We arrived late Friday evening to await the arrival of the rest of our snowboarding party. Our first impression, was that this place reminded us of the scene from that shitty Luke Wilson movie "Vacancy". If you liked that movie, you probably scored a 400 on your SATs.

Boy and I checked in and went over to the Tavern for dinner and drinks. Pitchers of Bud and playing C&C music factory on the juke box really livened the place up, even though we were probably two of fifteen people in the entire joint. We made a hard attempt to play every song on the jukebox that would make the locals uncomfortable. Fitty - In da club, Kiss- Prince, and numerous others on NOW THATS WHAT I CALL MUSIC VOLUME 87. It was sort of futile, until we found "Hero", the Spanish version by Enrique, and the volume control for the jukebox. Everyone looked at us immediately as we smirked across the table at one another. SUCCESS! -har dee har har-, then they turned it down and a jam band showed up as we left.

We had picked up our drinks at the bar and carried them back to the table, only to have me break the chair to which I yelled "OH GAWD I'M SO FAT!" and pretended to upheave the table and throw the chair out the window. Sober. We were told our waitress would be with us shortly. There was one waitress and she proceeded to help everyone else, except for us. I thought we looked pretty approachable. Guess not. Boy eventually flagged her down and I ordered a mushroom and black olive calzone, as the tavern is best known for it's pizzas and he got a burger. Both were more than good and at a decent price. Doable.

As far as the actual motor lodge is concerned. It's what you'd expect for $210 for two nights including your lift tickets to Cannon, but MUCH CLEANER. The office manager was also our waitress from the night before, and I'm pretty sure she might run this operation almost entirely by herself. My room was adorned with fake wood paneling and fine art depicting deer frolicking in fields surrounded by covered bridges and waterfowl. The showers were hot, the rooms warm, but the beds...were pretty uncomfortable. Except for Jasper who wound up in the honeymoon suite, foam matress pad and complete with a bathroom that was ENTIRELY pink. Pink toiletpaper, pink towels, pink tile, pink shower curtain, pink toilet, like pink WOW. They didn't sleep quite as well as we're pretty sure their neighbors were cooking meth in the adjoining room. I'm being serious. For the most part, the visitors at CMVML were all young people heading up to the mountain for the weekend.  The second night there, we decided to take advantage of the hot tub. It was located outside in a small shack, surrounded by glass windows and windows with no glass as well. It looked more like a tool shed than a tub shed. We all ran out as it began to snow, and practically fell in as the steps up to the tub were covered in ice. We piled in with our beers and settled in for an hour of giggling and relaxation. There will never be a better way to cap off a day on the mountain and we'll definitely back next year to continue our tradition.
