Bulldog's Beach House

Service was terrible.  Waitress forgot to submit our order.  The management was pathetic in correcting this oversight.  They avoided us and made the "first day on the job" waitress deal with us.  The poor management was inexcusable.  The food came out cold and didn't match our order.  Won't go there again!

First of all, they used to have a good Happy Hour!!  2 for 1 drink specials on everything except shots.  This year I heard they stopped it.
 
We probably won't be going back because that was the only reason we went.

The food is over priced and you don't get much for your money, and not very good!!

I enjoy heading to the lake every summer. I typically am on one mission: to get krunked (that's crunk with a "k", peeps). Spending my time at Lake of the Ozarks is my ideal "summer vacation". I'm all about relaxing, drinking, and boating.

This Memorial Day was no different. I had every intention on sitting lakeside at Bulldog's outdoor bar with some girlfriends, watching the boats pass by, and saying my farewells to the final days of summertime. (so depressing)

My plans diminished when we walked in to a packed house. No sitting outside for us; a waitress barked at us as she walked by and told us to sit somewhere. I guess that's our cue to grab a table.

So we cram into a table by the front door. First thing first: employees take their smoke breaks...by the front door outside. Kitchen staff (still wearing their aprons) sticky and sweaty from working in the heat of the kitchen, walk outside with their food soiled aprons, light up a smoke, do their thing, and walk back inside. This happened time after time while we were there. That's cool if you gotta smoke, but does it have to be by the front door of your business? I could see EVERYTHING. Pretty sure that's a health code violation waiting to happen. Not to mention, I had to deal with the thought of their freshly tarnished cigarette fingers touching my food while making it. I was a little grossed out while watching employees casually smoke, scratch their hair, play with crusted food particles on their aprons, pick lint off their clothes, itch their nose, but I said whatever and moved on. No need to be picky on a relaxing weekend.

So our waitress grabs our drink and food orders. She's pretty nice. She was in a hurry so I can't blame her for not talking much. Memorial Day weekend at the lake brings in a load of lake vacationers.

Food arrives and it's pretty shitty. At the fear of sounding callous, it was probably some of the worst bar food I've ever had. All of our food was cold and bland. Bleu cheese dressing that was served with our boneless hot wings was runny and felt like it had been sitting at room temperature. The dressing had actually separated; the cheese particles had sunk to the bottom of the container, while the rest of the dressing had liquefied and surfaced to the top. It was runny, warm, bleu cheese dressing.

My friend ordered nachos. Chips with canned cheese sauce poured on top. Cold. Plain. Bland. Side of sour cream and jalapenos. Small chunks of chicken topped the canned ballpark cheese sauce that was poured on the stale chips.

The nice thing about Bulldog's Beachhouse is that, like most of the bars on the lake, you can pull your boat up and dock it. If you have your heart set on Bulldog's, I'd recommend you arrive by boat and park it in a boat dock, instead of dealing with the hell of finding this place by car. It sits back on a deserted lake road, on a deathly steep hill that opens up to the water. Much easier access by boat. Once you dock your boat, you can hop off and start drinking at their bar that overlooks the lake. They're located at Mile Marker 33.

Overall, the food was a huge disappointment. The ambiance was a huge disappointment. The lack of cleanliness was disappointing. And that nice waitress of ours? She short changed me when dropping off my change from my bill.
