If there were 6 Yelp Stars I would give it to 'em!

This place is a MUST stop for us when visiting Boston...this is really WHY I love to visit Boston. Why this place isn't always PACKED I have no idea. Service is always great, fast, great beers, amazing pizza AND entrees, wings are good too! My only hint is to order another pizza to go so you can have more for breakfast the next day.

We always get wings...a kitchen sink pizza and my favorite the greek pizza. (its topped with a ton of arugula and the best dressing!) Great restaurants for kids. Park in the back bay and take the T to all the sites. Great place to watch sports and just grab a beer.

A true hidden gem in the Backbay. Consistently, one of the best clean, friendly, delicious restaurants.

now i'm drooling thinking about their pizza...

A pre-sox game gem.  Great wings and pizza. Wings I can not stress enough, awesome spice to them and straight outta the wood fired oven. The walk to Fenway is under ten minutes.  I Highly suggest parking in the Northeastern area prior to a game and taking a walk down to Woody's. Save on parking and eat good. Solid beers are always on tap and the food is consistently solid.  Save yourself from dealing with the pregame crowds at the typical fenway establishments and stop here.

This is my favorite neighborhood pizza place.  The pizza is cooked in a real fire pit and you can watch them make it.  They always have new beers on tap, and the servers are attentive and nice.  I go here a lot because it's more than a neighborhood hangout than a destination, and you can easily miss it because it's the only reastaurant on the block.  But it is so good, I'm happy to live in Symphony.

We were looking for a place for a good craft beer and a light dinner.  We were seriously disappointed in the beer menu.  My husband loves IPA's and tried one - it was very weak.  We ended up drinking light beer!

If you are looking brightly lite pizza place in the midst of a college campus, Woody's would fit the bill.  It is a step up from your local pizza parlor.  We had a salad, the vegtables were fresh and the combination of choices good.  They didn't bring the right salad for my husband the first time but corrected it.  The wait staff was a bit slow to bring food and check on the order they delivered.

We won't go back - not our kind of place

I love wood-fired brick-oven pizza. It is my absolute favorite dish. After searching high and low in Boston, I have only found a few places that offer wood-fired brick-oven pizzas. I was thrilled when I learnt of Woody's last week, hoping it would be as good as the pizza back home.

The service throughout the nice was great. We were seated promptly, offered drinks, and our order was taken. We ordered the chicken fingers as an appetizer and a pizza as the entree.

Our appetizers arrived quickly. They were pretty good, not too spicy, but a decent portion size.

The problem (and I am not sure who to blame) was my entree order got messed up. I ordered my pizza with "light on the cheese" (hoping to get a normal amount), and "cooked well done" (hoping to brown the cheese). What I got was a pizza with a lot of cheese and mildly cooked. I started to feel nauseous just looking at it.

My wife and I managed to eat two pieces each (after removing clumps of cheese). We took the rest home. I am someone who does *not* like to waste food. I thoroughly believe in leftovers (especially pizza), but the two of use just couldn't pull ourselves to eat it, and we threw it out the next day.

I am not sure why everyone likes Woodys. Maybe they were having an off-day, who knows. One thing for certain, I will never be returning. This experience has tarnished their name for us, which is unfortunate because I was really hoping to find a good, close wood-fired brick-oven pizza joint.

I got the tofu and portobello on ciabatta. While the contents were good, there was barely any tofu and one tiny little portobello was in there. It was mostly salad. My biggest problem with the sandwich was that the ciabatta bread had a weird "old" texture to it like it was one day away from molding. Gross! After a few bites of the bread, I had to put it aside to just eat the contents. Not a pleasant experience.

Love Woody's! An awesome down-the-street place to drop in for pizza or burgers, build your own or pick from some amazing combos on the menu. Great selection of beers on tap, esp local brews.

Loved that linguica was an option for pizza toppings; their hot wings are solid, too. Brick oven thin crust pizza is what you get here, and plenty of it.

Friendly service and local art on the wall are icing on the cake.

