Alma's Only Bar (locals call it the AOB) has not been Alma's only bar for over 20 years, the other bar is the South Park Saloon which is an easy 2 minute walk up the street. The AOB is a small, divey bar with a friendly atmosphere and good food. The AOB recently (Nov 2012) had excellent live music on a Friday night and I had a great time. Â The crowd was a diverse mix of ages, most with that friendly mountain lover personality. Â The bar is small with half the floor space taken up by a coin pool table. The bar is the place to hang. Â There is a large outdoor area with a fire pit and more seating. I chatted with many people including the owner who was enjoying the benefits of owning his own bar (nuff said). Â The next day I stopped in for a beer and snack and the chicken tenders appetizer was excellent. Â Jul's the bartender said the food is made fresh so I will definitely be back again to try an entree.
Review Source:Alma is a very small tourist town, but I must say that Alma's Only Bar & Hotel is something to rave about in regard to the customer service. Â The owners are kind and hospitable. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. I know they would for you too. The bar atmosphere may not be your kind of environment. It wasn't for neither my boyfriend or I. We stayed in the hotel (which was more of a B&B) with a shared bathroom. I'm not a fan of shared bathrooms, but for the most part fairly clean and their restrooms were very clean. The rooms are small but cozy. Sunday buffet is served. Nothing else served from their menu during that time. There was nothing from the buffet I would eat, so...I had an egg white omelet, which wasn't on the menu or buffet, but because I am a picky eater, the cook went out of his way to make me one. It was delicious. They have a separate dining area away from the bar which is quite pleasant and makes you feel right at home. All in all, the experience was pleasant, and more so than any of the hotels within a 6 mile radius of Alma. Customer service was genuine. You rarely find such anymore.
