Being vegetarian, I was not exactly expecting there to be much of a selection for me at Burgee Dave's. Boy, was I wrong! My mouth is watering right now at the thought of Cedar Plank Fries, Quinoa Salad, Spinach Fettuccine, and Brian's Bloody Marys. This was the perfect finish to a day of tubing down the river. I agree with my fellow reviewers that Brian was very warm and inviting; he made you feel like part of his family. You can tell that he really enjoys what he does for a living. Next time I head up to the hills, I am definitely going to Burgee Dave's!!!!
Review Source:When we started driving out to this place, I was thinking, "Really, There's a bar out here?" Â I mean seriously. Â Camptonville is in the middle of the woods. Â I was surprised the town had a post office. Â I was even more surprised when we got to Burgee Dave's. Â The owner was a boisterous, friendly man who welcomed us right away. Â The food was pub style but with flare. Â Try the Cedar Plank Fries! Â They are not to be missed. Â The drinks were fabulous. Â We collectively ordered a glass of wine, a hard cider and a Bloody Mary. Â The wine was out of a bottle and from a real winery. Â The hard cider was a micro brew and very delicious. Â The Bloody Mary was amazing! Â All the accoutrements! Â As an added bonus, the decor was very fun. Â The bar is decorated entirely in a mermaid theme.
Review Source:The Cougar Burger alone is worth a three to four hour drive from the Bay Area. As is one of Brian's infamous bear hugs!
As a good friend of the first reviewer who has partaken in their "little slice of heaven", I have spent many a Friday evening hanging out at Burgee Dave's after the long car ride from the Bay. Every time I walk in the door I immediately feel at home. Even though Burgee Dave's is 165 miles from my home its the best damn local bar a girl could ask for!
The food is fantastic, the drinks are strong (Brian makes the spiciest Bloody Mary I've ever had) and the conversation is always lively. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming all due to Brian and Sandy.
Sunday night is open mic night and not to be missed if you are in the area. But don't expect to sit back and just watch, at some point you will be handed any number of hand percussion instruments and encouraged to join in.
And once they start singing a home cooked version of "Sweet Home Camptonville", you can't help but sing along!
It is a great honor to be the first to review Burgee's....and admittedly, it's also a somewhat intimidating task. Can I really do it justice? Probably not. Which means that you'll just have to come see for yourself.
My man and I purchased our own little slice of heaven property up here in the foothills. It's our weekend get-a-way and start-up winery business. If we hadn't made this spontaneous, ill-thought out purchase, we would certainly have never discovered Burgee Dave's... or even Camptonville for that matter. Thank god for impulse buys!
Okay, so you can't talk about Burgee's without talking about the owners...Brian and Sandy. They are what makes this place more than a bar....they make it our home away from home....and here's why:
-Just spent all day pruning the vineyard and need a snack and a beer? ...... Go to Burgee's!
-Drive up to your property for the first time in the winter and discover that it's under 3 feet of snow and there's no way you can get up the road?.....Go to Burgee's!
-Have a bunch of food for a Super Bowl Party that no one came to due to afore mentioned 3 feet of snow?.....Go to Burgee's!
-Caught your first fox in the fox trap and don't know where to go to release the growling, hissing little monster?....go to Burgee's!
-Pick-up truck breaks down and you don't know any local mechanics?.... Go to Burgee's!
-Need to get your fill of local town gossip?....go to Burgee's!
-Having problems with your well and need to find a "well-guy"?....go to Burgee's!
I could go on....but I think I've made my point.....Go to Burgee's!
Yeah, I could say nice things about the mermaid decor, the Cougar Burger and the Hemp Ale on tap, but  you could find similar attractions at any number of bars. What you can't find is the likes of Brian and Sandy who have succeeded in making Camptonville feel like it's are actual home and not just a vacation home.
And as Brian always says, "Ain't no party like a Camptonville party!"