Great location with T stops nearby and right smack between Boston Conservatory and Northeastern residence neighborhoods, close to the MFA and Symphony Hall - a great place to go especially if you're looking for something a bit quieter, it's off the busy streets but still easy to get to.

I feel strange giving Woody's such a low review because it seems to get many compliments on its food. I, however, was not impressed. Maybe they were just having an off day, but nevertheless:

We went for a birthday dinner, and I think we were all looking forward to it since none of us had ever dined at Woody's before. It was a Wednesday night so it wasn't very crowded, and we got seated quickly. The menu was very underwhelming, as there weren't many options that popped out at me and that I wanted to eat. I then decided to make my own pizza with artichokes, chicken, and tomatoes. After we all ordered, the food came out pretty quickly, but this is where the trouble started.

Some of my friends ordered the spinach-artichoke dip, which was, and I quote: "The worst spinach-artichoke dip I have ever tasted." After trying it, I had to agree. It was barely warm and there was an overwhelming amount of spinach on it, kind of like if you put a spoonful of sauteed spinach on a tortilla chip and put 2 pieces of shredded mozzarella cheese on top. The tortilla chips also looked like they came straight out of a Tostinos bag in addition to being noticeably stale. The pizza was okay, but the crust was a little too doughy, which I believe is an indication of it being undercooked. One of my friends got a sandwich (I forgot which one), but she also said that the bread was soggy and it was "meh".

I also wasn't a huge fan of the fact that they don't do split checks and have a 2-credit card limit per table. You are located steps away from a college campus and you say that the policy is put into place to ensure efficiency of service? I'm sorry but that pretty much translates to laziness. Why can all other restaurants split checks while you can't? I don't know, it just kind of irked me since half of our party had to go out and walk around in the freezing cold to find an ATM since they didn't have any cash on them.

Not the best restaurant experience; I don't really ever plan on coming back willingly.

Came here with a large group of friends for dinner.  The food was solid, service was solid, keeping up with food and drink orders for our table of 7 people.  A decent list of beers and wines as well.  It's a nice place for a low key dinner, or after work drink.  It's also slightly more removed from the typical campus hangouts, so it's nice for a change of pace.

Woody's! I love you! Thank you for being right around the corner from my apartment (er, my boyfriend's apartment that I'm squatting in in exchange for sexual favors).

Ahem, moving on.  I love so many things about Woody's

    1. The "bar food" that is inexpensive is really delicious food that could rival some of the higher priced restaurants in the area. The pizza is also really good.  I also like that they always have decent specials, which means I can always expect something new.

    2. I like the "cheers" feel of things where regulars sit there, welcome the other regulars, and sip beers.  Everyone is friendly and it never gets obnoxiously loud.  A lot of the calmer and quieter bars have a stuffy feel to them.  This one makes you feel right at home.

    3. No hard alcohol = no stupid undergraduates who get wasted and loud

    4. Rich, the bartender.  He. Is. Awesome.  My boyfriend only eats fish and rabbit food.  He also only drinks specific beers during specific months due to his obsessive compulsive disorder that continues to go unmedicated despite my urging.  Rich always remembers my boyfriend (who is usually rather forgettable due to his shy introversion).  My boyfriend is pretty much blind and won't get new glasses.  Rich knows this and will go above and beyond by telling him what the day's fish special is.  He'll also remember the only beer that my boyfriend will be willing to drink that month.  He's a genuinely nice bartender who will remember you, what you like to eat, and what you're all about.

As an aside, I really can't stand the likes of people who give one star for things that are completely out of the restaurant's control or due to their own stupidity.  "I went on a federal holiday and they were closed!" Uhm, duh.  Really?

I live a block from Woody's, so it is often my go-to place for a bite to eat with family and friends. They have a few TVs for Boston sports, which I like.

The pizza is very good, as long as you like cheesy and salty (which I do). I recommend the Jamaican Jerk or the Chicken Sausage, but make sure you ask what the pizza of the day is. They usually have an awesome & interesting one. The beer selection is pretty solid (about a dozen beers) with some local brews.

