Really the only place in Colfax to get a great beer on tap. Â Lots of good choices that changes frequently. Â When I come back in town to visit my family, a stop here is always on the schedule. Â Get the chicken sandwich on the jalapeno bread. Â It is seriously one of the best sandwiches I've ever had.
Review Source:Colfax is a bit libations challenged. Â Basement Wines seems to be serious about helping rectify that difficulty. Â Being small, they don't have a huge selection of anything except, maybe wine, but they try.
I'm a beer guy, not a wine guy. Â Luckily, for me, they have some nice stuff on tap as well as in bottles. Â Since the owner is good buddy's with the local cidery (Fox Barrel), you can find great local cider on tap!!!
The food is a cut above normal pub-grub and you can enjoy eats and drinks while taking advantage of their free Wi-Fi.
Cozy, local, informal, packed with real people. Â You can't go wrong.
This is my #1 regular hangout. Seriously if I was to tally up the amount of money I spend in here, I'd probably faint.
In any case a typical visit to Basement entails some combination of the following, usually all of them:
 - Good beer on tap and bottle
 - Great wine by the glass and the bottle
 - Good music (via satellite or sometimes live)
 - Fantastic sandwiches, pizza, chili, and other food
 - Intelligent conversation
 - A game of darts (real) or cribbage
Owners Lee and Laurie along with bartenders Mark, Kay, Carrie and Jovanna all help to create an atmosphere that attracts a loyal crowd of regulars as well as occasional visitors from here and there. Next time you're in Colfax looking for food, drink, or just a respite from the freeway, come on in!
