I stop into Baristas every time I visit New Martinsville. Â Great cozy house feel in the coffee shop with lots of vegetarian options in a town not entirely known to be vegetarian friendly (the Wal-Mart here is incredibly your best bet to find that kind of thing, although I'd endorse the local grocery store, Witchey's, over it any day). Â Friendly service, a great atmosphere, great wraps and soups, amazing pizza, and an awesome rocky basement bar downstairs -- all in the weird heart of a half-revived Main Street riverfront part of town that seems long-forgotten in favor the the more modern shopping plazas and fast-food joints uptown from here -- make this place a real find. Â They have soy milk. Â There's a scruffy cat that will chill with you on the porch. Â And there are apparently both folk-singin-type entertainment nights that host both locals and touring artists AND sort of regular bike-club meetings and races/excursions through the hills. Â I'd love if more businesses in NM operated the way Baristas does. Â
One more thing -- there's a pretty great and informative article on Baristas in the New York Times here:  <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fquery.nytimes.com%2Fgst%2Ffullpage.html%3Fres%3D9E06EED8113BF934A25753C1A9629C8B63&s=acb215e5f2073c0f1c9d04b0bb7c8fbae6ec346c6c950ffa04414e80105f8c2e" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://query.nytimes.com…</a>
