What a great BBQ find this joint is! Â Order & pay at the counter & the waitress brings your drinks & food to your table (and does the refills, too). Â Unique, eclectic atmosphere... loved the seat benches made from pickup tailgates! Â
We had the pulled pork dinner tonight and it was smashingly good... They pull their pork by hand and don't chop it, so it's just like you'd do yourself if you had the time. Â And, it was cooked to perfection.
They've got six special sauces sitting on your table... the molasses "Mississippi Mud" and hot one "Rump Roaster" were our faves. Â We had broccoli, slaw, fried corn on the cob (what a great idea!!!), and fried pickle coins (if you like pickles, these are totally awesome) -- all were perfect. Â
Very friendly & polite staff! Â Overall, BQs is a great place & you'll enjoy it, fer sure!
I had heard less than promising things about the Bubba Que's in Gainesville so I'd never tried it despite it being fairly near the soccer fields and thus a good location for me, however, while in Bronson recently I tried it because it was in the middle of the afternoon and it was either Bubba Que's or Subway so . . .
The interior is decorated in a country-cute way with a lot of redneck references: my friend and I, being kinda country boys ourselves were not sure what to think--I mean, it's like every redneck stereotype and if you did that to any other cultural group they'd be all kinds of upset, but it is cute in its way, I suppose. The staff at this location were very friendly and fast and they had Dukes of Hazzard on the TV which was actually really fun to watch while we ate. More importantly by far, the BBQ was actually very good and they have about ten different sauces to try on the table which was cool, too. Their French fries were hot, fresh, and really awesome--and I don't even normally really like French fries.
So seriously, I'm impressed: the BBQ, fries, and sweet tea were all very good. I won't dare put them on the same level of like Akin's BBQ in Bell or Pearl Country Store in Micanopy but Bubba Que's is waaaaay ahead of Sonny's and any other chain BBQ place I've ever encountered.
