  If you come here for fine dinning, perfect drinks, a robust menu you may be disappointed.  If you want good food, friendly wait staff, ambience and good conversation with a local flair - come hither   ,disappointment will be outside your grasp.  Just come for the right reasons.

  Captain Jack's is the first place you see once you come off the Horne Ferry, and for that reason alone it's understandable to pick it for a cold beer on a hot day.
  
  We biked from Kingston, ON over to Cape Vincent, and although the patio furniture is well worn and the interior of Captain Jack's is very old "saloon", we enjoyed a couple drinks and a bite to eat on the patio.
  
  The seafood salad was delicious - a heaping portion. I also witnessed one of the pasta dishes, and it looked great. The portions are good, and the prices are reasonable. Our server was very nice and accommodating and service was efficient.
  
  As we were biking it was nice that the patio area could also accomodate our bikes so they were within sight but not locked up.

  Okay, you don't come here for the amazing food (or service). You come because it's on the water and they have food. And cold drinks. The servers are very nice, if not totally efficient. We had little neck steamers, a must in this neck of the woods, to start and they were great. The beef dip is made with prime rib on a second life and it is awesome. It's on a potato roll, which is unusual but not bad. Chicken quesadilla is also good.
  
  The bowling game is fun - good bar scene.

  I didn't even want to give them 1 star! I ordered the French Onion soup and the cheese was completely burnt on top. I was so starving because it took them 20 minutes just to get me the soup, that I decided to scrape the cheese off, and eat anyway. It was so scorching hot that even after blowing on it for a good 30 seconds, my mouth now has blisters on it. It's been two days since I went there and it has not healed any better.
  
  The service was SOOOOO slow!!! It was horrific! The chicken sandwich I ordered took FOREVER! And when I got it, it was obviously cooked on a dirty grill because there was char on the chicken. There is a difference between grilled chicken and chicken 'grilled' on a dirty grill, covered in soot.
  
  I hope this helps your decisions while in Cape Vincent. There are a few other restaurants around that deserve your patronage. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!!
