Thankfully I was only in there once and left town the next day. What a horrible experience. Now I know you don't go to Applebee's for steak but I had a great one a few months ago at a different location so I thought I would try again. Horrible. No flavor.
The service was unfriendly and the place was empty. The girl behind the bar was a real joy - not, barely a smile except for the guy she was flirting with. Thankfully I have no reason to ever go back.
Pekin is very limited so I really hate to give this such a bad review as so many others have really ditched this in their reviews. Â SO, being a local....here goes. Â Chip had steak which was done to his specs and was very good. Â I always get the perfect margarita which for some strange reason is served with an olive (why I ask) but whatever. Â It is always perfect. Â I ordered off their lite menu and ordered the chicken with rice, lime and cilantro. Â Apparently, the cooking staff got confused between cilantro and parsley. Â Small town....it's all good but wld have been much better with cilantro. Â I can brush that off. Â Wait staff, is and has always been good. Â Attentive and alter. Â So to say in bold ....do not eat here is a bit harsh Jean. Â But maybe Jean shld learn to either cook or be catered to. Â I wld go back but prefer the mexican joint over Applebee's. Â Cheers! Â Gwen
Review Source:DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!  One of the most disgusting restaurant experiences I've had in a very long time.  I'm dining alone because I'm a business traveler.  I sit down, order my beverage and meal.  My salad comes along with a swarm of fruit flies!  Not just a couple, two, three, I'm talking a swarm of them.  I'm shooing them away with my napkin and then the mediocore entree comes out and again, a swarm of these aggressive fruit flies! At this point,  my stomach turns and I'm ready to throw up in my mouth.  Waitress brings the manager over.  Manager explains the life cycle of these bugs using terms like "larve" and tells me they are going to be in the restaurant for a couple of weeks due to their life cycle.  She tells me their pest control company "wasn't doing their job". WTF?????  This had to be a terrible infestation.  I was so sick to my stomach.  She told me the meal was free.  Well, I didn't eat it anyway so she can just give it to the flies so they have a happy life cycle in the kitchen.  Almost wanted to call the board of health on them but there were a lot of older country folks blissfully eating their mediocore food and nonchalantly swatting these little dirty pests away from their plates as if  they were dining outside at a picnic.  The best part about this is this was on December 2.!  So I'm thinking those flies have been in this restaurant for a couple of minutes.  DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!
