Does the wrecking ball await Bishop's Restaurant and Bar? Â
First it claimed the condos, then the motel, then (gasp!!) the giant old boathouse (A lot of history went with that sadly).
I really have no idea what the current ownership group has in mind unless it is to create a giant parking lot for the boat ramp.
But my mind wanders back to the day when Bishop's was the one dive bar on the lake that was accessible by boat. Â A place that was frequented by boaters that kept their craft held together with duct tape and prayer. Â A place not filled with frat boys like some of it's brethren on Luby Bay. Â A place that would serve you a pitcher of MacNaughton's and Coke without even blinking. Â A place that I found a summer girlfriend working behind the bar (Until I caught her spreading more than good cheer later that same summer). Â A place where the cook sold more pot than the restaurant served food.
So I raise my glass to what was... Â and I offer up a prayer to what may be.
