I don't find myself in Edison Park that often, but I had to schlep out here for a friend's shower.  I'm kind of glad I did.  I was pleasantly surprised by the food here (even if it was in family style form whilst being bombarded with pink baby products).

I'm just going to give you a run-down of the food because my opinion of anything else has been tainted by a) my intake of wine and b) the fact that I was at a PINK EVERYTHING BABY SHOWER.  Seriously, I have a bottle of glittery pink nail polish to prove it.

The menu was really solid:  Three types of bruschetta (I had two out of the three and they were AMAZING!), fried calamari (DELICIOUS and came with a great spicy marinara sauce), a Caesar and House salad (looked good...but I don't eat lettuce), pasta with red sauce (wish I could tell you what it was, but the sauce was good.  And I am PICKY about my marinara), chicken with prosciutto (PROSCIUTTO.  The end.), and pork tenderloin wrapped in pancetta (PORK!!  With gravy!!  YES!!!).  There was also some rosemary garlic potatoes and mashed garlic potatoes that were pretty good too.

If I ever find myself in Edison Park again, with a hankering for Italian, I'll be sure to come to Zia's.

I'm a sucker for the right ambiance- it can really set the tone for the rest of the night, and if it's lacking, well, needless to say, I probably won't come back.

Zia's definitely did not disappoint in that regard- intimate, but not small, classy, but not snobby. I like their bar area, it's where most of the crowd was, but the dining area with the exposed brick, cloth table covers and low lights is definitely the selling point.

The service was extremely friendly and for the most part efficient- i was disappointed to realize that it took the kitchen close to half an hour to bring out the food, but I was having such a good time catching up with a friend that I didn't weigh it too heavily. Also, the waitress seemed sincere when apologizing and offered, numerous times, dessert on the house ( THAT is how customer service is done, people!)

I ordered a classic- simple margherita pizza with a glass of white wine and my friend ordered the asparagus salad with a glass of red wine.

Everything was delicious!! (especially the bread with olive oil and Parmesan, yum!)

I was surprised at how thin the pizza was- it was exactly what I wanted- deliciousness minus the guilty feeling of eating carbs after 9.

My only negative is the street parking- a quarter for 7 minutes...ouch! I have a strong hate for all things parking-especially when it's that expensive. However, considering that we can stop paying at 9 and because I had such a fabulous time, the parking situation won't deter me from coming back.

Is there a parking lot? I didn't see it.

Here midday with a very large group - bruschetta was very good, didn't taste the calamari, chicken marsala was tasty - tira mi su magnifico!  All served family style-not a fan of paper tablecloths.  I'd return BUT getting through their entrance door with a wheelchair was a 45º nightmare.

Always pleased! The food is fantastic, the service is professional, the ambiance is great for a date, business dinner or friends night out! Half price appetizers on Wednesdays and $5 glasses of wine are a big plus!

This is a belated review- could've sworn I wrote one before but alas, I did not.  And it definitely deserves accolades!  We had a rehearsal dinner here for about 40-50 people.  I was stressed with planning our wedding and didn't have much energy to plan our rehearsal dinner.  I chose this restaurant based on Yelp reviews and spent 10 minutes talking to the manager and picking the food for our menu.  I planned this maybe a month ahead and didn't even bother to call them to review the menu or details right beforehand.  Honestly I was afraid that because it was so easy and I had done nothing to plan it, it was going to be a disaster.  When we showed up, our area was decorated so nice; they timed everything perfectly and led us to socialize, then eat, then open gifts and make speeches.  The food was absolutely delicious and they even printed up little menus for everyone.  I couldn't have asked for more!

Cute Italian restaurant/wine bar in Edison Park. Food is very tasty and atmosphere is nice. Love the interior, very warm and cozy. Staff is very attentive. The restaurant has a small bar area near front and two or so larger rooms near back which are great for larger groups or small/special events (birthdays, wedding or baby showers, etc). Great place to dine with family or friends!

