We went there the other night and I would and will go back soon.  I got the mozzarella sticks and they are slices covered in a homemade batter that was crunchy.  They were a little greasy but awesome. I also got the Penne al Forno, it was so much there that we brought it home and made another meal out of it. It came with a salad and garlic bread knots, also good. it was 10.99 but I think for the amount of food, it was a good deal.

This is now called Amoroso's.We had as a appetizer 6 homemade mozzarella sticks 5.99. They were pretty good but a little greasy. My guest had the penne al forno 10.99 which came out in a huge bowl with a lot of cheese. I thought it was a little watery but she liked it. I had the homemade meatball parmigiana sub 7.99 . They were really good with plenty of cheese. With soft drinks the total was around 30 bucks. We took some of everything we ordered home. The sauce tasted homemade. The cons were the tv was way to loud and the room smelled like bathroom cleaner we also noticed a lot of dust on the window blinds.Pros were the food was good ,service friendly and close to home.

When I went in, there was a sign saying that it was under new management. It was my first time there, but I looked at their menu online before I went in, and they have a new menu at the restaurant.
The portions were huge. Judging by the time it took for the food to come to the table, I will say that the food is made to order, but that it wasn't made with love and care.
    I will probably come back.
The staff was friendly.  Since they weren't busy when I was there, I received personalized service.

This a wonderful stop for homemade food in rural Maryland.  We stopped by for dinner after an afternoon hike in nearby Rock State Park in Jarrettsville - about 2 miles away.  This place is two restaurants in one - an informal 'sports bar' and take-out operation called the 'Varsity Room' and a family style restaurant in the back, the 'dining room'.  The sign above the corridor to the 'dining room' notifies guests that it opens at 4pm daily.  The rest of the time, you'll receive counter service in the Varsity Room.
We ate in the Varsity Room because it was game day for the Ravens.  The menu had your typical pizzeria / sports bar items - pizzas, stromboli, calzones, burgers, sandwiches, subs, wings and salads.  We ordered wings, salad and 'the works' pizza.  We're NY-style pizza lovers, and the pizza here wasn't the best we had or the worst.  Toppings were generous, cheese was good and right amount if sauce, but crust was a bit soggy.  We had the traditional tossed salad with balsamic vinaigrette.  It was fresh and basic, but did the job.  Staff were friendly and helpful and the place is clean.
We looked at the dinner menu and specials and the pastas, entrees and specials sounded interesting and appetizing.  Diners passing through the Varsity Room in the way out looked satisfied.  The dinner menu referenced their popular bread pudding - would have been nice to try if we weren't full, so maybe next time.
If we're in the area again, we'll choose the dining room and see if the dishes deliver against their tempting descriptions.  Would recommend a visit if you're in the area.
