Really liked this place!!! Â Seems like most of the restaurants in Siesta Key only focus on their drinks but not so at the Casey Key Fish House. Â This was by far the best meal of our stay in Siesta Key and well worth the short drive to Casey Key. Â Had the mussels marinara and it was fab!
Review Source:This is THE best place for fresh fish around here. Laid back, on the water, with a Tiki hut bar across the parking lot. The food and ambiance are absolutely fantastic. There really aren't too many decent restaurants on the water, but this is one. Absolutely must try! Usually pretty crowded though.
Review Source:Atmosphere is fantastic. Â You can arrive her by land or boat. Â Inside the restaurant the food is pretty good. Â Some of the things I've had include the salmon which was encrusted with pecans. Â Very tasty. Â Also the fish tacos are a great lunch option. Â Everything else looked fresh.
Outside they have a wonderful tiki bar. Â The waitresses, although sometimes overwhelmed when there is a large crowd, make awesome rum runners. Â Skeeter has been there a long time and is the bartender taht will take good care of you. Â They often have live music at the tiki bar and has always kept us entertained. Â One of the better hang outs if you are ever on Casey Key.
The food here was great. Â I had an amazing hamburger and then my second visit the clam strips. Â This was the best hamburger I have had in 9 months and definitely the best one I have ever had in FL (how I know its been 9 months is that was the last time I was in Portland, OR). Â When I ordered the clam strips, I also wanted fries and the waitress was great and made it a basket so it also came with cole slaw and was a $1 cheaper. Â Great relaxing locations.
Review Source:Nice view and friendly servers. Â Food was poor. Â My seafood gumbo was OK, but my wife's crab stuffed shrimp was NOT edible. Â The shrimp tasted fishy. Â The stuffing was cold, as was the mashed potatoes. Â The manager was nice enough to take the shrimp meal off our bill. Â We will not go back there.
Review Source:Years ago, on a trip to Florida, I happened to converse with the catering manager of an upscale restaurant and I asked her where the locals went to eat. Â She surprised me with her answer: Â Casey Key Fish House.
I had never heard of this place, despite having traveled to the area numerous times over many years. Â I had to check it out!
Down a narrow road, across a single-lane draw bridge, Casey Key Fish House sits on the water's edge, and has a dock for boaters to moor there and enjoy a meal. Â It's an unassuming place. Â The plates are plastic, the napkins paper, and the glasses disposable. Â And the food is fantastic!
The waitresses are friendly, t-shirt clad (there are t-shirts for sale, too) and knowledgeable. Â Daily specials abound, and I invariably order one. Â On my last trip, one of the specials was grilled sole in a lemon caper sauce. Â I've never had a bad meal here, and this was no exception. Â Served with rice and broccoli, and a slice of garlic bread, the fish was delectable! Â I passed on the terrific Key Lime Pie dessert and opted for a slice of chocolate mousse pie. Â My coffee with dessert capped the meal, and it was fresh-brewed. Â The total cost for my lunchtime repast was around $20. Â Not McDonald's cheap, but not McDonald's food, either!
I've heard it said that Stephen King, the author, has a home on Casey Key. Â I can't confirm this, but on one occasion when I came to dine (there are lines out the door during high season), there was a very snazzy Rolls-Royce parked in the sandy lot. Â
The place may be "old Florida" style, but the food is fabulous, and if one has to wait for a table, well worth it!
Have eaten here twice. Â First time okay, 2nd time very good....not quite a 4 star. Â Ordered almond crusted snapper with lemon sauce. Â Came with gingered carrots & snap peas. Â Very good. Â Great waiter. Â Had drinks & shrimp appetizers also good. Â Excellentt view, fun place to experience outdoor dining in Florida.
Review Source:Great old Florida atmosphere. Fish and chips are great, as is the clam " chowda". We tried the battered fried shrimp basket on a subsequent visit and were very pleased. Light crispy batter. Good fries and slaw. Very generous portion of shrimp for $9.99. Becoming one of our new favorite places. Great good, good service and wonderful view. Dog friendly too.
Review Source:Fresh fish. Super casual. Fairly priced. Plain an simple a great place to grab lunch. Only negative is that you might have to fight off a gull or two. And when it is in "season" down here the place is a long wait to get into.
If you have a dog like me... bring him they are welcome on the pier seating :)
Great place to have lunch or dinner on the Intercoastal Waterway! Â The Almond Encrusted Snapper is wonderful as are the steamed mussels. Â Grilled fish sandwiches are also tasty. Â Skip the fried shrimp or fried fish sandwiches & go for broiled or grilled. Â The Casey Key Fish House is a great place to watch boats or tourists. Â Next door, they have a rocking tiki bar with music every Sat. & Sun. Afternoon. Â (some evenings) Â Place is packed by 3:00 pm so plan to arrive before the music begins. Â Fun to sit outside on the provided beach chairs', have a cool drink, & watch the beauty of the area. Â Bartenders are friendly & serve great slushy drinks. Â Plan to return on our next trip!
Review Source:Love the atmosphere and the beach motif of the restaurant. You can sit outside and chill. The clam strips were really tasty. I had the crabmeat stuffed shrimp and it was pretty good for a dive-y place.. I saw the fish and chips go by to another table, that looked really good. Next time I would get the fish and chips
Review Source:Cute place.  Very old Florida.  Eat on the covered open dock and enjoy the view of  the waterway and the boats.  Everyone at the table raved about their food (except me).  I love fried shrimp lightly breaded and crisp.  Their fried shrimp had a tempura coating - very puffy and heavy.  If you like it that way, you will love it.  I would go back again and order something else.  I really liked the atmosphere and the service.
