic South American flair.  The edamame "salsa" was basically soy beans with small heirloom tomatoes and diced onions.  Not particularly memorable.

Unfortunately, the waiter forgot my soup, so it did come with my entree.  Like I said, that was the best part of the meal.

They had also run our of their entree special, and it wasn't quite even 7:00pm, so that was a bit disappointing as I might have wanted to order that dish.  As I said earlier, the place wasn't full and we were seated right away.

Another small complaint is that we ordered our desserts when we ordered our entrees; however, once it was dessert time, they had run out of one of our chosen requests.  I would have hoped that they would have set them aside as the dessert was to be served cool - set out of the refrigerator, prior to serving.

I also tried my wife's entree - pork loin saltimbocca, with Serrano ham, fontina cheese and sage velouté.  It was just 'ok' as the Serrano ham definitely overpowers the pork loin.

Finally, we did get a dessert of Tiramisu Torta Palla with creme anglaise.  While it was good and tiramisu in name, it did not taste like tiramisu.  This is a situation where the pastry chef tried a bit too hard to reinvent a classic like tiramisu, but failed in capturing all of the different tiramisu tastes and textures one should expect. For example, the lady fingers - an integral part of any good tiramisu, should be represented in the dish.  It was not.  Not a bad dessert by a long shot - just don't call it that.  I'm all for inventive ways to present differing flavors of a classic, but this one, while good, does fall a bit short.

We will definitely be back as there is more in the menu to try.

After reading the other reviews, my husband and I were really looking forward to trying this restaurant.  Great ambiance, good food, and good wait staff. Note the word "good" - not "great".  There's something missing in the food. It's tasty, but lacks the je ne sais quoi that could make it great.
We ate here on a Sunday night, so not crowded. We were seated immediately, but offered a tiny table next to another couple. I asked for another table and they obliged. If we had sat where they tried to seat us, we would have been about one foot from the other couple. In short: tables are way too close together.
About three minutes after being told the specials, we were advised that they were out of them both. Shouldn't the waiter have known this when we were seated?
Onto the food. The menu changes rather consistently, but here's what we had. My husband ordered a starter of the cauliflower soup and the South American Spiced Roasted Quail. I ordered just the Pork Loin Saltimbocca. The waiter was very knowledgable and explained each dish in detail. We both ordered dessert when we ordered dinner. This is because I ordered the chocolate pot de creme (as you should know, it needs to set out at room temperature for about fifteen minutes before serving) and my husband ordered the Tiramisu Torta Palla.
Here's where things went wrong. Our entrees arrived and I inquired about my husband's soup. They had completely forgotten to bring it out, apologized, and brought it then. Little did we know at the time, but this turned out to be the best dish of the meal.
The quail was quite tasty, the mole' sauce was just spicy enough, but the meal lacked that little something special. Same thing with my Saltimbocca - except mine was not quite as good. The layers were present but not enough so that you the flavors blended. Pork tenderloin topped with sage velouté, topped with fontina cheese, then Serrano ham. First, the ham was too crispy which made cutting a perfect bite impossible. It also provided so much saltiness that the sage (too little) was lost. The side dishes were unpleasant at best. The Brussels sprouts were way under-sautéed, the fried polenta cake was way over-sautéed.
We leisurely ate our dinners, sampling each others and commenting on flavors, textures, and consistency of bite to bite. When we finished our dinner, the waiter removed our plates and at this point told us they were out of the pot de creme'!!
I ordered this thirty-five minutes ago and now you tell me you're out.
On the upshot, the interpretive tiramisu was tasty. I would not call it tiramisu or a torta. There was a slight resemblance to tiramisu, but not so much that you'd noticed if you weren't tasting for it. However, it was quite good. The dessert was more like two giant marzipan balls flavored with Rum and dipped into espresso flavored chocolate. Like I said, quite tasty just don't call it tiramisu.
Since they were now out of pot de creme, we shared the Torta Palla and each ordered a cup of coffee - brewed one cup at a time and the only sweetener was vanilla infused simple syrup. Not bad, but I want my coffee to taste like coffee - not vanilla flavored coffee.
We will return to try other dishes. I will update my review if I am more impressed than I was on this occasion.