However, the service is hit-or-miss, save the bartender, who is wonderfully nice. Service is not speedy, and they will occasionally screw up your order. I have never been treated with overt rudeness, but I'm not surprised by other reviewers' experiences with snotty waitresses.

All in all, a solid pizza place that I will keep going back to.

Okay, okay.....I'll admit it....I like Woody's. It's just so chill and local, what's not to love. The pizza's are pretty decent, some better than others. I think I figured out how to improve them. Ask for them to cook the pizza a little crispy, aka well-done, aka slightly browned, aka waaaay tastier. It just makes the crust nice and crispy that way, juuust how I like it. I still generally go with the cheese pizza, but the Jamaican Jerk Chicken is my back up.

Pretty solid options in beers (not amazing, but definitely solid, with some local choices). If you're debating whether or not to go to Woody's here's what you need to ask yourself: Am I a total beer snob? Am I a total pizza snob? If you are, you probably shouldn't come to Woody's. It's a great spot, but it's not trying to be your fancy craft-beer, artisanal pizza join. But, if you like small, local, reasonably priced pizza joints with decent service, solid pizza (some of them), decent beer selection, and a chill atmosphere.......well then you should go to Woody's. I wood......see what I did? Get it? Wood?

I would say that Woody's is pretty good, but unfortunately it seems that their wood-fired pizza skills can sometimes be rocky, especially on more "substantial" pizzas.  Ordered a Kitchen Sink and the Buffalo Chicken pizza special.  The Kitchen Sink was not cooked enough on one of the sides (they didn't spin enough I guess) which created a soggy crust that couldn't handle all the toppings.  Sad.  However the buffalo chicken pizza had much better topping proportion ratios and was favored by the masses.

Glad I read Yelp reviews and we ordered the Buffalo Wings as an App.  Great decision, thumbs up on those.

Minorly annoying that they only take 2 cards per table, so we were forced to do the "i'll get it for us, and you get it for you" thing, but whatever.  Manageable.

Flatbreads still trounces them any day though.

I've been to woody's so many times and always like it. BUT, tonight is the last night I visit.

We had THE WORST service there, and it was provided by the owner. She wasn't pleasant while serving, everything takes forever to come. In the end, I asked for a plastic bag for the food I wrapped up, and she COMPLETELY FORGET ABOUT IT so I had to get up and get it myself. I came back, crossed out the tip, because tip is according to the service, I didn't get the service I should have gotten!

She came right up to me and said "seriously? just bc of a bag?" then she started to yell at me about how much of a bad day she had and we sat there for two hrs and only ordered two things. I CAN DECIDE HOW LONG I WANT TO SIT THERE AND HOW MUCH FOOD I WANT TO ORDER, JUST AS ANYONE ELSE.

That was way too unprofessional and bitchy. If you see a cranky old woman as your sever, good luck. YOU NEED TO ORDER A LOT, SIT FOR TEN MINUTES AND TIP HER WELL OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET YELLED AT!!!!

NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER!!

The menu is quite diverse ranging from mostly standard American items with a slight ethnic influence, for example they offer a tabbouleh and house made falafel salad, and although the option was quite appealing I decided to change it up a bit and go with something different like the 8oz house made veggie burger made with lentils, chickpeas, potatoes, onions, shallots, and basil, topped with a red pepper spread, hot peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and romaine lettuce stuffed into a wrap and served alongside a crisp garden salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. Yum and for only $7.50 whats not to love!

This place is great offering up delicious, homemade, and cheap fare making it the ideal restaurant to go to for a simple lunch or dinner. Woodys is located in the Fenway area of Boston, it's open 7 days a week from 11:30 am-11 p.m.

Lulu lives on Hemenway Street so when we're in the mood for pizza but its not 2 am (hey BHOP) we head to this place.

