Southern New Mexico's Only Real Honky Tonk.
The Blue Moon Bar has wooden floors, a creaky, cracked wooden bar that has been branded several times, a proper jukebox (a smattering of classic rock, and the rest is pretty much good country and rancheras) and atmosphere for days.
The selection of hard liquors is a little wanting, but hey, you're always going to meet a character, the service is great, and you can have a good time just drinking water. The few times I've had whiskey here, it was a good honest pour and the beer is priced about right. The one time I ate there, I had a Green Chile Cheeseburger that was seriously amazing. Big, beefy patty, fresh cut fries and hot chile. Just greasy enough to be delicious and served hot off the grill.
This is a George Strait on the jukebox and cold beer kinda joint. Lots of bikers, real cowboys, and rural folk here. One time when I was there a couple of emo kids came in, nervously slammed one beer, and left. I've never had any trouble here, but I'm rural folk in good standing. It's not yuppied out or hipstered out yet. (hopefully they stay confined to El Patio...)
The Blue Moon Bar is  probably the only and best venue for real country music in the area, actual honky-tonk music you can dance to. Plus, they'll have blues bands, belly dancers, bike runs, all kinds of stuff to do there. There's a big nice patio overlooking the Rio Grande, also. If you're into funky, rural beer joints, this is a must!
