Holy smoke, you never know these days. We stopped at this large gas station/store because we saw a Subway sign and figured we could get a decent salad. Wrong. The Subway was tiny, they had never heard of spinach salad, and the meat looked ... well, distressed. We started to leave and then spotted a buffet restaurant around the corner. Looked pretty good, and so we sat down for a bigger lunch. The result was very nice, to be honest about it. The fried chicken was moist and had a tasty crust, the veggies were a mite salty but tasted pretty darned fresh. Our friendly waitress kept re-filling the tea, and the owner dropped by to inquire into our health and welfare. Altogether, a good experience where we had expected little. Lots of locals seemed to eating here, and truck drivers, too. The place has several life-size statues of John Wayne to go with its western theme, so there's a lot to look at while you're putting away the buffet. Nothing world shaking here, but worth a stop if you're hungry for meat-and-twos.