Pizza is good here!! We've had a few different ones, I can think of Greek, Kitchen Sink, BBQ Chicken just to name a few.
We didn't love the Greek with its heaping topping of fresh salad, sure its probably the healthiest pizza you've ever had, but it just doesn't hit the spot.
Kitchen sink we did love! Full of toppings, its very flavorful and the opposite of a healthy pizza. YUM!

We've had calamari (sucked) and dessert (get the 5 layer chocolate cake its a bombshell) here as well.

Why come here? If you want a good pizza that isn't just a greasy fix. The place itself is very casual, a little bar and tvs. Don't bother wearing your nice jeans.

So I am reviewing this a year later to say we still come here every weekend and the dessert portions are the size you expect (some even bigger). Still the best pizza in Boston if you ask me!

My favorite place to go for pizza and everything else.

Woody's... *sigh* you've disappointed me. All I wanted was to enjoy some beers and dank food with my party of four, but you just had to f$&@ things up for us.

My dear friend Liz had just gotten back to Boston, but without her ID since her wallet had been stolen while home in Seattle. She had an RMV-issued temporary paper license and credit card backup, but the manager just wouldn't accept it. Our waitress' delivery of the dismal news could have been a little nicer. Sure, not being able to enjoy a beer over dinner with a friend isn't the end of the world, but it definitely put a damper on the whole experience. She was forced to sip her lemonade while we continued our buzz.

In their defense, the food was pretty good. In fact, one of our (drunk) party members argued (loudly, while we were still in the restaurant) that the experience was deserving of 4 stars and not 3. She consequently spilled her entire water all over the table. Needless to say, we wanted to get the hell outta there ASAP.

Back to the food. I got the chicken quesadilla (in honor of Cinco de Mayo) but with buffalo chicken instead of regular. For $8, I was expecting it to be larger than 6 inches in diameter, but it was tasty. I was still hungry after I devoured it, so my drunk friend was nice enough to give me a slice of her Special pizza with onions and spinach. It was pretty good, though very cheesy (and I LOVE cheese). I'm not sure if I'd be able to eat more than a slice or two.

Also, don't ever get a burger here. They're charred beyond recognition no matter how you like 'em cooked. Burnt to a crisp. Similar to when you burn the bread on a grilled cheese, but the cheese is still cold. Stay far away.

If I come back, I hope things start off on the right foot so I'm not bitter throughout the entire meal.

This pizza is the best in the city: Chicken sausage, sun-dried tomatoes and cheese

Dough is homemade, so is the sausage.....It is cooked in a brick oven

Great food in a simple, unpretentious place

I have to say that this place has improved so much since my college days at Northeastern back in the early to mid 2000's. Back then I remember it being okay but not awesome. The beer was always good and the pizza was tasty but their entrees left much to be desired.

But now several years later, and thanks to a new chef, their food is pretty dam good. Their specials are always great and include a fish option (I'm vegetarian now but before that revelation I remember the fish being delish did not mean to rhyme sorry.) I would recommend the salad that comes with the fried goat cheese balls on top....OMG sooo good!!!

Woody's was a wonderful discovery for me as I was roaming around Boston this weekend. I found their menu to be quite extensive with many salads, snadwiches and pizzas to choose from.

I tried the veggie pizza and it was gorgeous and Delicious!! I really enjoyed the variety of veggies including eggplant, zucchini, squash, arugula, and tomatoes. They have a fair number of specialty pizzas and they offer a "build your own pizza" option.

Service was terrific, prices were reasonable and the decor was bright and clean.

They have a little bar area as well with a good number of beers on tap.

All in all a great experience and a really great lunch!!

While attending Northeastern I walked by this place quite often and always wondered what it was like inside and if the food was good.  If the smell was any inclination at all it must be fantastic.  Since graduating I've now been here twice in about 5 months.

The smell as you walk in is even better than from the outside.  The brick oven pizza, especially the buffalo, is amazing but you absolutely must try the spinach gnocchi, it is to die for.  So after having this deeelicious appetizer I chose the chicken sandwich and salad instead of the fries. Once again, trying to tell myself that grilled chicken and salad is better than a burger and fries.