Been about two years since my last visit and this place hasn't missed a step. Ordered the lasagna and it was excellent - cooked properly too; it seems like so many restaurants serve lasagna that has cool or cold spots in it.

Service was good as usual and everyone at our table enjoyed their meal. This place is really a "can't miss" spot for leaving with a very satisfying experience. It's no wonder that at the time of this review, Zia's overall ranking is 4 1/2 stars - it's well deserved.

It's perfect for place date night or a business dinner.

Zia's Trattoria is a favorite neighborhood restaurant of mine.  I can go there with a group of friends and we will all have a fantastic time. I can go there for a romantic dinner with my husband and we will have a fantastic time. Sometimes this place feels more like a club because we see so many people there from the neighborhood, regardless of why we are there. Edison Park is one of those neighborhoods. The parents, the dogwalkers, the grocery shoppers all know each other and we see each other at Zia's.  In addition to the spectacular food, it's just a lot of fun. It makes me feel really popular.

Best Italian in the area, IMO.  Decor / atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable.  I have sampled quite a few things on the menu after 5 or 6 visits, and nothing has ever disappointed.  A few were truly outstanding, and all were solidly good.  For appetizers, don't miss the Spiedino d' carne (grilled tenderloin tips and portabellos, bleu cheese, peppers, tomato and a chianti sauce).  AMAZING.  It's a great "date" location, though the dining room can get a little loud at times.  The bar area is beautiful as well.  Highly recommended.

I've been going to Zia's for at least 12 years, and I never ordered anything I did not like.    When you walk in, you see the bar section & it looks like great place to meet a friend for drinks.  I love the decor with brick exposure.  Whenever I had lunch or dinner there, I've been pleased with their menu & wait staff.

The restaurant is located in a cute area - Edison Park (real close to Park Ridge).  Unfortunately, no parking lot available but they offer valet service.

If you are in the Edison Park area, stop in.

Love it here and Zia's is our place for dinner out or a special occasion. Great atmosphere and always packed but never a long wait. Food is good and not overpriced. Friendly for kids because it's so loud (especially on a Fri/Sat night).

    Edison Park, ey?
I had no idea where this was, despite having spent time in Park Ridge in the past.  Driving here was a pain in the a-- for sure, which I figured so I opted to backseat drive.  My bf drove us from St. Charles to Zia's on a Friday night in about an hour.  My sister had made us privy to their free valet service, however it was not evident as to where you should pull up so my bf and I drove around only to find no street parking nearby.  We ended up parking at a pay lot about 2 blocks away near Edison Park Bowl, and were happy to learn that the metered parking ended @ 9pm.
The restaurant itself was extremely loud, and very crowded near the door which is the bar area.  We were quickly shuffled through the bar area to a main dining room, where we sat at a table for six.  There was warm, fresh bread on the table along with oil, Parmesan cheese and a delicious blend of olives, celery, and onion.  I really enjoyed it.
Our group also ordered the calamari as an appetizer, which was delicious and cooked perfectly.  The breading wasn't too heavy and the consistency was great.  I'd say the order is a good size for 2-3 people to split.
I also ordered a Caesar salad, which was very good.  Just a basic salad but everything was fresh and flavorful.
I had a ravioli special, which consisted of a cheese ravioli with vodka cream sauce.  It was so good!  I also tasted a bite of my mom's dish, which was equally as palatable.  My sister kept stealing bites from my plate, so I know she enjoyed it as well.  My dad got the rotolo, which was huge.  I've seen him order this dish at places such as Zaza's in St. Charles, and Spavone's in Roselle, and this portion exceeded the others two times over.  I didn't try any because it had meat in it but he said it was very good.
This restaurant is quite a hike for me, but I enjoyed everything that I tried and would be willing to make a trip again for the lively atmosphere and delicious, generous portions!!

