We had a fantastic meal at the Bay Café.  Four of us went and all agreed that the homemade sweet potato fries were excellent.  My fish and chips were great.  The homemade coleslaw had a dash of pineapple and the cod was cooked perfectly.  Whoever was doing the cooking when we went, knew what they were doing!
Review Source:I think we ended up trying just about every place in Bayview during our stay, just because there aren't that many choices! So if nothing else, I can at least say the Bay Cafe was in the top 3 restaurants we went to in town.
The Bay Cafe has your typical American diner-style food: sandwiches, burgers, pizzas, broasted chicken, and pie. It's a mom-and-pop place and I think our server was the owner's daughter, so they're very friendly and helpful.
The 16-bean soup was thick and chunky, almost like a chili, and good. I had a turkey/cranberry sandwich that was just OK, kind of mushy and unmemorable. It came with sweet potato fries that were undercooked and floppy; we sent them back and got a more thoroughly cooked order, but they were still regular ol' freezer fries. The broasted chicken was definitely the standout meal - it was about $13 and came with a huge portion of crisp-roasted, juicy chicken. The rest of us had MAJOR food envy.
I heard that they do a really good breakfast, so maybe that's their strength rather than dinner. For what we got, quality-wise, it seemed a bit overpriced, but beggars can't be choosers.
