I originally said I had mixed feelings about this place. Â I swung by last week for some supplies (strings, and a cord), Â and I'm not longer on the fence. Â Their selection of everything is very skimpy, and the prices are really high. Â Like 40% higher than they should be. Â
The whole vibe of the place stinks. Â Despite what an earlier reviewer said, Deb has not sold the place. Not yet anyway. She probably should, it's dying a very slow, agonizing death. Â Since Sandy's has closed I think this is the worst music store in the entire area. Â It pains me to say this, it really does. Â I'd love to support local businesses. But not if they are not trying, and this place is not trying anymore.
This is a much condensed and nicer revision to my earlier update. Â I was steaming at what I paid for a couple of sets of strings. Â I've calmed down, Â but I'm never going back to this store unless I hear that it's changed ownership.
I am brand new to the violin, and I stopped in here to get a busted string replaced. Â I bought a full set of strings and a practice mute, and I asked the guy working if he would be able to replace the string for me, and he obliged. Â Overall he was very helpful. Â
I do have to agree with the other posters who say this place is expensive... after my purchase I looked online to see how much the same set would go for elsewhere... and it was about $20 cheaper online. Â I'll probably go elsewhere next time. Â