We visited based on previous Yelp reviews before dropping someone at O'Hare and had a completely delightful lunch!  All of the food was delicious - the bread and salads were very fresh and crisp/crusty, the special scallop pasta was fantastic, and the rigatoni bolognese was uniquely special. The service was unobtrusive, prompt, and took care of all of our needs. And the military service "thank you" dessert was VERY much appreciated. Thank you for giving our family a memorable experience!

Good food.  But i wouldn't ever go out of my way to come here.   Butternut squash ravioli is highly overrated.  Tastes like a spoonful of brown sugar. Had some veal thing that basically reminded me of stew. But it was pretty good.  Wine seemed expensive for EP

Eh, went again this past weekend and I hope they were just having a bad night.  The linguine with seafood was no longer in a spicy sauce.  It was in an extremely salty marinara sauce.  I wish that three people in my party didn't get it based on my recommendation.  Service was sub-par.  They also sat us in the small brick-walled room.....I think this was the worst part......you couldn't hear yourself think due to terrible acoustics.  Not sure if I will be running back to Zia's with any enthusiasm again.

Best Rigatoni Bolognese I've had in years! Very rich and meaty.  Ditto on the Lasagna.  Starters were solid and $5 wine was very good!  Love the very flavorful olive oil they serve with the bread.

Edison Park has a ton of Italian restaurants. I'm not sure why, there really aren't that many restaurants in general, so to have multiple of anything doesn't make a lot of sense to me. In any case, we wanted to go to dinner before a movie in Park Ridge on a Monday nigh and much like the rest of Chicago, places just aren't open for diner service on Mondays.

I made the decision to go to Zia's because it looked to have an inspired Italian menu and has pretty decent Yelp reviews. I was not disappointed at all, but did have a couple of gripes.

We ordered the grilled polenta with sausage and peppers as an appetizer. It was really good. The polenta was firm and smokey from the grill. The sausage was savory and sweet and the sauce was flavorful. It was a huge portion and almost a meal itself. For an entree, I ordered the pork tenderloin wrapped in panchetta and served with escarole and beans. The pork was good, but a little bit overcooked for my liking. The escarole and beans were totally forgetable. It was a rather large portion and I was happy to eat it all. My wife had a special of some sort of white fish. I didn't try it, but she thought it was okay. It was covered in fried onions, which seemed a bit bizarre. They tasted fine, but it seriously was like a full blown plate of onion rings.

This place is hovers between a 3.5 and a 4 star place for me. The atmosphere was just okay. The prices are not insane, but you can get a better bang for your buck elsewhere. We spent around $70 for dinner and drinks.  I'd probably go back just to try a pasta dish and see if I'm missing anything. And like I said before in the area, your choice are pretty limited.

Great group visit!  We like trying lots of dishes, so when we explained how we wanted to share, she got it and put in our order to come out in two waves, family style.  My faves were the mushroom ravioli and soft shell crab (after 2 salads, 4 apps, 3 pastas, lamb entree & 2 desserts).  The mushroom ravioli was balanced & flavorful.  The lamb was fall off the bone tender.  The butternut squash ravioli was a little sweet & nicely nutty.  The crab had a crunchy & spicy kick to it.

I would be remiss not to mention our server, Jeanette.  She was timely, helpful & friendly.  She even ran outside to give us the leftovers that we forgot on the table when we left ...

    A great experience - food & service!

    MAMA ZIA!

Wow!  This place really exceeded my expectations.  I was out in Edison Park for a friend's birthday and stopped into Zia's for some dinner before the festivities.

    FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The place was packed which is always a good sign.  The dining room was sophisticated yet welcoming and casual at the same time.  Looking around at the patrons, people were dressed in everything from polos and shorts to suits and prom dresses.

