Bynum's Steakhouse

Sat there and gave drink order twice. After 45 minutes and no drinks also nobody wanted to take our food order. We walked out. I do not recommend.

I made a reservation here for my sister's birthday.  When we arrived at the restaurant the hostess said that she didn't have any reservation for us and that I had probably called the other Bynam's in Indianapolis.  First of all, I did not call the Bynam's in Indianapolis, I called the 765 number and I actually believe I spoke to the actual hostess that claimed we did not have a reservation.  She was extremely rude and didn't even offer to see if she could fit us in.  We were pretty upset by her behavior, and asked to speak to the manager.  She stomped off and came back and said he would be there in a minute.  In the meantime, she took a call and made reservations for 4 people, for this same evening in less than 1/2 hour from the time we were standing there.  ARE YOU KIDDING?  Once the manager came up front, we realized that the hostess was not the rudest person we would meet that night!   He was even nastier then she was.  He was so nasty that my dad got really upset.  He and the manager had words and the manager told us to "get the hell out" and then went he hid behind a wall and actually threatened us!  This coward was rude, nasty and completely out of line. Note to the owner:  Not that I will ever visit Bynam's again, but you may want to find people with some sort of higher education and class to work here.   Being illiterate may explain why the hostess could not remember our reservation and I believe ignorace and lack of exposure to main stream society may explain the manager's conduct.  On the upside, we drove back to civilation and ate at Janko's in Bloomington.  We were then actually thankful for the atrocious behavior we encountered at Bynum's, because we would not have had such an great evening at Janko's.

Every small town seems to have a place like this...unassuming and surprising.  Stopped here after cleaning out our daughter's Bloomington apartment.  Couldn't have been happier. Friendly and attentive staff, plenty of good high quality food.  This s no local version of Outback.  This s good food in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
