Cafe Fiesta Fe is no longer... Serna Brother's Restaurant has moved into this location.

This is probably the best restaurant in Richland Center, and certainly the best Mexican restaurant in Richland Center, from my experience.

The restaurant itself has elegant decor, featuring slick hardwood floors, tasteful black-and-white pictures on the walls, and nice wooden tables and chairs.

Ultimately, however, it's just an average Mexican-style restaurant.  I found the service very friendly and helpful.  If you're looking for an adult beverage, they have a decent selection of beers on draft and in bottles.  Free chips and salsa were provided when I sat down.  I ordered guacamole as an appetizer, and while it may have had more onions and tomatoes than avocado, it was surprisingly creamy, rich, and flavorful.

For entrees, I had the Cabo San Lucas Salad, and pork tamales.  The salad consisted of crisp greens, well-seasoned chicken, fresh jicama, and additional fresh vegetables.  Cafe Fiesta Fe describes it as their most popular salad, and this is not surprising, as it was quite delicious.

The tamales were another story.  If I had to guess, I'd say the pork filling consisted of some sort of pork-loaf sliced into cylinders.  It tasted almost like a frozen breakfast sausage wrapped in masa.  More disturbing was a strange floral taste I got from the tamales; it was almost as though perfume had been sprayed on it just prior to serving.

As with any restaurant, Cafe Fiesta Fe had pros and cons.  The guacamole was nice, and the coconut cream pie I ordered for dessert tasted delicious, and freshly made.  As a professional baker, I do appreciate a place that serves good pie.

Stopped for lunch today. Guacamole, salsa, and chips were great.  Tacos, enchiladas, and tostadas were a little on the bland side.  The chicken flautas were pretty good.  Service started out good, but we waited over 15 minutes for our waitress to come back with our check.  We finally went up to the counter and paid.  Might come back for fajitas sometime if we're in the area.

Came after the lunch rush. Service was fast and friendly. Got the sampler and the food was good. If the chicken had some seasoning it would have been great. Pleased overall, we'll be back.

I was so happy for this type of restaurant to come to Richland Center. It was nice to finally have a great restaurant that is not a chain. The decor is upscale wooden table and chairs with family items decorated the walls. The specials on in clear view in the entrance of the building. I love that this is downtown and actually nice enough to have business lunches, parties, and out of towners. I always like to take out my family here for lunch when I am in town because it is close to all the businesses. They definitely made a smart move at the right time! The food definitely matches the success of the place! This is a great place to socializing!

Excellent guacamole--fresh food in the middle of midwest aggie nowhere.  Portions are ridiculously small considering the relatively low cost of rice and beans--one gets two tablespoons of each on a to go order--and now for some reason is charged TEN PERCENT extra for to go orders--not too smart a move by the mgt--especially for regular customers.

Most the waitresses are nice--a couple could use charm school or at least learn basic people skills.

The restaurant itself is roomy and comfortable--the chips are the best around.

Very good mexican food. I'm from Los Angeles and it's hard to find food that tastes like this back home. Even the hot sauce is better than most places back home. A must stop if you are in the area.
