My husband and I come here every time we visit my parents in bemidji. Â I really like the atmosphere, it's very comfortable. Â I feel at home here. Â The food is very good, I'm usually impressed with it. Â It's generally bar food, but well done and consistent. Â I recommend the walleye - sandwich or dinner - my husband likes the shepherds pie, but usually wishes it was a bigger plate of food. Â I have to echo what another reviewer said - the service can leave something to be desired. Â The wait staff spend a lot of time chatting with each other or with other customers and will ignore you. Â We sat at the bar for a while during our last visit. Â My husband had to stare down the bartender. Â But once he came over he was very nice, if excessively chatty, and didn't forget us again. Â I think he was having an off night, but it does happen almost every time. Â One waitress (and I wish I knew her name - all I know about her is that she has young twins) is very good, attentive, and friendly. Â We went once for lunch with our kids (this is a good place for kids, during the day) and she was great. Â Another waitress I saw last night looked like she was walking around in a daze. Â I saw her answer the phone. She picked it up and waited for a full five seconds - a long time when you answer the phone - before saying "hello, brigid's cross, can I help you?" Then hung up the phone. Â It was strange.
Anyway, I recommend this place but be prepared for service that can be inattentive.
We randomly chose this restaurant to eat at for lunch. Â Not sure what to expect, it looked pretty inviting with the outside patio seating. Â The inside was mostly wood and gave the up north feel to me. Â I was suprised that I could order the vegetarian pot pie meal and it tasted pretty decent. Â I do think the best part was the creative fried mac-n-cheese bites! Â I figured, I'm up north in an Irish restaurant I might as well give 'em a try with my Guinness!
We had not problems with the staff, in fact we had fast service.
I don't know about Frank's deal, hope he gets better soon.
Look, ,,, I'm sitting here right now. There are maybe 10 people here and all are having lunch. I'm drinking Irish beer from the tap, eating Corned Beef Egg Rolls,http://www.yelp.com/user…
waiting for Lamb Roast dinner and listening to Irish folk songs. I'm having a blast! Â The food is fresh and tastes wonderful. I highly recommend you stop in.
Brigid's Cross is probably the only respectable bar in Bemidji. Â The atmosphere is superb, the drink choices ample, and the live music eclectic. Â Unlike many of the other bars in town, the Brigid's Cross crowd tends to be very diverse. Â In other words, it is not primarily a college hang out. Â One can enjoy a night out on the town with friends or a romantic dinner, given the variety of seating options, from bar stools to discrete booths. Â If you make it there be sure to try the Boddington's on tap, or for the wine lover, the delicious Riesling.