An appetizer and entree later I was once again completely satisfied with my experience here!

Check out my blog for some photos!

This place never disappoints me. They have delicious pizza and delicious beer. This is really all I need to be happy. The draft list is great. I kept ordered sea-dog ale and each time the waitress would say, "Hair of the sea dog that bit me coming up!" I have a special place in my heart for zany waitresses and so good for her. Their pizza is very thin crusted and does not have much of cheese and so I feel slightly better about myself after I polish off five slices. The barbeque chicken makes me very happy! I also like the veggie pizza. They do put arugula on it and apparently this freaks some people out.

My two complaints? The menu is not available on-line. I have a weird obsession with knowing what I am up against before I go. Also, one time, the bottom of the pizza was burnt and when we complained the waiter said he could not do anything because we had already at some of it. 1) We were hungry. 2)How could we know the bottom was burnt without trying it? However, usually the pizza is cooked to perfection and the staff is wonderful.

I came here unexpectedly with a buddy. Well, basically, we were supposed to meet up, but he chose the exact time to meet up to go in and have dinner so I just kind of met him there. Luckily, it worked out well because I had an appetite and there was food.

Our server was nice and checked on us at the most appropriate times where we didn't feel ignored or suffocated. We started with the boneless buffalo and then got the special pizza of the day which was a white pizza with seared steak, gorgonzola, caramalized onions and green peppers.

The boneless buffalo was great. I love it when the sauce is spicy and extremely flavorful, but with less of it. I was able to get the same amount of heat as well as extremely crisp bites.

Next, the pizza came out and I'm glad we ordered a small since the boneless wings were pretty hearty. I really enjoyed the pizza. The cheese wasn't overwhelming at all, but subtle and sweet. The onions and peppers were a great touch with the sweetness, but I didn't like the steak. My friend thought it was totally fine, but I felt like the texture was strange. Taste-wise, it was fine, but the texture threw me off so I ended up taking it off and devouring the rest.

All in all, it was a pretty good meal and although I wouldn't necessarily crave Woody's for pizza, I also wouldn't hesitate of come back again.

This place could have gotten 4 stars.  The food was pretty decent, I ordered the baked penne, and the flavor combos were great.  I tried the pizzas and they are pretty good also, although with some of the pizzas they were uneatable without a fork and knife (especially the cheese pizza, but who cares was still good).

HOWEVER, I don't care if the credit card companies actually do charge for each transaction made (i think $1.50 each if I'm correct), there is no reason why there should be a 2 credit card limit on a party.  First of all, that rule is pretty unfair because I went with a party of 12 who did not expect to have that rule.  Second, think about it, what if there is a party of 2, so they can use their credit cards no problem?  Also, nothing a little PRing does not fix in terms of customer volume, people would go here if they actually knew about it.  Its right near cappys.  Their menus not even online, no website, not even a takeout menu to..well take out.  Seriously if they invested in PR and removed the credit card stipulation, the place can potentially get a higher volume of people.

Woodys gets pretty busy before Red Sox games (5pm-7pm), but if you can roll in at about 7:45, it should be all clear. Grab a seat at the bar, good cold beer on tap, and a great simple menu anchored by awesome wood-fired oven pizzas.

Very friendly service, good mix of locals, regulars, and some Sox stragglers, and great food.

Given it's proximity to my front door, I anticipate Woodys being a good stuck-at-home-winter-blizzard hangout.

UPDATE: while I don't really want more people coming here before Sox games, I just read the one star review based on fruit fly in beer and cockroach on table.  (a) The cockroach on the table is gross, but just about every urban restaurant has roaches; it's just a fact of life.  I'm not defending it, I'm just saying chill the F out when it happens because it happens here and in your favorite high end eateries as well.  (b) You're freaking out because a fruit fly fell into your drink?? That's not even within the restaurant's control, so just pluck it out with your finger and get on with life!

Going up to fake five stars to counter this one star.

