If you want a Bud or Coors, go down the street. Â Bears Hideaway serves real beer, many types of wine and port, as well as cigars. Â They have a great atmosphere to relax after a long day with the added benefit of its proprietors, Bear and Tedi. Â (Bear is very possibly the most gentle, calming dog on the planet)
Review Source:Its obvious that the rating so far are friends of the owners since they all live in the area. Â And when we sat in the back to drink our beer averyone was friends of the owner Lori. Â My wife and I walked in thinking it was a wine tasting bar and said we would like to wine taste. Â The owner Lori became immediatley rude, condesending and began to lecture us that she does not provide wine tasting only sells wine by the bottle or glass. Â I said oh Okay do you let us have a small taste so we can choose which one we want like any other normal place that sells by the glass, of course not and her lecture was repeated, terrible customer service skill, this place will not last giving service like that. Â So we bought a beer which was like pulling teeth if you asked her any questions about the beer. Â So I just used my knowledge to choose what I wanted to drink.
Sat in the back and drank it with all the smokers, dont go if you dont like smokers in your face, butt it is a wine and cigar bar right!!
the only good thing about it was petting the dogs.
We love this place. Lori has been expanding the outdoor space and adding wonderful little touches that give Bear's its charming ambiance. In addition, she's added beer on tap (quality brews) and is working with other local businesses to offer dinner to her guests. I am so happy that her business is progressing. San Juan would not be the same without this little gem. Lori is knowledgeable about her products and extremely accommodating--she even brought us lap blankets when the wind picked up outside one evening. We have been to one of the musical events and the feel of it was both casual and intimate, and the artist was pretty good too.
By and large however our favorite part about Bear's is Bear (and Teddy). Bear and his little sister Teddy are the adorable Australian Shepherds that occasionally stop by your table for a pet. I would still come to Bear's if they were not at the establishment, but I go out of my way to come here because of them.
An excellent little wine/beer bar. Â This is a great little place to enjoy and glass of wine or beer in San Juan Bautista. Â A comfortable atmosphere inside and outside. Â The other "drink" establishments in town are less than inviting, dirty, and don't have the caliber of people you feel comfotable around.
Review Source:A great stop in San Juan Bautista! The owners and extremely knowledgeable about each wine, beer, and cigar they sell. A great alternate to the dive's Daisy's and Mom N Â Pops down town. They have a great little wine bar and patio where you can enjoy the weather over a glass of wine or stout with a great cigar. Keep posted on their websites and/or facebook for upcoming events. They have great closed wine tastings, the occasional singer song writer, along with beer tastings. The events are always very classy yet relaxed, with a great atmosphere. And don't forget to give the mascot Bear a pet when you come in the door!
