This would have been a middle of the road 3 star rating but the onion rings alone are worth a full star...went looking for a new place to eat with my girlfriend, ended up here service wasn't overly enthusiastic, but certainly not bad either, she ordered the fried shrimp basket which was totally solid, the shrimp were nice and sweet, and the texture was just right, the fries were steak fries, and overall just kinda "meh", I ordered the tavern burger, and it arrived slightly overcooked (ordered medium, got med well but still not dry) it also had a pair of onion rings on top...no big deal I thought...then I ate one of the onion rings, and I'm not kidding, they are (to date) the best onion rings I've ever had...the batter was super light, airy, and crispy...the onion itself thickly cut and nice and sweet. Â The burger also had bacon that was cooked nicely on it, and some more "meh" fries on the side (mine were missing the seasoning that hers had as well) so overall it was a decent place with a few minor inconsistencies that could be remedied with a little attention to detail, and the food was pretty solid...
Also the burger is much bigger than the menu description leads you to believe.
I decided to go eat at The Boulevard because it is close to where I live.  Terrible service.  They were not crowded at all.  A party of 3, then myself waited 15 minutes and still were not greeted or acknowledged. Finally they noticed us and  a hostess came to seat the party of 3.  I then I waited an additional 5 minutes and they never came back to seat me.  I finally left. They were too busy wrapping silverware and attending other customers to even greet the new customers.  I will not go back.
Review Source:Went here for breakfast... Didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. The biscuits & gravy was quite good... Homemade biscuits were awesome. The husband got an omelet and pancakes and loved them both. Â Service was a little slow and the breakfast menu isn't extensive or anything, but it was overall scrumptious.
Review Source:My husband and I gave this place two chances and both times the food was horrible. Â We also had a very rude and miserable waitress who was clearly stressed over 4tables at 8am. Â My husband asked for a cup of hot tea and when the water came back and it tasted like fish water it was disgusting. Â So the hostess actually came over and asked how things were when we told her about the tea she brought us a new cup the water was fine. Â I ordered a fajita omelette in which all the vegetables were under cooked the meat was very undercooked As well as all wrapped in cheese with eggs and it was horrible. Â We've lived in the area for six years and truly hoped that this would be a restaurant to keep unfortunately, I am sorry to say that we will never go back again we gave them the second chance and they blew it.
Review Source:The service here is EXTREMELY slow. Â I've eaten here 3 times and each time we nearly walked out because of serious delays in being greeted, taking our order and then delivering food. Â The best I can say about the food? Â It was fine, but far from great. Â I think three times is a charm for us. Â We likely won't return.
Review Source:I have eaten here two times (to many) the servers seem too busy doing tasks that the customers are in the way. The food...my husband ordered a turkey club that I wouldn't serve an enemy, I had a burger that looke worse than a mcdonalds burger. I don't know if it was because we ordered on a sunday and the regular chef was out or if this is how bad the food always is, I will never go there again.
Review Source:A group of 4 went there for lunch today. The waitress was a sweetheart but the had to leave half way through our meal and that only left the bartender to handle the whole place. I felt really bad for her because she had to do a lot of running around. As far as the food goes - both Rubens were so soggy we had to eat them with a knife and fork which sucks. Onion rings were good and the sweet potato fries were just ok. My father definitely enjoyed the liver and onions despite the onions being really undercooked and the vegies coming from a can. We ordered jalapeño poppers but were told that they did not have any when the brought out our meal. They did however send out free mozzarella sticks to make up for the lack of poppers. It was a nice gesture but the mozzarella sticks were so over cooked there wasn't any cheese left in them so they were inedible. The decor was a bit dark and it had ceiling tiles missing, our table was real wobbly too which can drive you nuts.
Review Source:The Apollo Beach area has seen a growth spurt lately in restaurants. Â The Boulevard is laid out nicely, 45% lounge, 55% restaurant with a small stage. Â The bar is nicely done, u-shaped to allow a single bartender to service about 15 people. Â The food is good and I've sampled most of the menu there. Â What tends to be spotty is the service. Â For example, yesterday with a full bar and only one table in the dining room, the bartender interrupted a patron's songs on the juke box. Â First he said because it had offensive words, but then he corrected himself when he found out his songs were all censored and said it was because of the aggressive noise. Â He did this without consulting his patrons or without asking if they cared. Â When challenged, he dismissed their feelings and simply gave them $2 for their songs. Â Those $2 became his tip on a $40+ tab. Â That couple goes in there once a week. Â If their average tab is $40 X 52 weeks, The Boulevard lost $2000/year over inconsiderate treatment. Â Of the people that noticed what happened and just watched, if only one or two of them change their view of the Boulevard, well, you can do the math.
Today as people have limited resources for discretionary income and with a fantastic tiki-bar and restaurant only one mile down the road from The Boulevard, it seems that they would push customer service to the limit. Â Another note is their location has seen the fall of the last two establishments over the last three years.
Overall I would recommend this place for the food, and if all you want is a drink. Â Don't expect special treatment or intuitive service levels and you won't be disappointed.
As a long time member of the community and someone who eats out almost every meal, I know good service when I experience it. Â Feel free to write me if you have any questions.