Enjoyed a very pleasant weekday lunch here.  The pricing and selection of the wine flights is excellent.

We split the mussels with chorizo and potatoes followed by the Cuban sandwich.  Both were very tasty, especially the homemade pickles on the sammy and the accompanying house made potato chips.  Portion sizes are modest which leaves you room for dessert.

The dessert we had was truly special, salted chocolate truffles with bourbon caramel sauce and cream.  Service was friendly and just a tad slow.  They would likely accommodate if you told them you were in a hurry, which luckily we were not.

A very small place, can understand how it can get super busy.  Skip weekends all together and stick to lunch if you don't want to fight a crowd.  We will return!

It's rare that I venture out in my home town and dine.  Being that Leesburg is just too out of the way for the majority of people I know.  However, I'm glad I was able to get dinner this past Sunday here.

The Wine Kitchen is located right in old town Leesburg, next to the Leesburg Restaurant.  If you weren't looking for it, you would probably miss it.

I love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant.  Very casual, yet cozy and elegant at the same time.  There isn't much seating and from what I understand from the reviews it can get busy on weekend nights.  However, there was plenty of seating available when I went this past Sunday.  They do not take reservations either as I found out.

Now Yelp lists the Wine Kitchen as a tapas style restaurant, however I would like to correct that and say that it isn't!  There are a few options on the menu that can be shared, but only a few.  The entrees are sized as realistic and more like a lunch portion sized entree.

I order the local flavor flight of wines which feature two wineries from Leesburg and one from Waterford.  I absolutely loved the white wine from Waterford which came from Loudoun Valley Vineyards.  It was a cross between a Seyval Blanc and a Traminette.  You can easily taste the hint of peach from the white.  The reds by themselves were a bit boring, but paired with my local pork loin they were absolutely delightful.  The reds were listed as a cab and a merlot.

I opt for the roasted local pork loin, which came with a squash and zucchini ratatouille, a bacon and herb spaetzel, and the pork topped with a peach pan sauce.  Absolutely delicious!  The local red wines paired perfectly with the pork loin!   Cooked perfectly and I wanted to savor every minute of it.  I also ordered a side of the mac and cheese, which was highly recommended on Yelp.  Easily one of the best I've had in a long time.  They don't use your typical off the shelf cheddar here.

My friend ordered the local rib eye and complained that the steak could've used a bit more salt and pepper but otherwise was happy.

I definitely want to come back and try their fried chicken as I was told that it is fried in duck fat.  Yes, duck fat.

Great restaurant in old town Leesburg and easily my favorite.  I will be back!

Great Wine Selection and a wide variety of flights. Atmosphere, food, and service was excellent!
Our group of 6 went for lunch on a Saturday. We each had a different wine flight and all the wines were enjoyable, reasonably priced and from smaller boutique wineries. We were Very impressed with the great selection!  We started with a cheese plate. All three cheeses were unique and delicious, and the oil from the olive app. was excellent for dipping our extra bread in.

We each ordered another delicious glass of wine to enjoy with our main meal. The scallops were cooked perfectly, over a bed of risotto. The seared tuna burger was more of a slider than a burger, but absolutely delicious. I wish it had come with a light arugula salad rather than fried potato chips. Their salads looked AMAZING. The chicken pasta had a sweet BBQ type glaze and was well liked by the group. The strawberry and feta  Bibb  salad was out of this world, and the short rib pot pie had great reviews too.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a "TAPAS" place, although a few items on the menu were easily shared, most were lunch portion meals.

Overall, We had a great time, all of the food we ordered was delicious, the wine rocked, and the service was spot on. We will definitely be back next time we come through Leesburg, Virginia!

