Ahi Chihuahua

I ordered burrito and a beer. It was good. I would enjoy this launch more but the water had that weird taste. :(

The three of us (me, my wife, daughter) stopped by on long trip east on the Interstate this summer, drawn by the glowing reviews on Yelp. The restaurant is really a local bodega with a few tables, run by a very friendly and welcoming Mexican-American couple. The usual Mexican fare, enchiladas, tacos, burritos and so on, but the food is very well prepared, home cooked and tasty, much better than what you would get in a commercial Mexican restaurant in the US. Large servings, very inexpensive, tasty food, a lot of calories but what the heck. We had a great lunch and a fine time talking with the owners, and a great time afterwards looking around the store. This place is a real *find* for travelers who are willing to drive a few miles from the interstate to the center of town.

What a find! This rather traditional Mexican bodega, restaurant is a hidden treasure.  Today I ventured into town to try Ahi Chihuahua.   The kitchen is run by a lovely señorita.  My odd request that they prepare my chicken enchilada dinner to be cooked at home, was well received and directions were followed to the letter.  I finished half of my dinner, which was perfectly savory with a touch of heat.   The rice and beans were yummy, just right. The dinner was huge, and inexpensive.  I am delighted to recommend this little gem.
