Went here for dinner last night and it was awesome. I got the whiskey glazed chicken with potatoes and side salad. Add a pint of Batch 19 and you're golden. It's right off the interstate so it's easy to access and its right next to Cabela's. Kill two birds with one stone.
It's comparable to the other steakhouse in town as far as price and quality, but the decor is a little updated.
We were staying @ Cabelas rv park and wanted something close.
It's an okay place to eat, good, but not impressive. Â Nice and clean dining area.
They did let my wife and I split a rib steak with a $2 charge that included and extra salad and baked potato. What a deal. Steak had good flavor but not hot. Fries were just terrible. Salad okay baked potato hard. Order your steak a little more done than you usually do.
Driving through NE we stopped for dinner. Â The choices to eat were fast food or this place. Â Living in Chicago I have had my range of good, bad and overpriced steak. Â This was OK. Â The steak was well seasoned but I ordered the ribeye medium rare and it came out medium which would be fine but at $26 for a 10oz steak it needs to cooked right. Â I suppose it is my fault, driving past all those cows I though I would get a good steak at a good price but....
Decent beer selection.
Upon arriving at our first stop in Nebraska we were craving some steak and decided to try this place out during our stay in Sidney.
To put it simple, this place has potential but definitely needs to work on a few things.....and on a personal side note, I don't think the head chef should be the mobile Yelp Duke of the restaurant....or try to make another restaurant profile cuz the main one has bad reviews. If you got bad reviews, how bought actually trying to fix these problems instead of trying to cover it up.
First impressions of this and I'd think of something similar to an OutBack Steakhouse. But once inside I could tell there were trying to be viewed as a little more upscale, than they actually are.... i.e. covered dining tables, and the cloth napkins, and a few other little tidbits.
Our server (young blonde girl) was nice, but could improve on a few things such as:
-first introducing herself to the table and then go into her little specials of the night etc ...Hi I'm So-an-So, and I'll be serving you tonight. Tonights specials are blank, blank, and blank...Can I get you something other to drink than water?
-she also put 4 side plates on the table and just walked away. She didn't mention that the plates were for the bread, that we didn't receive until we asked another waiter who ended up getting the bread for us.
Since it was in the middle of the week, it seemed kinda slow, so maybe we got a little more attention and quicker service than others have experienced...at least in the big dinning area. Probably only about 15-20 other people eating at that time. The four of us each ordered a good meatly meal...2 ribeye's (smaller size) with baked potato, and 2 prime ribs (one large/one small portion size) with a baked and one with a mashed potato. Then 3 salads, and their soup of the day, tortilla soup.
Nothin special about the soup or salad, but still good none the less....but we barely got time to enjoy them before our meal. Within 2 minutes of getting the soup/salads our main course meal was being delivered (then the waiter asked if we were done with the salads, when we had only had a few bites), and you know what this tells me.....not made to order....then it took forever for plates to be removed from the table, you'd think they would get the hint if the plate is empty and are off to the side.
The baked potatoes were not soft AT ALL and were pretty dry, also unlike what I'm used to from every other restaurant were I've gotten a baked potato, they did not include chives just butter and sour cream(hhmm maybe its a Nebraska thing cuz neither did the other steak restaurant I went to the next day).
The steaks were ok at best. Back here in SoCal, when you order a ribeye, you more than likely get a nice about 1" thick beautifully marbled steak. These ribeye's were very thin, not as well marbled and affected the way there were cooked because a med-rare, was more medium. The prime rib was actual cooked perfectly. My med-rare was med rare, however the outer crust was just plain nasty. It was like a super salty/peppery beef jerky type of flavor and just was caked on the whole outer edge of the cut of meat. If they ditched that nasty rub, they'd be doing themselves a favor.....for being in Nebraska, known overall for their Omaha steaks, you'd think a steak restaurant would know how to actually cook a steak.
Our overall experience was nice (even saw a great sunset being seated near a window) and I know if was more because I was having a meal with my family, but the food could have been better for the price. I also overheard one of the waiters say she was 19, so I'll ease up a little on the servers, but I think they should get a little more training on how to talk and interact with the customers.
25 minutes for salads and rolls that we were informed by our server (the hostess who was not happy to be a server this evening) our entrees took another 20 minutes to come out and when they did they were cold. I asked for my meal to be removed. I informed the manager that everyones steaks were cold. He offered to give a 50% off the bill. I didn't feel I should pay anything but I agreed to it. This was a $37 mistake. I would go to the Perkins instead.
Review Source:The food made me violently ill so I called the restaurant back to let them know to check the crab for food quality. There was no offer for a refund or even an apology. Two tables got up and left while we were there because the serving staff apparently forgot about them. The steak my husband has ordered had no flavor and I would put it on par with Denny's. In the end I didn't get to eat anything else on my plate and was obviously not too happy that I paid for something I didn't enjoy at all. Save your time, your money and your stomach and eat somewhere else. The Perkins was great, friendly staff and I didn't have to worry about food poisoning.
