Nice little bar and grill. Â We've eaten here and just stopped for drinks. Â Both times we were able to get prime spots at the outdoor bar (probably do to the weird hours we stopped by). Â I really like the chef salad and everyone else enjoyed their sandwiches. Â Bartender is really nice - and solid bloody marys (although not packed with the "meal in glass" extras that seem to come with bloodies these days).
Review Source:I haven't been there, but I have ordered delivery, so my review is solely based on the food. And it was gross.
Delivery took at least an hour and 15 minutes. Corn dogs were overdone. Fries were crazy soggy. Chicken strips were okay. Potato salad? Meh. I ordered the Dixie burger (coleslaw, mushrooms, onions, etc.) which should have been amazing, but the burger was dry, the bun was hard as a rock, and it just ended up in the garbage.
Maybe I was the last one in a long line of deliveries? I don't know. Never again, though. I'm not even sure if I would visit to eat there, after that bad food experience.
We arrived for breakfast, and sat outside on the deck on a gorgeous day. We started out with a good strong bloody mary, missing some of the stuff I expect in one (celery, hot pepper) but it had a pickle. I had the Walleye & Eggs light portion with hashbrowns and toast and 3 eggs for a very reasonable $5. We all did, and liked it. The music was too loud and the bartender was happy to dial it down. Nice place.
Review Source:The Chain O' Lakes Bar & Grill is one of the few places in Waupaca where the food is great, drinks are premium, and IS SMOKE FREE.
Located on 'The Strip' in Waupaca (County Road QQ) and known to locals as 'The Chain Bar', this restaurant surprises if not mystifies those who had been there when it was known as Al's Bar, The King's Roost, The Beach Club, Alumni's, and Brewster's. Â A huge menu of appetizers, entrees, hot sandwiches, burgers, and salads. Â The menu is highlighted by their Friday Fish Fry (Available every day) and inventive crepe-style 'Wisco Pies' which are offered in many Savory (meal style) and Sweet (desert style) combinations.
I order The Aspen Gyro (which is a replication of a Gyro Chris Rasmussen used to make at the Popcorn Wagon in Aspen, Colorado) 3 out of every 5 visits. Â This Gyro is addictive. Â My side of choice with this is the Hot Chips. Â I pair it with a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Â The burgers are great as well. Â Their Buffalo Wings are as good as any I've had and have 5 sauce choices available; Buffalo, Oriental Sesame, Caribbean Jerk, BBQ, or Teriyaki. Â At $.25 per wing during NFL Football Games, there isn't a better deal in town for Wings.
Friendly, fast service and great cocktails should be expected. Â The Chain Bar is my local hang and every time I visit it feels like I'm hanging out with all my best friends.
Live Music, Comedy Nights, Magicians, and more are all infused into their we'll try anything if it works entrepreneurial uniqueness.
A huge, new outdoor deck overlooks their recently renovated Beach Volleyball Courts. Â I'm looking forward to the upcoming league season.
