The "Bear Trap" is a venerable institution in Sauk Centre, formerly known as the Eagle Inn, and nobody seems to remember what it was called before that, but it's been around for at least fifty years. Â A comfy little tavern just outside of town, it has a U-shaped bar, several tables, free popcorn and a couple video machines -- the basics. Â But it's a FRIENDLY place, with great burgers and pizza, sassy and attentive bartenders, and a good selection of potables. Â I was there with a friend on a recent Sunday night, and Wendy, the evening's bartender/cook/waitress, filled all three jobs admirably and served up what is quite likely the best burger and fries I've ever had. Â I like my French fries crunchy and she got 'em exactly right. Â The prices are good, the ambience is pleasant, and there are few better places to stop for a beer or two or a good bar-food dinner. Â You can tell it's good by the number of pickups parked out front! Â (Open Tuesday-Sunday; dark Mondays)