Have started to make this place a regular destination.  The food and wine never disappoint!!!  Made it to a happy hour special a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed the Squash Blossoms and Meat Balls.  I love to try new combinations and they always have new things to try.

I love the cozy, intimate atmosphere and comfortable seating near the front door.

The wait staff could be a little bit more timely and friendly but the food usually arrives promptly.

    Will definitely be back!

P.S. Tried the Duck & Waffles and it was superb!!!

Went last night with my wife since my son is at the beach.  I'll get my criticism out of the way right up front. We specifically went on Wednsesday because the web-site advertised "Everything from scratch short rib tacos." Much to our chagrine, the tacos were roasted Mahi Mahi. Both fine foods, but hardly interchangeable ;-)

Other than that, I have nothing negative to say. The wines were certainly unique. I am an unabashed wino -- with a "small" cellar of 800 bottles. I hadn't heard of ANY of the wines on the list. I had a flight of "Rockin' Reds" and a flight of "A rose is a Rose is a Rose." Great wines for a great price -- the reds were $12 for three pours and the roses were $9.

The food was equally good -- we had Lemon Risotto Balls, House-made Meatballs, Ham and Cheese Croquettes, Cajun Shrimp, Wild Game Ravioli and a Cheddar/Chive biscuit.. Aside from the fact that the meat in the ravioli could have been anything it was all very well prepared and extremely tasty. But the star was the biscuit -- it was like it was made out of spoonbread -- and was served with a Jalapeno butter. Don't miss it.

Happy hour is from 3 - 6 and they have 4 or 5 small plates and house wines at special prices. I am going back. Many times.

One of the best places to go for wine in Northern Virginia. They offer an amazing variety of wines and even flights of three at picture perfect prices. You don't find run of the mill wine from the grocery store here, but you're sure to find something you just can't go home without. Different flights range from $8 to $15, worth every penny, for the velvety goodness and alluringly aromatic wine that each glass holds.

The food is delicious too, the meat/cheese platter is always interesting and almost exotic. The chutney and sauces they create as pairings literally melt in your mouth. The menu leaves one wanting to order everything just to try it.

My group actually stumbled upon this restaurant using Yelp! It got such good reviews we decided to try it and it was really close to where we were located. We went for lunch.

Atmosphere is very causal and they had live acoustic band playing.

    Service:
excellent, prompt, knew the menu like the back of their hand

    Appetizer:

Mussels were amazing! The broth was so delicious I used all the bread so slurp it up! You have to try this if it is still on the menu! the mussels were a decent size and I like how they cooked the chorizo. very yummy

    Entree:

Duck Confit / truffle Parmesan polenta / cherry and cracked pepper gastrique / shaved Brussels sprouts:
This is the first time I have ever ate "confit" I was very surprised! I absolutely loved my dish! the duck skin was so crispy and crunchy and the meat practically fell off the bone. So tender, moist, and juicy. Polenta was creamy and really enjoyable and the brussel sprouts on top of the polenta didn't even taste like brussel sprouts. The Cherry and cracked pepper sauce is awesome! I had to ask for more and ate every single last drop of it!

    Highly recommend This dish

OK. I always give the local non-chain restaurant extra star to support them. So, the wine kitchen is really a four star, but here goes my extra star.

It is such an adorable restaurant!! Located nearby the lees burg premium outlet mall, in this little historic town, the wine kitchen is a wonderful spot to dine after a long day of shopping.

This place is a bit of quirky and rustic feel to it, and the staff is quite nice. Not so many seatings are available, so do go early or make a reservation.

In addition to a nice and expansive selection of wine - they also have GREAT food. Both of our dishes came with vegetable, adding fresh and crisp taste and texture to our main dishes. A hint to southern influence (grits and smoky sauces) made everything we ordered simply so delicious!!

Firsttimers, I definitely recommend the wine flight - they do a great job of putting together perfect series, and their tasting notes are funny and insightful. I secretly hope that this place doesn't get too popular... because I want it to stay this way. I really loved dining at the wine kitchen, and I am definitely coming back with friends and family.

