Wow - what a wonderful experience last Sunday at Central Coast Wines! We went there just to purchase a particular bottle of wine and left over an hour later with memories for a lifetime. Central to this enjoyment was Mark who was operating the store this day. He warmly greeted us, found the wine we were looking for and then the fun began. Not wanting to leave so soon we accepted his offer for wine tastings. Mark's wonderful, kind personality made it seem like we were with a long time friend. I won't spoil the secret but if you see Mark, ask him about the Thriller video!

Andrew poured our wine and was very helpful. He seemed very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our wine tasting with him. 4 flight wine tasting was 8$ which was pretty good. Really enjoyed that most of the wines were local! Really great atmosphere and nice employees!

We LOVE this place. We especially love Max. He is amazing. He went above and beyond to make my husband's 30th birthday the most memorable day ever. I told him to choose the wine & beer and his selection was immaculate. We stop in just to chat with him. Honestly you won't regret stopping in.

The team makes the store. Very knowledgeable crew, superb selection, and great relationships with local vendors all come together to make a top notch environment!

If you haven't been there for a tasting or just to pick out something new - make it a point!

I was here for a Thursday Night wine pouring that featured Pianetta wines.

Not only were the wines fantastic, of course, but I was very impressed with the store and the employees.

Every employee is passionate about wines from the Central Coast and they can definitely point you in the right direction. They know so much about each wine. It was so refreshing to enjoy wines with people who enjoy them as well. What a great spot in San Luis Obispo.... it is ALL about the wines! I will definitely be heading back.

5 stars for the staff, particularly Max. He is very fun, knowledgeable, and never fails to offer excellent suggestions for bottles to purchase from the shop.
One thing, though: on a couple of occasions I've been into the shop for tasting, the place reeked of cigarette smoke. Like, I'm positive that someone smokes INSIDE there occasionally. I just think that if you're going to smoke in your business, it probably shouldn't be a wine tasting shop; doesn't agree with the palate too well.

Other than that, I love this place!

This place is great. The selection of local wines is very impressive and the staff is great. The Manager/owner/whatever he is knows what he's talking about. He was able to tell us a lot about the different wines and had personally worked on a few of them. It's quiet, but not too quiet. It doesn't make you feel uncomfortable if you walk in wearing jeans and a t-shirt. The pours were generous, the service is spectacular, and the price for pours wasn't bad when you factor in the variety and avoidance of driving to a winery. I liked this place enough to join the wine club (which will ship out of the area). If you want to kill some time before dinner downtown, this is a great place to unwind for 45 minutes.

This is one of the nicest wine tasting rooms I've ever been to. What made it special wasn't it's location or selection of wines (although both are excellent). What really impressed me was the staff. The guy doing the pouring knew EVERYTHING about wine, and everyone in the store was knowledgable and friendly. This is the first time I've ever done a wine tasting and I actually learned something about wine.

They have a wine club, and it sounds like a pretty sweet deal (no membership fee and lots of perks). I really wanted to join, but I don't live in the area. I'll definitely stop by here next time I'm in SLO.

Decent selection of local wines, slightly overpriced (think one or two dollars a bottle).

The guy who does the tastings is very nice, knowledgable and liberal with his pours, his outstanding customer service brings Central Coast Wines up to four stars. A five taste flight will cost 8$, but those five tastes often turn into six or seven.

Go on Thursday nights, they have a special tasting and the scene is a lot of fun!

We chose this great little store based on it's Yelp reviews and weren't disappointed.

We went in knowing exactly what kind of wine we wanted and at what price point. That was all the information the gentleman helping us needed. He had a nice case of selected sparking wines and light reds ready for us in 15 minutes, and they were all local, too!

His selections didn't disappoint. He knows his grapes and seems to have a discerning palate.

SLO's got a great wine store in downtown and I'm jealous.

I love that you can get most of the local wines without driving all the way to the winery and they have a decent sized selection of wines from other areas. My favorite wine is the Mountain Cuvee from Chappellet Winery in St. Helena and they had it!! I was pleasantly surprised!

Definitely my favorite wine shop in the area. They have a great variety of Central Coast wines and some from beyond. They even carry some specialty beers, sodas and cheeses.

The staff is great and all the guys pouring have a great amount of knowledge and are ready to give recommendations. It's not a stuffy place either--everyone's friendly, including the people who come in to taste on a Thursday night. (I'm a regular! Say hi! :))

I highly recommend joining their wine club. It's the best way to try so many different wines at a reasonable price and not be locked into just one winery. Plus there are plenty of perks to being a wine club member like free tasting, discounts on wine, and monthly wine/beer/food events.

Just a great shop. It's the first place I recommend when shopping for wine or simply wanting to get into the wine tasting world.

Ok, add a phantom star to this place for carrying Sprecher Beer! Incredible stuff. If you haven't tried the stuff, come here and grab the DIPA if you are feeling brave. 16oz bottle for $3.50. Worth every penny for this rare gold from Milwaukee.

This little shop has an excellent selection of some of the best wines of the central coast. They also have monthly wine and food pairings for club members and their guests. Additionally, if they don't have the wine you are looking for, just ask and they can most likely get it for you! ~ http://www.christianpere…

The gentleman that poured here was nothing less than an encyclopedia of knowledge. Had a great Gewurtztraminer here.

Excellent selection! Great place for wine gifts and other gifts (pretty jewelry). Knowledgeable, friendly, accommodating staff.

Important Note: this store can ship wine for you. If you are like me and tried to go to the post office then the ups store (keep your receipt next time if you buy from somewhere else!) and were turned down, I'm sure you know how important it is to know a place you can ship wine from. CCW have a business wholesale shipping rate account with fed ex and shipping is quite affordable.

I can't believe I've been in this town 9 years (well, I guess 6 of those were drinking years) and not been in this place until Dec 2007. It's almost better than going wine tasting in the surrounding country side. You get such a selection, you get buzzed, and then you don't have to worry about getting in a car accident somewhere, because you're downtown and have plenty of opportunity to sober up before you get behind the wheel (I get to walk home). But I still do love the drive tour. Such beautiful countryside around here. And it is hard to beat winery ambiance, well, some wineries anyway--that's all a matter of taste.

We got lucky when we visited and the sommelier of Novo was running the shop as a favor to the owner. Big fan of this fellow. Too bad he only fills in when the owner is desperate. This is definitely the kind of person you want pouring your wine.

Hopefully when you drop by, you'll get lucky, too.
