I feel that I have reviewed this before, but maybe it was a few years ago.  The view & atmosphere are wonderful.  Even when it is raining or cold, they have a clearish curtain that still lets you enjoy the outdoors without getting wet & a heater for the cold.   It seems like we always order the same sandwiches because they are not something we can get just anywhere.  I like the Monte Christo & Bill likes the Muffeletta.  They make their own potato chips sprinkled with parmesan cheese dust, but we like them better without the cheese.  Tried the fries, but they were  frozen seasoned ones which everyone seems to use nowadays.  Yuck!!
The Bloody Marys keep me coming back - delicious & one of the best on the island. Â
My only complaint is the prices.  I feel they are pretty outrageous for many of the regular food items and they have gone up again recently.  Imagine paying $6.50 for 2 eggs & hash browns when you can get it down the street for $2.99.  The view isn't THAT good.  My suggestion: Get your eggs down the street & spend your money on the Bloody's while enjoying the view.
We waited until the last day of our trip to try this restaurant for breakfast, and I'm so sorry we put it off. Had we eaten here on the first day, it would have been our daily breakfast place. Great selection of fresh food, including freshly squeezed orange juice. The coffee was nothing to write home about, but it seemed like this was the place for locals. And it's right on the beach. The staff was friendly too. An all around great experience.
Review Source:This is our go to place for South Padre. Â We generally pack everyone up and roll them out to the beach right in front of the Palms Cafe on the Beach. Â The Margaritas are the best I think they have on the island and the shrimp basket is equally tip of the tops. Â They have big TVs for important games and an extremely clean beach right out front. Â Definitely more of a mellow/ family vibe then the others like Wanna, Boomerang and Clayton's. Â We love it best of all worlds: beach, great food and great bar.
Review Source:We ate here with our two small children, and all of our food was delicious. Â My husband enjoyed the grilled snapper and delicious grilled zucchini, and I savored my palm caesar with grilled chicken (a nice change from fried vacation food and it was perfect). Â Even our three year old scarfed his hot dog and sweet potato cottage fries. Â Happy hour margaritas on the rocks were huge, strong and delicious for $3! Â Definitely one of the stand out places from our trip to Padre. Â Loved being outdoors on the peaceful, breezy patio facing the beach.
Review Source:Food options that mirror a fine dining establishment like Sea Ranch, but on an outdoor deck attached to a cheap looking motel. Â Perplexed.
Seriously, there were entrees options like the Filet and lobster tail that ran $60 a plate. Â And you were served this while sitting outside on a deck while looking at 65+ year olds sunbathing 20 feet away in a miniature motel pool. Â
But I did rate this A-OK. Â The bar is very comfortable. Â There are cheaper options. Â We happened to be there during happy hour and had some good shrimp, and mini sliders, beer and mixed drinks all at a reduced price. Â
Bottom line... service was good, food was good, atmosphere was great, other than happy hour, value is poor.