    THE FOOD
Zia's kicked our meal off on a great note by having a great wine list with by the glass selections from Duckhorn and Ferrari-Carano, two of my favorite California wineries.  Next the bread arrived which was a home run.  Bread is too often an after thought, but at Zia's it really shines.  I can't think of the last time I've gotten bread so hot and fresh with that great yeasty aroma permeating the air.  It almost reminded me of a sourdough, it was so pleasantly pungent.

On to the pasta...  I am a sucker for a good bolognese sauce so I ordered the rigatoni.  What arrived makes my mouth water just thinking about it.  The portions were big enough for two and the sauce was chock full of shredded minced beef (short ribs, I think) instead of ground beef.  This was a wonderful surprise and added a ton of flavor to the sauce.

I'm not sure when I'll be back in Edison Park, but when I do I'll definitely be dining at Zia's.

Zia's is probably one of my favorite Edison Park restaurants.

Love the ambiance, wood floors, dim lighting, exposed brick.

Food is always good, had the tiramisu last night and it was excellent.

Service is usually good but had to wait a bit for a refill on the vino, the bus boy alerted our server for us when he came to clear the table.

Valet is a plus and it's complementary!

Zia's is great! I planned a business dinner here a few weeks ago and everyone LOVED the food. The menu I picked was the Calamari Fritti and Bruschette Al Tre Modo appetizers which were both amazing. The bruschette was super fresh tasting! For the main course we served Pollo Alla Caluzza (chicken with sun dried tomatoes, peas, goat cheese, white wine, and garlic) WOW. I've had a lot of chicken in my life..I don't think I've ever tasted anything like it. So juicy and tender..perfectly balanced flavors. I know you might not think to get chicken at an Italian restaurant...but seriously, just trust me and try it. It's impressive. We also had the Penne Primavera and Lasagna (which was gone immediately so I didn't even get to try it...but it must have been delicious!) Overall the experience was wonderful. The wait staff was very attentive and their service was top notch.

I wouldn't recommend hosting a business dinner here though. Even in the back room with the curtain closed the noise level was still too much, which made it difficult to hear our speaker. Other than that, it was a great experience. I've also heard amazing things about their chocolate martini and tirimisu! Definitely trying that next time ;)

The KGB and I met for an early (5:00pm) dinner at Zia's recently. I think we may have been there before, but that was before the advent of Yelp and my own aging process that means I can no longer experience the wine list like I once did. At least I remember what we ate during our recent dinner and can tell you how good it was.

Zia's interior reminds me of a more traditional-style Italian restaurant. Well, at least what we big-city midwesterners think of as an Italian restaurant. It felt homey and comfortable, but still managed to be elegant. I felt very relaxed there.

Since we were eating so early in the evening, we had no problem being seated immediately. I had a glass of a $5.00 cabernet that was "special" that evening, and it was very good. The KGB went with a pinot grigio that she liked very much. We each ended up having a 2nd glass.

We started with a pizza appetizer that was another "special" that night. It had a very thin, crispy crust, and was adorned with arugula and pancetta. We each got 3 pieces. It was really good. Luckily, we had our entrees coming, so we didn't come to blows over the last of the pizza.

I ordered the Insalata Inverno. This had arugula, butternut squash, more pancetta, goat cheese, and a honey/balsamic dressing. It was excellent. The KGB had the Rigatoni Piedmontese, which had chicken, peas, herbs, and garlic, topped with parmigiano. She loved it.

I still had some appetite after the salad, so I ordered a tiramisu. The KGB is allergic to eggs, so she let me devour the whole thing by myself. It was delicious. It had a couple of strawberries for decoration, so the KGB took those. Hey, I'm not totally against sharing!

Zia's has valet parking but no lot. KGB did the valet thing. Me, I found a free parking space on the street a couple blocks away. The closest blocks are all permit parking. If you don't mind parking two streets away - and if you eat tiramisu, you should probably be walking more anyway.

Service was everything it should be - friendly, professional, prompt and knowledgeable.

I loved this place, as did the KGB. We will definitely return.