After reading the reviews (and maybe because I had TC's on the brain) I thought this place would be... grimier. Older. A pizza place that had been around the block a few times. A stalwart bastion of Fenway/Kenmore pizza.

Nope. This place is brand spankin' new. It's got all the ambiance of a fern bar. That said, when I bellied up to the bar I noticed that almost everyone there knew at least one staff member and most of the other folks, so it's nice to see regulars in a friendly home. And that's one thing Woody's has that makes it stand out over its competition- it's super friendly in an authentic way, not a "have some more flair" way. Just a really comfortable place to sit down and grab a bite.

I got a Jerk Chicken pizza, which was, eh, alright. Apparently this jerk was only mildly annoying, because there was a large hole in the flavor profile where I was expecting "spice". No heat! A good caramel-y base, though. The menu said it had some Guinness in it, but I didn't taste any.

I don't get the excitement about "wood-fired" pizza. You know where else has wood-fired pizza? Bertucci's. And this place isn't any better.

Still, if I lived around here I'd stop by the bar on a regular basis just for the warm and welcoming atmosphere, so Woody's gets points for the, dare I say it, Cheers-factor.

I love this place. Awesome beer selection and great food. I especially like the chicken sandwich with the side salad. They recently changed up their menu a bit, and now they have a few more salad selections. I had a spinach salad that had these little fried cheese balls, and it was one of the yummiest salads I've ever had!

A word of warning: If you get the french fries, keep in mind that they are like potato wedges, and are so scalding hot, you need to wait about 20 minutes for them to cool enough to eat them. But they are so good you won't want to wait that long. They're almost worth burning your mouth over.

I'm giving the place 4 stars, cuz the service isn't consistent. Most of the time it's good though.

If my trip to Woody's was written in recipe form, it would go a little something like this:

    1. Enter Woody's.
    2. Wait 5 minutes to be acknowledged.
    3. Waitress will tell you that they just need to wipe down a table.
    4. Wait 5 minutes.
    5. Waiter will tell you that there isn't a tab- no, wait a second, he just needs to wipe one down.
    6. Wait 5 minutes.
    7. Waiter returns to entryway to grab menus and go to the table that still hasn't been wiped down.  Don't follow him!  He's not ready.
    8. Wait one minute.
    9. Sit, immediately order what you decided on eating in your first 5 minutes there.
    10. Wait 5 minutes.
    11. Repeat your order when the waiter returns and admits he forgot it.
    12. Enjoy speedy delivery and delicious taste of meal (where the stars of this review come from).

I really hope Woody's was grossly understaffed and that they don't rely on such service all the time.

Woody's is my all-time favorite neighborhood gourmet pizza place! I first came here when they had portuguese sausage pizza, years and years before yelp was around. They no longer have that pie, but there are a number of other good ones.

The real winner here though are the WINGS... so juicy, so tender, so full of meat. They're a little spicy, but don't use the generic buffalo sauce so many bars use. I like how they are fire-roasted and topped with scallions. I think they're my favorite in Boston.

Woody's also has some good burgers, and it's nice that they have some rotating brews on tap. For parking, you can park on the street or in the Bread & Circus garage on Westland.

Crispy, chewy, delicious pizzas.  I love the Greek and the mushroom.  I"m working my way up to trying the white clam pizza, I'm a little nervous about seafood served at a pizza joint.  The appeal of this place may be that it is only 3 blocks away from where I live.  But they do serve Blue Moon and they always seem to be busy.

Update:  I am adding a star to my initial review.  I have now been to Woody's multiple times and I love everything!  This is now my go to place whenever I don't want to cook.  Give it a try.

BEST PIZZA IN BOSTON!  As a self-identified pizza connoisseur I assure you that I do not throw this title around frivolously.  The only thing about Woody's that comes close to being as good as its pizza is the price of beer - Really cheap, good stuff! (We're talking $3.50-$4 for Ipswich, Harpoon, Guinness, etc.)

The waitstaff is very pleasant (the first bartender I had was an especially friendly man)  and the wood burning brick oven gives the whole place a warm, comforting feel and scent.

