While on vacation, we drove or biked past unassuming neighborhood- style waterfront bar in Cedarville before we got the nerve to stop in and sit a spell. Â I am glad we did. Â The bartender was very welcoming, as were the others there. Expecting the strict Budweiser distributor style of beer list, I was delighted to find that some Oberon had made its way to that far corner of Michigan for the summer. Â
We sat on the back porch that overlooked the municipal dock. Â It had been hastily surrounded in chicken wire to a height of 9 feet, and there was a large funnel strapped to some upright 2x4s with elastic cords. Â Yes, it was a water balloon launcher. Â The bartender told us we had just missed the annual Pirate Attack (usually the last weekend in July), where boats beach themselves in the reeds and cattails to attack the revelers on the porch. Â The water balloon launcher is used to drive them off. Â Apparently there is a lot of beer involved, in case you were wondering.
