i've been there a few times before. Â this places is mostly for so-called "punks" or as i like to call them, "little kids who don't take showers and dress like s***t" oh and for "metal-heads". Â anyway, it is located in the heart and soul of chunty-town; you have just about everyone else (even nerds) shouting out things at the rockers....pretty funny. Â
if i owned that place, i'd eliminate the punk scene since it's all about fake posers now-a-days and throw in some good ol' rock n roll music, blues, jazz, and other types of rock music...and you must be over 21 years of age...just to help eliminate those young freaks.
wowzers.
worst security for a venue, well, depending on what you want, could be the best. Â extra secure because they frisk everyone and check your purses and everything for like ten minutes before entering. Â you can't bring water bottles or medicine or markers in. it's like crazy ghetto scary neighborhood for white girls like me.
but it's not the worst venue ever i guess. Â it used to be a theatre and they demolished a bunch of seats in the front for dancing, which is cool. Â lots of places to sit still. Â the sound is moderate, the art behind the stage is weird. Â Seems more appropriate for hip hop or rap artists to have shows here, and i'm sure they do, but i would appreciate more neutral artwork. Â meh.
They book good metal shows, and the venue itself is huge, but there's just a terrible vibe. Â i feel like fighting and sleeping and making out and smoking cigarettes all at the same time. basically just "gettin' my dirty on" in South Gate.
hmm, it's been a couple years since i've been here and i just tried to go to the website and it seems like it's down. Â don't know if this place is still open anymore? Â does anyone know???