Zia's makes me quite the happy girl. It's quite the spiffy place. It has a rustic, Tuscan feel, exceptional service, and killer Italian dishes.

My first visit to Zia's was during lunch time. Immediately upon walking in, I fell in love. I loved the old-world Italian feel. I also dig the huge bar area. Too bad no boozin' on lunch.

The worst part of my experience was wanting to order everything off of the menu. After much debate, and finishing half of the delicious complimentary bread, I finally settled on having the Rotolo. A dish of homemade tri-colored pasta with sausage, three cheeses, and a spicy tomato cream (Barese) sauce. I'm not sure what I had expected but when two pinwheels of pasta came out, I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese an sausage were stuffed between the layers of some of the best pasta I've ever eaten. The Barese sauce had the perfect kick, and was the creamiest of creamy.

The service was great. Fast and friendly. Just how I like it - especially on a lunch break. Parking can be somewhat of a nightmare since it's street parking. But, they do offer valet for a small fee. Prices are also a little steep, but for good Italian food, I certainly don't mind.

You can bet your ass I'll be back soon. I can already hear that Rotolo calling my name.

OMG this place was fast!!! I swear the food is in a carton, and just microwaved, but the taste test proved that wasn't the case.
    - service was amazing. maybe it was a slow day, but everything was bam, bam, bam!
    - ambiance was perfect. low lights, a gentle hum of people talking around me
    - food was excellent. my insalata with bruschetta was just enough, and perfect
    - Wine list was extensive, though they can use a little a few more Chianti's
    - Price was a little steep, but this isn't the type of place I'd come everyday

      Great place for a date!

I read many good reviews about Zia's and was hopeful that this place could be my new go to Italian place.  The decor was very nice and there was available parking albeit lovely City of Chicago paid parking.  The service was very good as was the bread, olive oil and cheese.

I ordered the minestrone soup which was good as well as the lasagna.  The lasagna was a good sized portion and while fresh tasting, it really lacked spice, seasoning... just something.  The prices were pretty average... not a great deal but I didn't feel like I was getting fleeced either.  I might try this place again and give it another chance, but I'm not rushing back.

Zia's was a favorite some years ago that I returned to recently after a long absence.  I regret I neglected this nice joint for so long.  In my defense, I did support their other room down the street - Cafe Touche - in the interim (along with one visit to Elliot's, across the way).  I had forgotten Zia's delivers well executed dishes in a nice atmosphere at reasonable cost.

My friend and I started with the avacado, tomato and blue cheese salad.  We figured with the waning days of summer good tomatoes were not to be had much longer.  Zia's did not disappoint.  The generous red and succulent slices from those beauties went perfectly with the cheese and avocado.  Delicious.  My friend is a carnivore and had the stuffed filet.  It was overflowing with cheese and served with mashed poatotes that disappeared from his plate before the meat did!  I had the fish on special and was thrilled with a nice filet smothered with capers, veggies and spinach.  Great flavors and very satisfying.

The bread that comes with the meal is excellent and works well with the marinated carrots and olives that appear at your table just as you are spreading your napkin on your lap.  Service was attentive without being too friendly (I don't like wait staff that feel free to join diners' conversations uninvited).  With a couple of cocktails, some wine by the glass and after dinner coffees, with tip the bill was barely north of $100.00 for two.  I call that real value for real food.  Zia's is a real standout in Edison Park and I will not allow myself to neglect it again.

Edison Park....this is Chicago?!?!? Really? That looks, feels, sounds and tastes like the suburbs...are you sure? It's faaaaaaaar!!! Why do people live here? Because they want to have a Chicago zip code but not the "drama" that comes with it? Hmmmmmmk...
I can see that; my street has been pretty "dramatic" lately: arson, gang activity, squirrel battles, etc.