Review Source:This little dive is a great find, right on the waterways of Sarasota Flordia. Nestled next to a small marina where you can catch boat ferries or guided boat tours, this establishment also has a tiki bar in the parking lot across from the actual restaurant, serving all manners of drinks to patrons waiting on a table or just enjoying the scenery. Â The actual restaurant is on the water and features large windows they open to create an open air environment. Beautiful! Â
I felt like the prices were definitely right and didn't feel I was being overcharged. The food was great too. Some in my party ordered fried shrimp and were disappointed to discover they were fried in Tempura batter, something they don't like. Â It wasn't mentioned on the menu either. They also said the fries were greasy and not fresh. As for the others, they all liked their meals. Â
My meal was a bit more challenging. Â I ordered Diver Scallops with rice and vegetables. The sauce was a citrus base. Somehow, the first scallops they brought me were SO salty!! Â I had to send them back. The server explained that the marinade must have been screwed up. Quickly, the kitchen sent out four new beautiful scallops and everything else. This timeout was truly wonderful. Those scallops were cooked perfectly and the sauce was outstanding. Â
Definitely check this place out.
This is our new favorite place to eat fresh fish in Sarasota. We stuck to the recommendations we found on Yelp. We started with the clam chowder which was very good. It had big pieces of clam and had less of a cream and more of a broth base. The almond crusted snapper was delicious, and so was the grouper sandwich - I had mine blackened and could not have been more pleased. My wife had the crab cakes and was not impressed. I would have to agree. Stick to the fresh fish and you can't go wrong.
Review Source:I used to live around the corner and went often. We still visit as often as we can when we are back in town. Dinner brings the menu to life, though lunch is good too. Â The Bouillabaisse is killer, but it's definitely a two person job...nirvana in a bowl! Â The almond crusted snapper is wonderful and do NOT skip the mussels in white wine and garlic sauce. Fabulous! Â Service can be hit or miss at times, even when it's not super busy. Â But relax, enjoy and savor the flavors.
Review Source:This is one of those great little out of the way sort of places that we all seek, especially since it offers some really good food (the mussels in either red or white sauce are great) food, a varied menu with plenty of blackboard specials and some exceeding friendly service.
It sits right on the water overlooking a small marina and since it is popular amongst tourists, fills early.
When proceeding west along Blackburn Point Road it will be on your left hand side just after you cross over a small one lane bridge. There are some other places named "Casey Key" restaurant on the right hand side before you get here, but they are not Casey Key Fish House, so don't confuse them like I almost did.
I really wanted to give it a 3 star but my entire party of four enjoyed their lunches.
Service was not the best. Our waitress lost our order and we had to reorder. She was apologetic and very sweet.
The blackened grouper was very good but the bun was stale.
Overall, it's an expensive fish shack with a water view, if you sit near the windows.
On a return visit the tiki bar next door was less than well staffed and stocked and first time it was actually boring there, but nevertheless we did find out that we can bring our puppy to the Casey Key Fish House...yay! We returned the next day for lunch and walked out past the boats to the back entrance to the patio with Sherlock and had a great lunch on the water. It was perfect. While they don't bring treats or water for the dogs like some places the fact that they allowed him on the patio was good enough for me. If they add the treats and water bowls I may find another star ;).
Review Source:Over the years our family has eaten here several times a year. Â It is our go to place when visitors come to experience old Florida. Â The fish is fresh and there is a huge variety on the menu to appeal to all likes. Â Stick to the basics and leave their "fancy menu" for tourists.
Service is to fast. Last night our meal was not relaxing, due to the hurried and FRANTIC waitresses. Late getting our drink order and it came as our appetizers arrived and no sooner had we finished the appetizer and our meal arrived. Just a reminder to let the waiters know to SLOW down and let us enjoy the ambiance on the water and our company of friends.
If you are in the Sarasota or Venice Florida area, you must stop here. This is one of the few true water front family friendly places to dine in this area of Florida. The fish is always the freshest and the service is superb. The mixed veggies that come with the entrees are the bagged kind, which I really don't like and the salads are lettuce from a bag.
My favorites include the blackened snapper sandwich, ahi tuna- rare, muscles marinara , calamari salad and of course the cheese burger. The Bouillabaisse is the best I have ever had, hands down. Served at dinner only and $32.00. Enough for two people so just order one.
Cocktails  are served in plastic cups , but you are on the water. The simple wine list is quite acceptable.
LIve music on the weekends at the Tiki bar for a couple of hours in the afternoon.
Don't miss this super cool little spot. Go early to avoid crowds in the winter season!
Casey Key Fish House has one of the few tiki bars in Sarasota county. While you are waiting for a table pass the time at the tiki bar with a cocktail while enjoying live music and waterfront views.
Once inside the restaurant all the tables benefit from open air dining but the patio is the best. If you like mussels order the mussels in white wine, garlic sauce for an appetizer...Amazing. For dinner you can't go wrong with one of the baskets or a fresh catch dinner special.
This review is about the Tiki Bar.
It closes at 8 p.m. on weekdays and 9 p.m. on weekends.
The bartenders are not as friendly as they could be considering most of us are locals.
The drinks are pretty good, but I just can't believe they close so freaking early.
The clientele is off sometimes --old rich too drunk for their age dudes who channel their inner frat boy but now it comes off as the creepy ancient guy thing. GROSS!
Stay open later. Good drinks. Okay service. 3/5.
