Atmosphere is great, and no complaints about the service or Beer selection. Also interesting is the selection of Ciders. However, we have eaten here twice and each time we were disappointed in the food. I guess there is a reason people make fun of British cuisine. The first visit's cottage pie was just a mixture of ground beef, vegetables and some kind of tasteless sauce with plain mashed potatoes on top. The second time we had the fish and chips. Fried fish and french fries. The coating on the fish was blah and the fish still had some of that slimy black stuff on the bottom. I hate that. No imagination, no creativity, no piquancy at all to the taste. It came with "mushy peas" or baked beans. I chose the baked beans (which actually were not bad) because when I asked the waitress if the Mushy peas were what they sounded like, "Yes, just peas mashed up." If there was anything more than that to the dish, I guess I'll never know.
The other thing that is just baffles me is the signage outside the restaurant. Their sign is blocked by a large palm tree and is completely unreadable from busy Bower Parkway. Frankly even if it wasn't behind that Palm Tree, it would still be hard to make out what was occupying that space because of the way the sign is designed. The main reason why you would want to pay the high rents for a place on a busy thoroughfare is so you can catch the drive by traffic that will see you from the road. what a Waste! It's too bad because a lot of people would be attracted by the unique niche this pub provides and might even like bland plain food.

The wife and I had to give this place a try . We had been out shopping in Harbison on a Saturday morning and decided to stop in for lunch.Im not going into great detail about the service it was slightly below avg. Had a male server who didn't seem like he was all there on that day , spoke to quietly , didn't refill drinks and so on . The meals are basically something you could find anywhere for ohh 5 bucks or so . But we paid 31 dollars for lunch with tip , a bit pricey . my wife got some dish (cant remember the name ) but it was like a seafood bake with cheese and a cream sauce . The only real seafood in was the 4 shrimp we saw. The crab was artificial and the scallops(bay) are the kind that they cookie cutter out of fish . Not very tasty at all . I had the chicken curry spice level3 . It was the size of about a 1/3 of a chicken breast with a 1/2 cup of rice some steamed veggies and 4 tiny triangles of naan bread (i mean tiny). Just not a very good meal and just too high for quality you recv or quanity you get .

A nice place to have drinks but you may want to skip the meal.  I had the Cottage Pie. It had canned peas and carrots and a bland gravy over it. My wife had the Caesar Chicken Wrap and was not impressed.

I went here for lunch, and it was okay. Don't bother looking at their beer list because chances are they won't have the one you want, and our server did not seem to know the list very well.  The food was good, and the waitress was very nice. However, she was a little too attentive in sort of an annoying way, like walking back and forth and constantly removing things from our table. It seemed a bit like we were being rushed, but I could be wrong. I wasn't disappointed, but probably won't be going back.

Monday was my third visit to the British Bulldog.  Food was great, but was thinking that there would be more British Food on the menu.  There was a big group of us and we were able to get the big room in the back of the restaurant.  Since we were able to order in spurts, our food came out fairly quickly.

Did not like it. Fish was undercooked and slimey. Everything is overpriced. Server was rude. Will not be going back.

I came here with my friend and we met up with some of her other friends.  We only stopped by to have a drink before heading over to see a movie.  I do not know if this is just South Carolina, but the drinks were inexpensive.  It was like $2.50 well drinks.  Then, I thought it would be a good idea for everyone to take a shot.  I bought 5 shots for $10.  I was expecting to spend at least $40-50.

Overall, the crowd was a mix and super friendly.  The staff was great and quick.  Drinks were affordable.  If I ever come back to the area, I would come back.  Great hang out bar.

My group had a meeting early in the morning and we couldn't find a place open with a private room. British Bulldog Pub opened at 8 am just for us so we could hold our meeting, which was pretty awesome of them. The manager or owner was super friendly and the waitress very cool and nice. Thanks to them we had a place to go and do our class and to eat an amazing breakfast. I had the Bacon Sandwich and it was mmmm mmm good. I need to come back again and taste the food in the menu, I bet it will be as good as my sandwich. It has seating area outside in this nice strip mall and the inside is pretty nicely decorated I felt like I was in a real pub in Europe. I definitely recommend this place to eat, drink, or take in a soccer game.

This place is fantastic.  Love the ambiance, the food, and the service.  The beer selection is almost perfect and the prices are reasonable!

What can I say it's one of a kind. I was surprised to find this gem of a place. The staff excellent and friendly. Had the fish and chips and they were classic true to form. The fish was haddock with a light crisp batter and fries thick cut with a nice bite. Lots of beers on tap to choose from if your looking for a good ole pint. Check them out for a good soccer game on the big screen too if that's your game.

    Good Food! Good Atmosphere!

Nice little cozy pub in the Harbison area offering great English food and great English beer!  The menu offers classics like bangers and mash, corned beef, fish and chips... and some eclectic surprises!

    my favorites...

    The Red Eye burger
A half pound Sirloin Burger topped with English Bacon, Over Easy Eggs, two shots of Tabasco Sauce, Red Onions, Lettuce and Tomato.

    The Bulldog Cristo
Ham and Swiss cheese on some good hearty bread with wholegrain mustard, battered and deep fat  fried served with a sprinkling of powdered sugar! Sweet and Spicy- good and gooey!!

And..if you go you have to try the Scotch Egg!
A hard boiled egg surrounded in ground sausage, breaded and deep fat fried until golden brown, served with spicy whole grain mustard.

