I have to come clean here, my Mom is a volunteer at the Senior Center where this Cafe is located, but she is in no way involved in the running of it.
That being said, I always try and review places based on location, what else is available nearby and the staff. Â This Cafe is located in the Aberdeen Senior Center, it supports the running of the center as well as the Thrift Store in the front (my Mom is involved in that and the food bank). Â So, eating at a place for a good cause is always a good thing in my book.
I arrived early one day to help my Mom with that days Food Bank, but before letting her work me like a dog I went to have breakfast at the Cafe for I am a sucker for biscuits and gravy and they have that dish. Â The building is old but it has charm, the seating is cafeteria style with long tables and the menu is basic but covers all the breakfast comfort food bases. Â You order at a counter but they bring the food out to you.
The food was really good, much better than I thought a budget senior center could produce. Â The biscuits are made from scratch and the gravy is a white sausage with minimal seasoning but nothing a twist of pepper doesn't handle. Â Two biscuits was enough to fill up me and keep me fueled while working all morning. Â Considering the location and the other food options in this small town if you happen to be driving through on Highway 39 shortcutting to Idaho Falls or Jackson Hole, Wyoming, this is a good option for a great breakfast and helping out a good cause.
