My husband and I were on a "quick weekend" drive through the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas (definitely want more time next time to relax and enjoy the beautiful countryside here)...and we happened across this gem of a town...
In the middle of the courthouse square is the Courthouse!!! On all four sides there are shops and stores and a few restaurants....and on the corner..we found this quaint little diner (deli and bakery)
We arrived on a sunday afternoon and the crowd was in the square (motorcycles) and the weather was so nice..sunny and just a bit cool with a touch of heat...I love to feel the warmth on me..so the day was perfect.
We walked into the Deli Bakery on the Square and were greeted immediately by the lady at the register with a smile and hello..We noticed that the store was scattered with a few tables (mix matched and quaint) with some nice decor of antiques and crafts and a mixture of homemade foods to buy and take with you. In the Antique display there were some pastries and cakes and a few pies..the chalkboard advertised their specials of home made deli style sandwiches and homemade pizza..I asked her how the pizza was and she told me the crust, sauce everything homemade and pizza oven to cook it off in ...so we had to try the pizza.
We ordered a pepperoni, with Jalapeno and extra cheese and onions. They didn't serve beer so we opted to get a cold bottle of root beer and the pizza took about 20 minutes to cook and it was delicious. I would definitely order again and again if I lived in the area. The price point was great...it was a medium pizza and the two drinks came to less than $15 with taxes..so definitely budget friendly..
Good food, Great Atmosphere and Great Pricing...a win win situation for any traveler/ foodie on the go with a budget and camera!!!
A gem of a spot on the square in Jasper, this place has opened since my last trip to Buffalo River country. Â Offering an array of pastries, plus some heavier fare for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner, this place doubles as an antique/curiosity store, as well as a supplier of local and organic products like ribbon cane syrup, whole grains, honey, and eggs. Â I enjoyed an absolutely MASSIVE breakfast sandwich which was basically a 3-egg omelet between two slices of bread, stuffed full of veggies. Â The owners are charming folks. Â This spot is very highly recommended.