    Still.
When my friend told me that her doctor was in the neighboring Jefferson Park I asked her: "What the hell is wrong with you?!?!?". I still offered to drive her there and since she had to fast for blood work we were starving to death when we finally got out of the medical office around 2:30pm (I didn't starve by solidarity. I am nice, but not that nice. I just had an early breakfast after my run).

Zia was tempting even from the outside oven we were gloriously baking in. Pasta for lunch by 100 degrees weather? Sure! Sign me in! But as soon as we pushed the door we were welcomed by a cool breeze and a dark interior, traditional Italian-style, rustic and soothing to my over-heated body. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio and went to work.
The lunch menu is quite decent, and offers appetizers, salads, pasta and meats. A few specials as well. I had my heart set on carbs but was slightly disappointed to discover that they didn't offer anything spaghetti/fettucine/paperdelle-like.
    Le sad.
I decided on penne with chicken, peas and a wine sauce - and a house salad.

Here comes the best part of the meal: when we sat down we were brought fresh bread, grated parmesan and home-made mild giardinera. Carrots, onions, peppers, celery and olives marinated in herbs, oil and vinegar and it's FREAKING awesome!!!!!
    We ate the whole thing.

My dish was decent, nothing overwhelming but everything was fresh and nicely done, including the salad which was dressed to perfection. I was thoroughly impressed. And slightly ashamed of my preconceptions.

    Lovely lunch all around!

Finally made it to Zia's... after many years of driving by... and the food was INCREDIBLE!  Now I bet you're wondering why I would call the food incredible and then only give it four stars, well, I'll get to that.

For an appetizer we had Polenta Grigalate which was very nice.  The polenta was firm and the flavors were fantastic, especially because the sausage was incredibly spicy, very much a surprise!

Hubby had the lamb shank w/orzo and LOVED it!  I'm not a lamb eater, but will taste... well, the sauce from the lamb had a very gamey flavor, which my husband loved but is the reason I don't eat lamb.  The orzo was perfect!

I had the Rotolo, my goodness that was good!  The only issue I had with it was that I would have liked more spinach, but otherwise... YUM!  The sauce was SO good, almost wanted to bathe in it!  Ham and a creamy tomato base... you seriously cannot go wrong there!

Reason for a missing star... dessert... husband got the creme brulee which he said was good, but would have been better without the strawberries and blueberries they piled on it.  I got a chocolate mousse cake... which was more of a ganache.  Mousse (to me) implies light, airy qualities... this was very heavy and not what I expected.  Also, it was sitting in a white sauce, that was thoroughly unneccessary, with the strawberries and blueberries my husband complained about and the whole plate was sprinkled with cocoa powder... just seemed a bit of overkill.  Even with my preconception of what a mousse is aside, all the other stuff on the plate kind of ruined it for me.

So we probably won't get desert the next time we're there... but the food is fantastic!

Well this was a nice surprise. Usually when I am near the suburbs I stop expecting to find good restaurants.  This place had free valet and a very nice atmosphere.

We had the grilled calamari and it was pretty damn good and flavorful. Everyone else loved what they ate and my lamb shank was pretty decent. Usually I can tell how good an Italian restaurant is by the pasta so I should have had that in order to be able to compare this place to some of my other Italian spots further in to the city.

Service was good and they provided bread, oil and parmesean cheese on the table to snack on before the food arrived.

I am pretty sure this is a Ma and Pa place so it isn't a chain.

The neighborhood was suprisingly nice and quaint as well. There were plenty of Italian delis, restaurants and bars on this strip. Its worth a trip just to experience this since again, its kind of out in the middle of nowhere.

It's relatively close to the Pickwick theater too so maybe you can hit this place up before a movie or something.

Nice restaurant with great service.  Good for a date, although, their table for two is too small for the average Midwestern male.   Not familiar with the current bartender, but, previously the drinks were always poured strong.  Italian food is NOT a favorite of mine, so I'd say you shouldn't take my advice on whether Zia's is good or bad.  The few times I'd been, my company, enjoyed the venue and fare.
Due to lactose, I couldn't get into loving their food more.  Myself I teeter between a 2.5 to 3 star review.  I wouldn't say it's good for kids only because of the ambiance, feel, outlay.. it's more for an older, appreciative crowd or date.

