10,000 Silver Dollars has been a mandatory stop every time we have crossed the Montana border for nearly the past 40 years. The souvenirs have been mostly the same for that time, but there are some new additions. My son used to always get a switchblade comb and they are still there. We have bought silver dollars to be placed on the bar walls and ceilings for most in our family. I think they are up to 63,000+ now. They also had an immaculate restroom when we last stopped in.
Review Source:Those from this area might find this less amusing but these easterners were charmed by the size, variety and diversity of offerings here. Â Like a smorgasbord of sometimes bawdy and gaudy western culture complete with expansive souvenir shop, casino and long, darkly lit bar. Â Totally worth a stop and open late - a relief to late night drivers.
Review Source:Super big rig friendly. Â This place looks like a truck stop overnight. Â My wife loves the huge gift shop. Â We have bought many Christmas and Birthday presents here. Â Great little cafe. Â Very dated but good food and great coffee. Â There is also a very cool full bar. Â As truck drivers we only get to look since we cannot drink on the road but a really neat place. Â I remember coming to this place as a little kid on our Montana vacations. Â Has not changed a bit. Â That is a very good thing.
Review Source:More of a local's kind of hang out vs. a destination, but it is a nice place to stop for a break and throw back a cold one while traveling across the high and wide state of  Montana on I-90.
If you are afraid that the liquor stores will be closed by the time you reach your night's destination, Â the 50K SBD also serves as a liquor store.
Fun place to eat, and super fast on the off season. Try the chicken fried steak! They bread them in house, and they are melt in your mouth delicious! The bar is great, with skill the silver dollars (well over 60,000 during my visit). Yes, the gift shop is super tourist trapping, but it well worth a visit.
Review Source:Considering there isn't much novelty factor between Spokane and Missoula, the 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar is a MUST stop and see if you need a break from driving the mountain highways.
The gift shop is rather amazing - more stuff you had no idea you wanted and much less expensive than you'd expect.
The silver dollar display is pretty impressive, especially when you consider the value of a silver dollar coin nowadays.
Based on what we read about the food, we did lunch in our RV ...
Basically just a massive tourist gift/souvenir shop with a restaurant and bar. In the bar you can find the secret behind the name. They actually have over 63,000 silver dollars covering the walls. $63k worth of coin right on the walls. It is actually somewhat impressive. The best thing about the bar is the very low priced drinks, $2.50 for bottled domestic beer and mixed drinks as low as $4.00.
The restaurant is another matter entirely. The food is WAY overpriced, WAY under portioned, and to make it worse, it's not that great.
So if you're looking for a souvenir from Montana or find yourself thirsty stop on in. If you're hungry, keep driving.
Yes, it is a tourist stop on the I90 but might as well check it out if you are passing through.
The bar and walls are covered in silver dollars. It is interesting to see. The bar isn't too large, but was worth stopping in and enjoying a local beer. The bar is surrounded by a giant gift shop where you can buy bar souvenirs, plus bull horns, funny t-shirts, artwork of Elvis mounted on wood and many Montana novelties.
It was about an hour and half from Missoula, but worth the trip out to check it out.
50,000 Silver Dollars take up a lot more space than you'd think. Each dollar is labeled with the name of the person who contributed it. Although the bar is impressive, I can't think of anything more to say about it.
The gift shop however.... was a lot of fun. It was good that we stopped because we were able to acquire reasonably priced gifts for all of our loved ones. The selection was fantastic!
Definately worth a stop, especially considering that there isn't anything else to stop for for miles and miles...
As a Washingtonian who frequently visits Montana, this place has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Â The food is not amazing, think Denny's with less selection, but it's the experience that you go for, not the food. Â
There's a bar, restaurant, and a giant gift shop. Â The bar is filled with crusty old dudes. Â The restaurant is filled with hungry patrons and spot-on their game servers. Â And the gift shop is filled with the most glorious crap in the world.
On my last visit, I purchased a cedar box with an epic wolf painting on the top, and a knife with a snarling wolf carved in the blade, all for under $12 dollars. Â There are also Kachina dolls, toy guns and bow and arrow sets that seem like they should be illegal by now, and pretty much one million different types of cedar boxes. Â It's a must see!
If you've ever drove from Missoula to Spokane you have, without exception, been bombarded by the signs for this place. Most of them still advertise the place as the $10,000 Silver Dollar Bar. In actuality they really have about 70,000 silver dollars hanging on the walls. All have been "donated" by travelers, including myself.
After traveling this corridor for almost 25 years I finally made my first stop last winter after snowboarding at Lookout Pass. My only regret is not having stopped a little sooner.
This place is completely loaded with crap. 30% Flea Market, 25% Grandma's Basement, 45% who knows what, but 100% manufactured in China. Once you navigate your way through this shrine to novelties, make your way to the bar. The hot buttered rum has a homemade recipe and dare I say that it is the best I've ever had?
Here's the highlight to our visit. The bar was empty except for us so we got plenty of quality time with the bartender. After the normal chit chat and several raunchy jokes from her, she proceeded to serenade us with a few Patsy Cline hits. What a voice! Then, with a blank face, she said, "Hey, wanna see me deep throat a Pepsi can?" Funny, I thought to myself, because I was just thinking the same thing! Because you can't answer this question with anything but "Hell Yeah!" the show continued. She pulled her top teeth out (WTF!!!!) and down went the can! What a trip, can't wait to go back!
Novelty factor is high for this place. They've got approximately a hundred signs advertising the place from Idaho all the way to Missoula. Come to the famous Silver Dollar Bar!!! I personally like the place because I won about 37 cents at their slot machines and you're damn right I cashed out while I was ahead and demanded 37 shiny new pennies. It's not often you take a winnings from casino type places, but I wanted to stick it to the man for once. Oh, they've got good burgers and the regular bar type foods that one would expect at a novelty store located in the middle of nowhere in Western Washington. Great fun time.
Review Source:We always stop at the 50,000 Silver Dollar Bar anytime we are driving through or back from Montana. Go in and get yourself a bunch of junk you didn't know you wanted! Last time, I came out with a belly button lint brush, a little box with a love bug inside, a cuss bank, a tumbler, a pint glass, some dice games, and a buffalo Montana hat! And if that isn't enough, you can add to the recently-over 50,000 silver dollars all over the bar walls. When you come back they will show you where they hung your silver dollar, with your name(s). WOW! The bartenders have always been nice, and the food is amazing- especially after a 72 hour road warrior type weekend. I actually love this place though, it is a must stop on the I-90 corridor.
