Newly remodeled and under new management,,, they even beefed up the menu... now if you loved the food then you are totally going to love the new items... they have more baked spuds and even a few more bugers , still the same big boys but now with more food options.

Their food is damn good here... too bad there seems to always be a service issue.  But don't let it dissuade you from trying them out.

I ordered take-out again... twice in a week.  This time I ordered the buffalo boiled shrimp and a shrimp salad.  I ordered these items off the to-go menu I received a couple of days earlier, but the lady taking my phone call had no clue they offered buffalo shrimp.  Frustrating.

As usual, both items were great.  The shrimp here is plump, fresh, and always yummy.  The shrimp salad is basically a taco salad with gulf shrimp on top.  It was very good... but I'm sure even being a salad, it's not that healthy for you.  I don't care... I'm on vacation.

We love Mondays because it's Big Boys boneless chicken wings for $2.99 day!  We get 2 orders each and eat them the next day too!  SOOOO good!    Favs are garlic Parmesan and pomegrante chipotle.  Love their fries... But their loaded baked potato is the bomb!  Cooked in the smoker with the meat, it is huge and has just the right amount of smoke flavor.  Their black and blue burger used to be better with more blue cheese.. But still a good gooey mess.  Good dive bar with pool tables.  Lots of smoke in bar... Restaurant area closed off from the smoke.

While this looked like a cool, chill spot to hang out, their wing selection was really limited.  We ended up going to Wing Stop instead so we could get a variety of flavors.

I went here during Spring-break, and I felt underwhelmed. I ordered a rack of smoked ribs, and it arrived cold at my table. The sides were corn on the cob,and sweet potato fries. The small piece of corn on the cob, was not fresh it tasted like it came from the frozen aisle in Costco. The fries on the other hands tasted fresh and delish. The service was good, not great, just good. I guess since and from the Northeast I had high expectation on Southern BBQ. This place is nothing but a burger joint. Its a hit or miss if you ask me. Sorry Big Boys...:(

Upon the recommendation from the hotel, I stopped on for a burger. When I finally got a spot at the bar (table service was none existent, despite trying to get the waiter's attention) I decided on trying the "boneless" wings.

Now, I admit I'm not a wing connoisseur,  but doesn't boneless mean sans as in no bones? My wings arrived with bones.... :/

I also went with the hot  wing sauce. Lately, "hot" has meant just a  notch above spicy and tolerable with a good dollop of ranch sauce.

Big Boy's definitely earns the right to use the chile icon next to this listing! If the hot sauce makes you cry, then the "Hot Mama", "Habanero" and "Kung Fu" have got to be ass-kicking!

Demoted one star for lack of service. (had to steal napkins anf ask for more later, and a but show on getting back to me to were if I needed another beer.  Also, with two TVs next to each other, the unwillingness to change one of them to watch a game instead of just sports news is shady for a sports bar.)

OMG we ate a lotta wings here...habanero & chipotle pom wings are fantastic..the boneless arent even wings they are fat pieces of breast tenders..they have a app sampler for 14.99 four choices.. we had wings, fried zuccini, potatoe skins that include bacon, and brisket fries..umm just thinking about those fries makes my mouth water.. the brisket was very tender and everything was so good.. we ate here 3 times and also tried fried mushrooms and cheese sticks which were ok..they also have happy hour from 2-6 pm with 2.50 margarita on the rocks..so good. Also had a live singer performing one night with a very relaxing voice who was taking requests. Overall the best place to eat on the island. Not very pricy at all and a great place to watch a game eat wings and get really full!

As far as SPI bars go, this is a typical sports bar with some tunes, TVs, foosball and pool.  And as far as SPI goes its amazing in its normalcy. Its a decent bar, with cheapish drinks, a heavy pour and what looks like pretty damn good bar food.

You can write on the tables, dance in the backroom, enjoy whiskey specials and eat wings all at the same time. Theyve done a great job of converting this old convenience store into a place for "regulars."

For a Sports Bar, hands down, one of the best. Let me tell you why:  clean restrooms, EXCELLENT food and great service. Go!  You'll see why it got 5 stars from me!!!

Can I give it ZERO stars?

    This place is a joke.

My boyfriend and I went there to watch a UFC fight over Memorial Day weekend.  We had to pay $20 just to get in the door to watch the fight - that alone is ridiculous!  Once we were in, we were seated at a table with some random couple that walked in before us.  Awkward?  Yes.  In addition, halfway through the fight, the sound cuts off and never comes back on.  The manager informed us that, "sometimes that happens.".  So, the fight we paid $20 for, we get to watch, but not hear any of the commentary....And the restaurant knew they had a problem prior to hosting that event...  Fair?  No.

