The first biker restaurant I had been too... Â by biker restaurant I mean this restaurant is mostly visited by bikers on highway 129... We passed Robinsville on our way out of the Smoky Mountains... and found this restaurant on yelp.. Everyone was hungry so despite the 3 star reviews we decided to give it a try..
You get homemade food here.. They did not accept credit cards and said that their credit card machine was not working.. Service was good and prompt.. Anyways 2 of my friends ordered the special for the day which was Fried Chicken and mashed potatoes.. It was about 12$+tax.. They did not like it.. and the beans which came alone with it was salty..
My wife and her friend ordered the Chicken Alfredo and that was awesome.. It was only 10$+ tax.. I wish everyone ordered that same.. If so this place would have got  4 star reviews..
I ordered safe this time.. and got a bacon cheese burger with fries.. It came out alright.. was about 8$+tax.. Â
They had some seafood like Trout and stuff.. But they said they ran out of it by looking at the orders they had in hand.. Â I guess they catch the fish from the nearby dam :-) since this place is really remote..
So 3 stars it is...
After a 350 mile day on the bikes (The Dragon, Cherohola Skyway, and other back roads in the area), we were all starved for some good home cooking. The Carolina Kitchen, located in a small strip mall in the heart of Robbinsville, was the perfect place. They offer a wide variety of dishes, from meat loaf to ribeye steak. I had the blackened grilled shrimp. The shrimp was done perfectly; not tough and not rubbery, with just the right amount of blackened seasoning to give it that bite. The portion was huge, 16 shrimp on two skewers. The baked potato was done just right also. The salad bar was a bit on the light side, some of the items were either empty or down to the last few bits. Our waitress was very attentive, making sure we didn't want for anything. The other con was that she suggested banana cream pie for dessert...without checking to see if there was enough to go around. 6 of us ordered it and there were only 4 slices left. I ordered the "Holey" cake; devil's food cake with caramel drizzled over it and crushed Butterfinger over the top. That was awesome!
All in all, a good place for simple home cooking at a very reasonable price.
Stopped here for lunch on our way to the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. Â As a vegetarian, I found the choices limited, but they were willing to make me a grilled swiss on whole wheat, and I had the potato soup. Â Both were very good. This reminds of me diner food in the northeast, and we were quite satisfied. Hubby had a burger which he pronounced very good.
Review Source:We went to North Carolina recently for an anniversary getaway. Â We weren't sure where to eat and made some not-so-good choices whie we were there but Carolina Kitchen was not one of them. Â I wish we had found this place sooner than we did. Â The hostess was very friendly and we were seated promptly. Â We ate here twice; once for lunch and once for dinner the next day. Â Both times we only had their homemade soup in a breadbowl and the salad bar. Â The first soup we had was their cream of chicken with rice soup. Â It was thick, hearty, and very fresh. Â You could taste that it was homemade. Â The salad bar was pretty typical but we were both good with that. Â Everything was fresh and that's what counted for us. Â The second soup we had when we went back the following night for dinner was a cream of potato, I believe. Â Again, we were not disappointed in the freshness or the quality of either the soup or the salad bar. Â The young girl who was our server the first visit was great. Â She was on top of everything and she made sure we had everything we needed.
The one thing that seemed off the second time we were there was the service. Â We had a different server and she wasnt' as efficient as the first one we had. Â But it won't stop us from going back when we're in the area again.
Stopped here recently for lunch ... fantastic burgers ... wicked double chocoate chip cake ... and fried Oreos (in funnel cake batter)! Â OMG! Â I gaied three pounds just at lunch! And loved every minute of it!
Service was a tad slow, but they had a bus-full of hungry kids that arrived at the same time we did ... still the orders rolled out of the kitchen in record time.
If I'm ever in Robbinsville again, this is a definate repeat!
Graham County is a dry county, so you have to bring your own booze. We were bummed since we just wanted to kick back with a beverage and dinner after a long day of motorcycle riding. But we were soon to be pleasantly surprised when our dinner came out.
While the salad bar was typical of suburban/rural America, the steak and desserts were amazing. I ordered steak tips with vegetables. It came with toast, which was nice and thick, but I don't eat bread with meat, so didn't enjoy it. But the steak was amazing. Very impressed.
The restaurant accommodated our large group in a room off the main dining area. With appetizers, main course and dessert, it came out to about $25 each. Pretty rockin for the quality of the food.
If I stay again in Robbinsville, I will definitely return (with a bottle).
I had just completed a 25 day road trip logging over 7000 mi on my Harley from CA to Washington, DC and back. Ate out 3x per day at fast food to TGI Fridays. This restaurant was recommended by the motel/hotel by far serves the worst food for dinner! Price is unreasonably high at $11.30 for dinner and ice tea. Â I've been riding to DC since '05 and ate out for every meals and
I will not eat there again!
