WE HAD JUST LEFT CHINA PEAK AND HAD THE MOST UNFORTUNATE RUN-IN WITH "THE FALLS" CAFE. NIGHTMARE. SKIP THIS PLACE AND COME HERE! SERIOUSLY.
We headed down the mountain and there weren't any places to eat and I want breakfast.
We ended up heading down to Auberry and gladly discovered BIG D's. Although the wait was longer than we had hoped, the staff was INCREDIBLY nice, and our waitress (tall blonde with a braided ponytail), was SPECTACULAR. She was sweet, pleasant, and very attentive. Not only her, but the other waitresses came over and asked us if we needed anything. They we all great!! BIG D even came out to hand deliver food to some older patrons and chat with them.
We ordered the Egg and Ham Scramble. The BF and I both agreed that the hash browns were among the best we've ever eaten.. and we go to A LOT of places.
The only thing that prevented a 5-star rating was that there were a lot of flies in the window where we were sitting.

stopped in for lunch, wife had popcorn chicken when it came it looked over done.... it was, the pieces were so over cooked they hard to chew we left almost all on the plate, fries were between luke warm and cool. I think they must have fried the fries first then let them sit while they burned the chicken. the ice tea was very good. Â So IF we ever go back all I am having is ice tea.
Review Source:WAIT A MINUTE. Â We eat there once or twice a month.. I have never had a bad meal there. Food is hot, well cooked, and more like home cooking than the standard fare. If something were as bad as other reviewer's indicate it was their fault. What I mean is that the owner lives there making sure the food is up to his quality, which is excellent. He has decades of experience in the food industry and make a point to talk to the customers. He is available and Okay is not good enough for him.
I am not associated with this restaurant in any way and really don't like someone giving a bad rating that I believe isn't correct.. My family and I have eaten there too many time without a bad meal for me to believe a one star rating . Â I still give it four stars. But now I will up it to five because of it's history over the past years of consistently good food, good menu, attention to every diner by the owner, his commitment to a good experience, and good service at a fair price.
Eww... everything about this place is disgusting! I had the standard breakfast - eggs, potatoes, bacon, biscuit. The eggs were tough and over cooked. The potatoes were raw and had a disgusting aftertaste. The bacon was only half cooked - one half of the strip was barely warm and raw-ish, one half was cooked, but even that side was chewy and weak. The biscuit was over cooked also and could not stand to be buttered (it would crumble apart) and was extremely dry. Went here with my friend, and his pastrami was like rubber. Service was slow, and kindness was minimal. Will

Went here yesterday and was very pleased! The service was excellent the owner was very nice! Ordered the cali cheese burger and it was very good. The only bad thing was that the avacodo was hard, I don't think it was quite ripe. None the less it was good and the fries were good as well.
