Okay, so 4 stars is a bit high for this neighborhood bar, but it is definitely 4-5 stars for a Gridley bar. To qualify that statement, the other hot bar in town is a trailer in the parking lot of Safeway. So, you see what we're working with here.
They have Karaoke on Fridays. They have pool. The friendly people playing pool will actually ask and encourage you to play with them (rather than hoard the tables and get pissed when you need to walk by them on your way to the bathroom, like some places). The bartender, Shawna, was super nice and kept me company until my friend arrived. We sat at the bar, drank enormous "schooner" beers and chatted for hours. My friend tends to be a bit indecisive about her girlie beverages, so we left it to Shawna to get creative. They even had something called "Sweet Tea" Seagrams, although neither my friend nor I were adventurous enough to try it.
There is a super cool digital photo frame over the bar and we spied some shots of our high school friends on it. I think this would be a great place to bring a group for some post-baseball game at the park drinks, etc. I'll be back when in town ;)
Recently renovated & under new ownership (Barbara is as cool as they come), it is by far (IMHO) the best watering hole in town, its clean, serves decent reasonably priced drinks.  They also have a snack menu to cure the inevitable "munchies".  There's Kareoke during the week & a live band on the weekends.  There are several flat screens to watch your favorite sporting event  - which I guess means that it also doubles as a "Sports Bar" - hey, works for me.  Only downer is no taxi available in town,  however, If you need a ride, I understand that in some cases the staff may be able to arrange one for you - otherwise you will have to have a taxi dispatched all the way from Yuba City (which is about 15 miles away) so plan on having a designated driver.
