It seems like every time I make it back home to East Texas there is something new in my hometown. Â When we rolled into town my father announced that we'd be having lunch at a new restaurant, I laughed; yeah, right Dad. Â Well, he was right.
Cancun Dave's is in The Village Shopping center, next to the Subway; there is also a new coffee shop in there, too. Â The restaurant is brightly painted and smells fresh and new. Â There were only a few tables in there when we arrived and we didn't have to wait too long for our server to appear. Â She mixed up the drinks when she put them on the table though, which resulted in an amusing swap-a-roo between my mom and my husband.
My parents each had the number one: a cheese enchilada and crispy taco. Â They said that it was average; not spectacular, but not bad either.
Hubby and I shared a full order of the Beef Fajita Nachos. Â The plate is huge and we couldn't finish the meal. The beef was tender. Â They make their nachos from tostada's: spread on the beans, add the beef and cheese, toast them and then cut them into Nacho sized pieces. Â Several of the Nachos had spent a little too long in the toaster.
Over all it wasn't bad considering there isn't much to choose from in Hallsville. Â I'm giving it a four based on that. Â If i were to compare it to out favorites here in Fort Worth I'm afraid that it would not have fared so well.
