Azalea Lanes is a nice place. You can tell by its style that the scorekeeping console, seats, and carpets have been around a while, but not by their condition. They are well-maintained and clean, which is not the case with a lot of bowling alleys, in my experience.
The bf LOVES to bowl*, so I agreed to join him. Â It was pretty reasonable ($2.50 for shoes, $2.75/game). Â The cafe has nice tables for eating, though we didn't eat. Beer is CHEAP--only $3.50 for a pint of Black Butte porter. Â There are discounts at other times, but even the regular prices are good. Â
In addition, there a couple of pool tables, air hockey, and some arcade games. They have rock n glow bowling some nights for a cover price, they seem to have active leagues, too.
As I said, the lanes are well-maintained and the staff are friendly and helpful. Â You might even say I enjoyed myself while bowling--and that's not an easy feat.
* For the record, I hate bowling. The game doesn't seem fun to me. Â Plus, having to wear used shoes and use a shared ball knowing most people don't wash their hands after using the restroom gives me the creeps. Â A bit ridiculous, perhaps, but that's who I am. Azalea Lanes almost made me enjoy my bowling outing.
