After camping in the Colville National Forest for a long weekend with my teenage son, we were delighted to find a hot breakfast before starting our drive home to Spokane.  First, I'll share - our expectations were "eggs & toast, and a hot cup of coffee" - pretty low.

We left delighted and with plans to make sure the Chalet is on our list of "will most definitely visit again".   My son had the scramble with German sausage and homemade apple fritters... "Mom, I'd come back again just for the fritters" - yes, they were THAT good.  He was expecting "Albertsons-like apple fritters" - instead he had 4-5 of small fritters with real apple and a side of a cinimmon/apple dipping sauce - the kid was in heaven - they were delicious.  His egg and German sausage scramble looked great, too - he loved it.

I had the ham and asparagus/veggie omelet with hollandaise sauce on the side -  it was GREAT.  Very fresh and the perfect balance of meat to veggies, cheese - it was the best omelet I've had in years - which surprised me, I thought there was no pizzazz left to discover in omelet-land.

If you're zooming through Chewelah, or looking for a pretty day-drive from Spokane - the Chalet is worth the stop AND also worth being a nice destination.

I was pleased with the clean and nice shabby-chic decor, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, prices were reasonable (great value), and was pleased to see the kitchen put so much attention into the presentation of the food - it looked delicious and - even better, it was delicious.

What a nice surprise to discover the Chalet - we're looking forward to visiting again soon.  Looks like they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner... breakfast was divine!

Excellent service.... Huge eclectic menu (burgers, Phad Thai, fried chicken, homemade pastas) Reasonable prices.

I had beef stroganoff - fresh pasta with mushrooms, creamy sauce and steak medallions cooked to order. Very tasty and large portion.

Hubby had honey glazed fried chicken. Cooked to perfection with just a hint of sweetness. Fabulous homemade mashed potatoes with gravy, peas and garlic bread. Loved, loved, loved it.

Their house salad with pear Gorgonzola dressing and ginger bread ala mode offered perfect bookends to a great meal.

When back up here skiing at 49 Degrees North, this will be on the agenda again!!!!

Probably the "nicest" place in town, with prices to match. Nice selection of food. Great red velvet cake, good burgers, and amazing cheesy noodles (appetizer section). Almost feels like eating in someone's dining room, its cozy and welcoming.