My family used to love to come to this place. With its dark, woody, warm interior, decent wine list, and generally friendly and professional service.....

They seem to be getting a little off course lately, though. The bar is smoky and whats with the Edison Park women with the bad highlights, fake nails and too-much perfume always hovering around the bar there? Geesh. It seems to be getting just a little bit too much of a 'bar' vibe rather than the classier vibe it use to have. Maybe I was there on bad nights or I am missing something? Its just not seeming as nice lately here.

Also the food has been getting pretty salty. It seems to be getting progressively worse the last few times I have been, and my mom's last entree was so salty as to nearly be inedible - so I hope that they are working on that.

Their staple foods like the bread and giardanara stuff is still amazing though! I mean, I could eat that stuff as a whole meal. Yum. Butternut squash raviolis, yum. House salad dressing, delicious. I'm going to stick to the butternut squash raviolis until they can tone down the salt a little on their other dishes.

Its generally a decent dining experience. A lot of options are too salty, but it has some redeeming factors. Its no longer on the top of the list of choices for a family meal, but its not off the list either.

This is one of the most overrated restaurants in the city.  I've come here at least 20 times with my parents and every time they manage to use too much salt, and I am a smoker who oveseasons EVERYTHING.  The worst offender is consistently any kind of veal.  Their bolognese [sic] is just as bad, but I have to admit I like their gnocchi.

But I digress.  The last two times we were there they made us wait half an hour in their over-smoked "bar" for our "reservation," only to bring us plastic bags and tins so we could box our own leftovers--before we were even finished!  It was weird the first time it happened, but when it happened the second time I was a bit peeved--I happened to have checked my watch when they brought the food and the doggie bags came out eleven minutes later.  And they have the gall to add a "gratuity" to the check automatically?

And the wine selection is at best adequate, though static.  Would it kill them to try something other than the standard Chiantis, Merlots, and Pino Grigio?

I do like their pasta...and the bread is good too...but that's about it.

And finally, don't count on atmosphere.  There are always people in jeans and gym shoes, and I've even seen a pair of zubaz at the bar, though that's sometimes par for the course in EP.   The air is stale and stagnant, so you get to smell like smoke or someone else's perfume.

Zia's is what it is--decent.  I couldn't disagree more with almost EVERY one of these reviews.  It's overpriced and overhyped, and could really use a freshening-up.

This has been on my list of places to try, and the Yelp raves proved spot on.  Wonderful, fresh and authentic Italian food in Edison Park. My friend and I agreed that food, ambiance and service were nearly perfect.

Fresh bread and mildly spicy carrot giardinaire tided me over until my friend arrived. I think I had the best thing on the  menu: butternut squash ravioli w/ marscapone cheese sauce and sprinkled with hazelnuts.  Delectable! (it was under the appetizers section: I got the full order).

I tried my friend's fettucine w/ wild mushrooms alfredo - which was actually my second choice.  It too, was excellent. I noticed that, unlike other versions of the dish I've had, this one was accented with carmelized onions, which gave it a sweet taste.

Our server was friendly and attentive.  At one point, the hostess came up to us and asked if we'd mind if our table was moved a few feet over to accommodate another large party.  It was no big deal, and she graciously said she'd comp us glasses of wine, which we said wasn't necessary.  Later, when my friend & I ordered the chocolate mousse cake for dessert, our waitress informed us it was gratis.  A+ for treating customers right!

Sophisticated decor (hardwood floors, subdued accent lighting, floor to ceiling velvet curtains partitioning off rooms) make it a good choice for a date, a casual dinner with friends, or even a family celebration (saw a few of those).  I told my husband I want to come here for our anniversary later this month.  A great place!
