If you are looking for a nice stress free dining experience DO NOT eat at Blanca Whites. The food was very bad and expensive. There was no choice but to order these disgusting little tacos. Six of them to be exact, and get charged 15 dollars for THAT. Please, if you want a good margarita go SOMEWHERE ELSE! And if you order top shelf tequila, I promise you will get charged for it but will be given Cuervo. If you ask for a fork, you won't get one. Instead you will instead get a sarcastic remark about how tacos are not eaten with a fork. Maybe I wanted a fork so I could stick myself in the throat with it to put myself out of my misery. I HATE Blanca Whites! It's so STUPID there.
Review Source:Negative! Rude! Terrible Food and even worse service!! Total let down! From the street we were excited. Â Didn't finish my food or my $10 gross Rita! Ended up at Wanna Wanna watching an awesome live band and eating fresh delicious boiled and fried shrimp. Â The 50's music at Blanca's made me want to slit my wrist! I can't believe the waitstaff of around 20 wouldn't get me water - to choke down the gross creepy food on my plate. Twilight Zone! DO NOT ENTER! They charged me for Don Julio in my Rita - couldn't taste it- asked for a shot- didn't carry patron - don Julio - or any silver tequila at that- tho charged me for Don Julio in the Rita!!! They said that was last shot!!!!! LIARS! Do NOT ENTER! DO NOT!!!!!!
Review Source:I can only speak for the drinks and service, since we went on Saturday evening after eating elsewhere. I heard that this place is a branch of another restaurant in Mexico and thought they must have great margaritas, right? WRONG. I got the "world famous" Blanca Whites margarita first, and it was one of the worst I've ever had. It tasted really watered down, and I'm not one to complain about booze. It was like somebody filled a glass with the nasty local tap water, waved an open bottle of Cuervo around in the general vicinity, and squeezed a small lime wedge into it. You couldn't taste the liquor or lime or any other flavor besides bad tap water. At least it was cheap? I thought maybe the other cocktails would be better and my friends were still working on their beers, so I tried the Pulp Fiction, which is supposed to be tequila, Tito's vodka, lime juice, and pineapple juice. Again, couldn't taste any alcohol whatsoever, and the pineapple juice seems to have come from one of those huge cans where you never finish the juice in time and it starts to taste like the metal can. Everyone at the table tried the drink and grimaced after taking a sip. It was just nasty, even worse than the margarita. I'd prefer tasting nothing than tasting rusty tin can, I guess.
If the terrible drinks weren't enough, we also had service issues. The waitress knocked my friend's beer over while serving it, and spilled about 2/3 of it. She was going to get another one, and then a different waiter said she would have to pay for it. We said we didn't want her to have to pay for it, and that it was illegal for a restaurant to make servers pay for spilled/dropped items. Accidents happen, right? We thought it would be taken care of, but the replacement never came and the spilled beer was still on the check. We complained and asked about getting half the price of the beer taken off the check, since half of it went on the floor before we had even touched it, and he brought the same bill back and told us to just pay a lesser amount. I'm sure the poor waitress had to pay for it anyway. I am going to report this issue to the TABC so the staff doesn't continue to get ripped off. The staff also came by about every 90 seconds to ask us if we were ready to order after we had said we were just having drinks. We left with a bad taste from the terrible drinks and exploitation of the wait staff. We won't be back. Go to Laguna Bob and get a decent margarita overlooking the bay there instead. You won't find any such thing at Blanca Whites.
Excellent service, cold beer, great chips and bean dip. You already know the view is amazing, so that makes everything better.
In fact, we had such friendly and attentive service that we couldn't bring ourselves to be honest when they asked for feedback about our meal. The only dish worth having again was the burger. The meat was so perfectly done, so juicy, that I thought about food-jacking it from my three year old.
My fajitas were adequately cooked and seasoned but came out cold. Seems they are still working out the kinks in the kitchen. Same near miss on my brother's overcooked chicken and dad's unseasoned fish.
Overall, we had an excellent family meal here. Be prepared for the food to be underwhelming while they find their footing and enjoy a beer in the meantime.
Great view of the bay. Â Great sunset views. Â Service was very slow, but I understand that the restaurant just opened. Â The Shrimp Mayita was wonderful. Â Flavorful , semi spicy, almost a BBQ type sauce. Â The other 3 meals were average for the island. Â I am glad to see a new restaurant open. Â They should do well with this beautiful bay setting if they can improve the service and wait times.
Review Source:First time on the island, came right after Labor Day weekend. Â Looking for a place with a beautiful view of the sunset and a great dinner. Â Found both here! Â You've got to try the Shrimp Mayita. Â It has a wonderful sauce. Â If the rest of our visit is as good as our dinner, we'll have a great time here.
Review Source:What a great spot! When I learned that Steamers closed, I was a tad apprehensive but we pulled up in the boat and it all looked... so fresh. So clean. So enticing. And they've got a wall of loteria.
So we had a couple beers and chips n salsa and a great server named Cesar and it's totally our new favorite bayside bar. They have a limited menu now but plan to have something bigger soon. This is the same Blanca Whites from Mexico so I've got high hopes for their frozen drinks. No one does a marg/pina c/daquiri like those folks in Mexico.