The food was not very good.  The burger was overcooked, the fries were limp & plain and the fried mushroom appetizer was squishy.
Our server was sooooo slow, and we had to ask her for the same items several times, which never came.   The glasses we were drinking from tasted like dirty dishwater.  We went to the bar to get different glasses, but they tasted the same.

When we received the bill, we were charged for items we never received.  The manager told us that he couldn't do anything about it, so the owner comes over to talk to us.  We nicely explained our frustrations and were told, "too bad.".  I thought for sure I heard him wrong....At that point, we were told that our bill would not be adjusted because we waited until the end of the night to talk to him and we couldn't prove that we didn't actually get the items.  We told him that we didn't want to interrupt the fight to complain, additionally, it would have been awkward to do so in front of the random couple they seated us with.  I told him I didn't want to pay a bill that was wrong. He said he would call the police if we didn't.  Get this - he told us, while pounding on his chest, "TONIGHT IS ALL ABOUT ME.  IT'S MY NIGHT.".  Are you kidding me???  This is from the owner???    That guy is a joke!!  I guess since he is the owner, he is very excited to do and say whatever he wants to customers.

With crappy food and even worse service, this restaurant will definitely FAIL.

So I have never been a helper but after finally getting into actually writing the reviews, and not just reading them.. I have to time travel to eating at big boys and give them the credit they deserve.

After a long day at the brag and plenty of beer we needed real sustenance. Bit boys stepped up to the plate.

Let's first mention what your other options are. McDonald's and overpriced seafood that has the same effects as Montezuma's revenge. No matter what the competition, the food here was delicious.

I ordered the hot boneless and the sauce was actually hot.. And flavorful. Not like a 'hot' at hooters.. It's got the kind if kick that  brings a single tear to your eye, and when you're done, dive right back in for more. I could have done without the smoking in the bar, but I quickly forgot about it when I lit up my own cig outside. The bartender, Katie, was also out waitress. Order at the bar, sit, she bring it to you and promptly refills your glass. Also worth mentioning, the homemade pickles. They sit atop the bar and web I asked for a glass of the juice, she scooped it out ad even brought me a cup Togo when we were leaving. (just a tip: drinking cold pickle juice re hydrates you more so than Gatorade and cleanses your liver!) but the more important tip... Eat. Wings. At. Big. Boys.

First of all to say something about there fries. Thye don't hand cut there fries anymore they have gotten very lazy. They messed up 2 of my orders in the past month. I ordered a brisket potato and they bring me chicken. Iborder chili fries and they changed there chili and changed there fries. They suck now. Royally. And they don't care that they mess up your order. Another time I got a to go order and then they didn't put any briscket when I ordered it on my potato. There service sucks there food would be ok if they forbid right every once in a while. Just anhorrible place if your hungry. If u wan them to kelp remaking your food this is the place to go. But if you like good food and service I suggest another bar. Whataburger gets a better score than them any day.

After conducting a search on Google for a wings place in South Padre Island, this was the only place that returned any hits. As far as I'm concerned, it's the ONLY place that needs to be recognized.

A long day of drinking only needs two things: sun and wings....or at least some buffalo sauce. After laying on the beach for a couple of hours, we had to get out fix, and Big Boy's Wings did everything and more.

Walking into the place, it looks like your everyday sports bar, but the menu is fantastic. I ordered the 'Hot' boneless buffalo wings and it definitely can be considered hot. It wasn't like your everyday, "I have good flavor but I'm pretty wimpy" hot. It was hot, plus the flavor. You could see the actual pepper seeds.

My friend ordered the 'Chipotle' wings. I had one bite and wanted more. The flavor was amazing. Some how they were able to combine chipotle and pomegranate into one tasty-ass sauce. I highly recommend it.

My other friend ordered the cheeseburger. Sublime should rename their first album '40 lbs of freedom' after this burger because it was HUGE. It was also huge on flavor.

Every one of our meals was completed with home cut fries. Who does that any more? It was absolutely delicious. I'm almost willing to say that this place was better than some of our hometown wings selections (i.e. Plucker's- yeah, I went there Austinites).

On top of the awesome food, the service was phenomenal. Our girl Katie was very attentive and accommodating. She even went as far to fulfill my friend's request for a large cup of pickle juice. Yes, pickle juice (I hear it cures the hangovers).

You have to eat here if you ever come down to South Padre. It's not some super, touristy locale with big shark heads everywhere. It's just low-key enough to walk in right off the beach.