    Happy sipping and dining. :)

Went to the Wine Kitchen for dinner last night with a friend from MD and I can honestly say that this is my new favorite restaurant in NoVA. Historic Leesburg is an extraordinary, quaint and culturally thriving area with cute shops and rustic eateries such as this one. I make the drive to Leesburg every now and then for the outlets and winery, but this was my first official visit to the historic downtown area.

After a whirlwind day at work, we settled in for dinner and 1.5 flights of wine each: the Taste of Spain, the Grape Unknown and shared the Summer Trio. tastings range from $8-14 which is a good deal for such a great place. The tastings came with cards for each tasting, indicating the name of the 5 W's (classic graphic organizer style, can you tell that I'm a teacher?): who, what, where , when and what we thought. We took turns reading each card. The narratives were very descriptive and made me feel like I was having a dreamy love affair with each taste of wine (and there was plenty of water to help with the transition of flavors).

***Here's an example: "such refreshing scents of kiwi and fresh herbs distract your speech. With a soft, warm embrace on the finish, it is only after the last drop is gone that you realize she just stole your watch..."

We definitely ordered too much food and were stuffed, plus had leftovers to bring home to enjoy the next day. We started out with the butternut squash soup which tasted like it was just picked out of the earth; the shared the Mac n' Cheese per our server's request and ricotta cornbread, both featuring amazing textures and melt in your mouth creamy goodness. We got so caught up in catching over over flights of wine that we almost forgot about the main courses: potato gnocchi with kale, shaved Parma cheese, basilico aioli and pine nut veggie meatballs and a fresh spinach salad with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese rolls. Absolutely delightful.

Space was also an issue, since we sat at the bar but our server was excellent and kept rearranging the plates for us in the most compact, space efficient way. Nothing was spilled or overcrowded. She rocked at visualization and was an excellent waitress as well.

All in all, we were extremely satisfied with such a wonderful dining experience. Next time, we will definitely save room in our carb filled tummies for dessert and some other wine flights. Simply put, the wine kitchen is a place that warms your heart and soothes the soul. The food, wine and service is on bar with what you might find in NyC and Rome, made with the utmost quality and passion.

I'm writing this, without polluting my thoughts and reading the others.

I like this place - to me, it's a cozy atmosphere - I've been here 3 times, once with a date, when it first opened, and tapas was the thing, then with a larger group - 6, and last fall with a couple other folks.

It is small - so I'd recommend smaller parties.  We waited neart the bar ( that was full too), and had wine, and it seemed the folks at the bar were even eating there.

My take was the crowd was a little older than me actually, and I'm 44 - seemed like a perfect place for an empty nester with some cash to blow, and eat out a lot, or in our case, someone's birthday, so special occasion.  Or some dates, often younger people, looking awkward.

I support any place that is decent, in downtown Leesburg, since some of the neighboring joints are crap.  Downtown has a great vibe, if quiet is your vibe.  Hell, if it's Friday night, and you're feeling crazy, walk down to Payne's Biker Bar and belt out some songs with karaoke, and drink beer and shot of JD with the best of em.

Unfortunately, I regret to change my opinion of  TWK. The last two times I have gone, I have found the wait staff has become a bit pretentious and the overall service is slow.

All of this I would ignore had my meals been up to par. My most current meal, an $11 roast chicken salad was not very good; the chicken itself tasted more like canned tuna and it was combined with a rather bland vinaigrette over fresh greens and dill. If I had been asked how my meal was, I would have responded "disappointing" but the only time we saw our server was when she took our food and drink orders and dropped off the food. It's a small restaurant and it was not packed when we were there.

It was not the most pleasing of meals. I was really disappointed because I prefer to eat in local establishments that serve local farm-fresh foods. It could have been an  off day in the kitchen, but it may be a while before I return.