Dude, this place rocks.  It's hidden away and has a slightly cheezy name, which keeps it from being overcrowded with students and others.  We went on Saturday night around 7:00 and were seated right away.

the beer selection is good, with selections like Brooklyn Brown, Dogfish Head, and Cambridge Brewing Co.  Pints are under $4, which is a fantastic deal.

I drank wine, and for $6 a glass, got the biggest serving of Sauvignon Blanc I have ever had at a restaurant.  I had 2 glasses and it must have been equal to a half bottle of wine.  nice.

To eat, the spinach salad was well balanced, with really salty feta, sweet dressing, and lots of red onion.  All topped with strips of bacon.

The Jamacian Jerk pizza was almost perfect.  It was not greasy in the least, and had a very thin, very sturdy crust.  The flavor was great, but the chicken on top was a bit dry.  I'd order it again though and ask for some extra sauce on the side to drizzle on because it was really interesting and tasty.

Service was good, and our waitress let us stay at our table for another round of drinks after dinner was over, even though we said we'd be happy to move to the bar area.

    sweet.

I stumbled upon Woody's quite by accident in the Pre-Yelp Days (PYD) and it quickly became a neighborhood favorite. Everyone will tell you about the great pizza. And they are great. If you choose your own toppings and get the mesclun or  arugula greens your pizza will appear as though it gave birth to a huge salad. What I mean is, after the pizza is cooked, they pile the greens and a light italian dressing on top of your pizza. It sounds strange, I know. But really, it is very tasty. And cheaper than ordering a side dish!

But wait! This place has dishes other than pizza! And they are very good too! My ex-boyfriend loved their steak tips and is surely sorry he can't go there anymore since we broke up (I won the rights to Woody's in the conditions of our breakup). They have good burgers, appetizers and very tasty real potatoe french fries, you know the kind that are thickly cut into wedges and still have the skin on their backs. Niiice.

The service is up and down, depending on who you get. The atmosphere is simple but nice. All in all, a great place to go for some affordable yet tasty food.

An amazing pizza place hidden on Hemenway Street.  The restaurant is pretty small, but there is a good sized bar area and the turnover is relatively quick.  Reservations are not taken, so if you have a large group, be expected to wait a while.  While close to NU, NEC, etc, the crowd tends to be much, much older -- working professionals and up, which can lead to dirty  glares if you're young and making noise.

The staff is friendly and funny -- if you give them BS, they will BS back with you; if you're sweet, they'll be sweet.  The bartender is also a very nice guy, and the beer selection is quite good.  A dozen beers on tap, including rarities like Dogfish, Cambridge Valley (or something), and Tremont IPA.

The pizza itself is amazing -- the best in the NU area.  Oven cooked in front of you with a thinner crust, it's worth any wait.  My favorite is the barbecue chicken pizza, with carmelized onions and scallions.

Prices are great too -- For a large pizza and four beers (food / drink for two), expect to pay anywhere from $15 to $20 each, including tip.

Open kitchen, brick oven pizza, a bar with TVs usually tuned in to sports but with no volume, music playing, darker inside.

Waitstaffers are no-nonsense and talk to you like you've known them for years.

They also have a few interesting and rare local beers on tap, such as something from "Tremont brewery", I think I tried last time I was there.

A nice place for an informal date. Not alot of college students seem to come in here, it's mostly older residents of the Symphony / MassAve neighborhood.

I love this place. Their wood-fired pizzas are delicious, the beer selection is excellent, and the staff is quirky and fun. It's kind of tucked out of the way--behind the Boston Conservatory, so the crowd is generally "the usuals". A lot of conservatory students, some Berklee kids, but a good deal of slightly older people as well.

I'd recommend the "Greek Pizza"--feta cheese, kalmata olives, and big chunks of tomato topped with a huge pile of arugula. Aaaaah, yes. Delicious.

Price range is pretty decent--won't break the bank, but it's not dirt cheap.
