Beefmaster Steakhouse

I had the Mexican food lunch buffet. Can't say much for it. The dining room was pretty much empty when I ate at 11:45 a.m. Maybe a bigger crowd shows up at noon. The buffet was pretty small and the food was mostly tasteless. Enchiladas, etc. Similar quality might be found in a school cafeteria. The staff was remarkably disinterested and stood around talking about personal matters within my earshot. I guess there aren't many tips left at these lunch buffets which might account for their attitude. Some of the food was cold. Won't be back.

Found Beefmasters on our way from San Antonio to Albuquerque.  Not a fancy place, just good down home cooked food.  Hubby had a patty melt and it was probably one of the freshest chopped steak burgers he has ever had, even their fries were cut from fresh potatoes, not frozen!.  I had the buffet and wow, everything was homemade.  Wednesday was Mexican and included a good salad bar,enchiladas (red & whte), tacos, beans and rice nd some awesome brisket with onions and peppers. When we had finished we were brought fresh sopapillas, dusted with sugar & cinnamon and a packet of honey on the side.  This made for an awesome lunch stop on our trip!

Today we ate from the buffet. I was surprised when it appeared that they had Filet mignon  on the buffet, turned out it was ground beef wrapped in bacon. No gravy for the mashed potatoes, the rest of the buffet was fine. Not your big fancy steakhouse, but a homey down home restaurant with reasonable prices.
