My partner and I ventured out to Alias on Saturday night during Dogwood Festival weekend with few expectations other than having a few cocktails and playing some pool. Â Given the 'holiday weekend' - we thought more folks would come out to enjoy the Club. Â This was not the case. Â We arrived at about Midnight to a semi-emtpy parking lot. Â Although my partner maintains an active membership at the Club, the cover was still $20 for us to walk through the door...quite high in our opinion. Â We were greeted by two heterosexual couples making out in the corner by the pool tables. Â We thought that we would 'drown a bit of our sorrows' - only to find weak cocktails and expensive beer. Â When we arrived - the music was pretty upbeat - however, after 3 games of pool an hour or so later - things had changes 180 degrees. Â The music was like rap mixed with pots and pans. Â One would think that - if people are dancing - the DJ is doing something right; if people are NOT dancing... Â

This is the place to be on Sat nights for individuals that support the LGBT community. I personally have not seen the drag shows that happen on Fri nights but have heard that they are good. The crowd doesn't start showing up until 1130P-12A but you have to get there early to get a parking spot.
