Our favorite place to eat especially on a Sunday afternoon.  Food is good, music is wonderful.  Ronnie Mason does an excellent job of entertaining everyone with his music.  This place is authentic Texas and we love it.  The wait staff is very friendly and helpful and attentive to their guests.  We will continue to go there on Sunday afternoons.  You've got to try their beer battered twice baked potatoes.  They are out of this world.

Friday night, D'Hanis, Bill & Rosa's, hard to beat. Most of us came from Bandera, and a couple from Galveston. GREAT all-u- can- eat shrimp and catfish plates, humongous 16oz chicken fried steak, and cold beer. Can't miss it, at the blinking light on the other side of the tracks (4 trains passed during dinner). Rural Texas at its best, with Ronnie Mason playing the guitar!

Our waitress was very friendly, but her apron looked as if she has spent the afternoon butchering piglets. This put me off my dinner a bit, to tell you the truth, and then she brought my dinner and that put me off eating altogether.

It was absolutely the worst food I have ever had in America, at any time, under any circumstances, and that includes hospital food, gas station food, and airport coffee shop food. It even includes Greyhound Bus Station food and S.S. Kresge's luncheon counter food. It was even worse than the cheeseburgers that they put in the food-dispensing machines at Allen B. Shepard JR. High School, and those tasted like somebody had been sick on them.

My burger tasted as if someone had seasoned it with lighter fluid. I honestly believe it would have burst into flames if I held a match to it. The french fries had the appearance and appeal of albino slugs. I took one bite, and pushed the whole mess away.

kitchy and delicious.  I am not from around these parts, so I am not sure if they are trying to play up the western thing or if it is legit, but either way it works for them.  Keep it up! I mean four cowboys playing some western tunes for a Sunday night dinner of chicken fried steak with all the fixings.  Can it be any better?! I never even had chicken fried steak before and am now wondering why. Probably because I will never get it any where else that makes it this good.  The chicken cordon bleu was also a hit at our table.  Be warned, only get the half order of steak! Another gem of a place on my travels through the south.

Folksy & homespun in atmosphere, locals drift in and treat themselves to what a pal billed as "one of the best chicken fried steaks in Texas". Hmmm. Who wouldn't be intrigued? It panned out. (Rim shot!) It's crust was a buttermilk, batter dipped delight. And unlike so many purveyors of the Southern staple, Bill & Rosa's offers a half dozen or so vegetables for sides that are also prepared with care. I had squash that was heartily seasoned with Rosemary and delicious. But the crust. Oh the crust on this chicken fried steak...My wife and I both had their 1/2 sized $7.95 Special of The Day because a whole one (I was told) would nearly hang off the plate.  My pal further stated Burgers, Sandwiches & steaks all passed muster at Bill & Rosa's. When can I find myself in D'Hanis Texas again?

After having given up on Texas cuisine I am really happy to say I love this place. I've been coming to the area quite often this year from the west coast to remodel the in-laws house. Luby's, chili's and amazingly bad Mexican food seemed to be the standard options. We stumbled into Bill & Rosa's the Friday after Thanksgiving. I had the best and most honest food I've had in Texas to date - about 10 years. A simple mesquite grilled rib eye steak, mashed potatoes and great triple chocolate confusion cake. A good energy in the place - people happy to work there. It shows in their service and their food. There's a shining light in Texas, and it's called Bill & Rosa's.

I agree with the other reviewer, the chicken fried steak is really good. Although, I don't know if I'd say it's the best in Texas.
When we stopped in for lunch on Friday (New Year's Day) the CFS was the daily special; so we tried it. It came with an assortment of sides that we could choose from. I got the baked potato. One of the others at the table got the au gratin. I'm told it was good (it looked good). Overall, the food was very good. Add to that the rustic atmosphere and we can't wait to come back and try this place again the next time we're driving through town.