And... Treat yourself to a McSorley's Irish Black Lager on tap!!  A very British selection tastes of cream, roasted barley and coffee...perfect choice with the food!

Sunday lunch. Disclaimer - I'm  English. Interior - not exactly like an English pub but close enough - real efforts have been made not to have it look as though it's in a mall. The restrooms are nothing like those in an English pub and that is a Good Thing! We sat outside in the sun at a pub-style picnic table and our server was delightful - relaxed and helpful and apparently interested in our opinion of the food. Excellent beer selection on tap and bottled. In England the beer would be warmish and not so fizzy but this is America. The menu was really interesting as it really looks like a contemporary English pub menu with a nod to Indian food (meatballs in a creamy cashew sauce) and Thai fish bites. We shared a Scotch egg which was so much better than any Scotch egg I've eaten in UK - well spiced and not greasy. And we shared Bangers & mash served with a grainy  English mustard. The sausage really tasted and felt like an English sausage - like the best of its kind - it's a different sausage from those you typically get here, so be prepared for that. I liked it a lot, even though I'm not a huge fan of standard English sausages. The mashed potato tasted like something we would make at home - so it was delicious! We went using a Groupon and would go back for a beer and a snack if we were in the area. Loads of parking.
    Good job, chaps!

Not much I can add that hasn't already been said here.

The service is very attentive. The atmosphere very relaxed and British.

I ordered the fish&chips. It took a little while to get the order but I realized that it was because it was made from scratch and not sitting under a heat lamp. when it got to me it was a very large portion. The fish was perfectly cooked. I have never been to England and had authentic fish & chips, but if they are not like the fish&chips I tasted...they should be.

I went to British Bulldog on Tuesday night for the 9:00 trivia.  I had already had dinner so really this review is on their service, quality of tea, and trivia, all of which I felt were an overwhelming 5 stars.  My friends however did eat dinner and they seemed pretty satisfied w/what they got, or atleast they didn't complain.

This place is a true English pub and has all the charm and authenticity of an English pub.  First off, one of the owners, Mark, is English himself and true to English culture, shows soccer games on several of the bar televisions (love it!).  Second, I was SOOOO happy that they offer a selection of hot tea, which seems like such a small thing, but most restaurants and bars around Columbia just seem to think the only tea I'm talking about is sweet tea (no!!!).  At BB, they have several to choose from, and the decaffeinated peach flavored tea I got was perfect.  They served it with lemon wedges and a small cup of honey, and I was in bliss (it's been a long time since I've had English tea!).  Lastly, the atmosphere has that realist English pub feel to it with a dark interior and ofcourse the soccer games on many of the televisions, is fantastic.

Service was unbelievably excellent too. Our server, Casey, was super sweet and incredibly attentive.  She was amazing from the moment we walked in until the second we walked out (very friendly and outgoing!).  My friend accidentally left her phone behind and Casey ran out to the parking lot to let us know before we drove off.  She's very cool and knows how to make you feel welcome.  We got a chance to speak to Mark and he is gregarious and funny and just an all around great guy (I'm rooting for him that this restaurant does well!).  Lastly, if you like a little eye candy (insert blushing here), look for the new bartender Ryan at the bar, I'm guessing he will do quite well in his new job!..lol...  Great job with staffing BB!

Trivia was fun and well rounded.  They did ask a couple of sports questions (which I hate!) but they did a great job of mixing it up and threw in questions on music, television, business, and politics too.  I liked their trivia more than Brixx and Mellow Mushroom.

Oh, related to the food, I really liked that one of the chefs went out of his way to accommodate my vegetarian friend.  Apparently one of the dishes he asked for, they couldn't make that night (I think they were out of one of the ingredients or something), so he came out to our table to talk to my friend about alternatives that he could make.  He seemed really concerned in making sure my friend was happy with his order and went the extra mile.  This kind of service stands out and goes a long way.

I wholeheartedly recommend this place and can't wait to go back!

The wife had purchased a Groupon so we decided to use it for lunch earlier today.

Nice location with lots of parking, outside tables available.

Inside is nice and cozy with alot of TV's for the sports enthusiast...
Euro Soccer was being broadcast on every telly.

    The food:
    Baked Brie was delicious.
Thai Haddock Bites were equally delish.
Chicken and Leek Pastry which the wife said was very tasty.

The portions are HUGE,we ordered 3 items and left with 3  to-go boxes.

The month of August beer selection looked tempting,I did not partake but will definitely be back to taste a few when the NFL season kicks in.

Our server was prompt and friendly

4 stars on the food + 1 star for the staff.

The best British Pub in Columbia!  We have been there twice now and both times were top notch!  A fine selection of authentic beer and a great traditional menu.  We had the Pub Burger which was excellent along with a wedge salad.  Both were very good.  The next visit, we had the fish and chips.  I can honestly say that the fish was the best cod I have ever had.  Light, flaky and fried just so.  Our waitress, Sarah, was efficient and friendly.

Pickle and Christin (?) are the best beer-tenders!   Atmosphere is great....very UK.  Ate twice; burgers are awesome but the chicken on the chicken sandwich was VERY small.  Friend got fish & chips twice.  First time was great second time was almost all breading.  Prices went up last week. Prices went from high to....is it worth it? Prices do not match the food portion.(sorry guys).
Beer selection is awesome and cold. Thumbs up on that one!

Ate dinner here twice.  I enjoyed the casual atmosphere. The food was very good, however the Scotch Egg appetizer seemed grossly overpriced. I will definitely return. Thank you for serving the brew ice cold for us Yanks!
